So, After I throw in the towel, and we have the car towed to the shop for the Civic to be repaired... The individual in question goes off to work... This older stepson has been a thorn in my side for some time now... Since Donna and I moved in together four years ago... Anyway, He comes back to my house, 40 minutes away, after he gets off work and starts crying the blues about how he can't go to the beach without a car, knowing we have an extra car... Well I'm a bit tired, my back is sore as hell, and I'm pissed that I spent 20+ hours working on HIS project HE didn't research or even get the documentation for... He gets a little disrespectful, and I explain that he is about a breath away from having his ass kicked... This, apparently offends him... No book on his car, no book on the LS motor from the Integra it came from, no book on the Vtec swap, and NO info... AND I'm not a Honda guy in the first place, and had made it clear, this was HIS project, not mine... And his feelings are hurt? So after I dump hard on him with my reality to his situation and the fact that I don't care if he hitchhikes to the beach, he ain't taking my car, He leaves... Next day I get a phone call from his father. His dad and I have NOT gotten along in the past. But he wanted to thank me for offering to loan the money to have the car fixed. We discussed the situation, and then he advised me NOT to assault his son, because the kid would call the cops... He has threatened that with his dad, who IS a cop... I was like "Whatever, you're right. But he is a spoiled bratt..." So his dad informs me that Jeff isn't gonna come over to the house anymore and he doesn't want to see me anymore, and that we are mean to him... 19 years old... hurt feelings... Everyone is the bad guy but him.... OK, Fine... I advised him to tell his son that all the rest of his crap that is in my garage is in the trash can in 24 hours... Unless it is picked up... Dad advises me to chunk it, cause he is tired of the mass collection of Honda crap in his basement. I advise dad to remove him from the insurance policy due to the fact that son had bragged to Pete, Doug and I about driving in excess of 120MPH with his 16 year old girlfriend in the car with him, coming to my BDay party. I also advise that Pete, Doug and I all councelled the ladd, but he was hearing none of it... Dad is selling said Honda Civic with LS/Vtec installed...And the boy hasn't even driven it yet! Seems the ladd was caught up in three lies in a row concerning money he doesn't have to pay for the repairs, money he owes his dad now, and now the whole driving "Fast and Furious" Style! I love a good novel... But this stuff... Kids, aren't they great? Especially kids that are the product of divorces??? On the plus side, I can get back to finishing the garage and working on the Z! So we're in a war in 1991, and we are parked at Bahgad's doorstep and we say "We won't roll over top of you and crush the rest of your city if you agree to these terms" and then for the next 'oh 9 years, 10 years you thumb your nose at the agreement and tell us to piss off... OK, I'm gonna walk all of you through this once... And I have to tip toe for OBVIOUS reasons... We announced there was a REAL GOOD chance that, since the situation wasn't going well with the inspections, and the shell games saddam was playing, that military force would be required... Scroll back to the months before the war... We were in there how many times? How many times did they deny us access to specifically identified WMD suspect sites? The RULES for the AGREEMENTS were UNRESTRICTED ACCESS... Every time we put UN weapons UNARMED inspectors ON THE GROUND, they were DENIED ACCESS TO THOSE sites... You following me yet? OK, so WE tell THEM that we're coming... We get ZERO backing from Turkey... NO BORDERS SEALED THERE! We get ZERO backing from IRAN (Obviously) and NO borders sealed THERE! Interesting enough, during the FIRST war, IRAN allowed Iraq to hide their aircraft in Iranian hangers... But you boys and girls MISSED that one... We get ZERO backing from SYRIA, Which, BTW has been a constant source of terror training, all the way back to Lebanon, and specifically our embassy and marine corps barracks being bombed... Syria was the BIGGEST mistake... We know for a FACT that lots of very bad things went across those borders. So now we have ZERO support from the big players in the UN... And because of that, ZERO support on the borders surrounding the country... SO, I'm assuming I am dealing with some smart kids here... What are the odds that the MOBILE LABS HANS BLIKTZ ID'ed in SEVEN REPORTS might have possibly ROLLED across one of ANY of those borders?? Any guesses? ODDS??? HUH BUELLER???? PHULEAZE... The American public is well established as having ZERO stomach for anything harsh for more than a nanosecond... The attention span of a two year old hopped up on sugar... Our Public wanted this war BY A MAJORETY VOTE. YOUR CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS voted for it BASED ON THE INFORMATION at hand. You sit there and blame who ever you feel like blaming... I guess you don't consider the violation of 27 different resolutions and cease fire agreements, weapons inspections, and related firing on soldiers in peacetimes, not to mention human rights abuses beyond belief, AND the fact that FOUR different countries intelligence agencies ALL reported that WMD were still in place and being developed???? We were well within our rights to remove him from power in 1998... We didn't... again in 1999... again we didn't... David, Word to the wise... Test fit the tranny first. I beat the heck out of the tunnel on my 260Z only to find out the tranny would have fit fine without nearly the massaging! Mine was a standard 350 configuration, but was with a T56. Mike 8)

Well, Although I'm all for the Pro Touring look, I think stuffing something that large under a Zs narrow fenders (Even Tubbed) is gonna create a rollerskate. Think about it for a minute guys... My 305-30-18s are 11+ inches of tire EACH... And my Vette is easily a FOOT wider than my Z, and probably more. I think going with something in the 275-40 series range is about all you would be able to get away with and not create some seriously adverse handling issues... Mike

I've got two 60Gig HDs with stuff loaded onto them... I've also got MP3 players in the truck, the vette, and the wife's Taurus... So much nicer NOT to have to carry a ton of CDs or a changer. Mike

Most any motorcycle shop sells Motul... Also I ordered mine from Doug Rippie Motorsports... (http://www.dougrippie.com), and he has a very good website comparison for wet and dry boiling of fluids... It actually sold me on the Motul over the ATE fluid I was looking at. Mike 8)

Uh, I disagree. Strongly. Ever dealt with the UN directly? Ever have them lie to your face, while in a hostile region? Ever have them be your sole source for extraction, only to be left to your own devices to get out of said hostile region? Ever have them be your only source for food, water, and communications only to have them basically abandon you? Hmmm... Uh NO. SCREW THE UN, and SCREW the rest of the world. I could go on for HOURS about how the UN has basically cried the blues to the United states to "DO SOMETHING" in every fleabag infested region in the world, while they (The UN) sit by idle, directionless. Haiti, Uganda, Rwanda, Mogadishu, Bosnia, ALL of the middle east, Chechenya. Personally I don't put much faith in the "League of Nations", since they DO nothing but critisize and are filled with corruption. Their handling of the IRAQ war and the subsiquent exposure of France, Germany, and the Soviet Union, and to a lesser part, our wonderful friends in Canada, ALL had reason NOT to have the US invade Iraq and get Saddam out of power... $$$$$$$$$ Valuable contracts to rebuild the Iraqi infrastructure were at stake.... No wonder they were SOOOOO opposed to a dictator who would torture, GAS, and mass execute his own people, while threatening the rest of the world, thumbing his nose at...... ALL those UN resolutions he signed to keep the United States from rolling through Bahgdad the first time around. But we are the bad guys... No, I am 100% sure that if we closed borders, and were more self reliant for one year, that it would do a few things... Our wonderful friends in Israil would either destroy their enemies, or be destroyed themselves... That situation would correct itself. We would no longer be involved, therefore we wouldn't be a target any longer to the people who use Islam in such a horrid way to justify their attacks. The rest of the nations could get up every morning, and look at themselves being indecisive, while their neighbores starve to death from famine and drought... And we could FIX OUR OWN back yards... We're not appreciated by and large ANYWAY, and Blame it on Bush, but this has been going on for decades... When Demacrats and Republicans alike pull their collective heads out of their asses and realize that this situation is what it is through the actions of others, we will be a much stronger, much better nation... Until then, we're still doing little more than peeing on the constitution, and the vision our forefathers had planned for this great nation. Yea, I'm all for sealing up the boarders... Well to add insult to injury, We got it all buttoned back up, went to fire it up and the new hed gasket started weeping fluid all aroung the outside of the head... DONE. Oh, we won't be worrying about bad LS/ Vtech swaps prowling from my garage... He has thrown in the towel and recognized that A: He really needs to wait until he finishes school to hotrod his car more than it is, since he is on a BARE shoestring budget and B: NONE of the import swap stuff he has tried is EVER straight forward... His best comment was "Your V8 conversion doesn't require all these hoops and look at the potential!" I got him! So my oldest step son was gonna do a LS/Vted swap... I'd told him not to ask for help... This time, I wanted him to do all the research, turn all the wrenches, and get it done, or not... well not happened! They put the head gasket on upside down... And fortunately when the coolant leaked into the motor, it hadn't been started yet... And Oh, NONE of the parts worked as supposedly planned... So this afternoon/ evening/ probably tomorrow as well, I worked on fixing the mess. I was pretty much PO'ed... BUt kids will be kids I suppose, and other than losing a weekend doing something I wanted to do, I spent it dealing with their mistake! Lesson on the whole import thing kinda sunk in this evening when he looked at me and commented that i've not had nearly the trouble he has with ANY of my mods... PLanning and research, or just plain goofy? I reserve comment... but the point was drilled home and I didn't have to bring it up!! Mike

Strotter, I spend many of my weekdays (At least three days each week) at CIA HQ Supporting that agency as a consultant. I can say with a great deal of certainty that the NUMBER ONE GOAL of the current administration is to GET Osama. It is plain and simple... We get OSAMA and Bush wins. Michael Moore... I believe it was Dennis Miller (ORmaybe Letterman? I forget!) who sent someone out on the street with a camera to follow him around and stick microphones in his face, and then took everything Mr. Moore said and placed it out of context to make him look like a huge ass.... Bigger than he already is. But what amazes me is the fact that he was offended by the exact tactics he uses to make films like Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine! I've seen Mr. Moore go head to head against several Independants and Republicans in the past, most recently with Bill O'reilley and it is funny as hell to see how Mr. Moore gets rattled and goes emotional. The man is an abomination, and he is one of few men in this country who'se funeral I'd throw a party for. I hate the man for his lack of balance, and his fundamental Extreme leftist view. Being a square fence sitter in the political arena, I'm personally offended by anyone from the extreme left or the extreme right, and putting faith in anyone from either corner is as good as believing in santa claus and the easter bunny... Now think about THAT! Jared, You're in a boat that is getting fuller by the day... But there is no way I can support Kerry yet. He stood for an hour and talked about three purple hearts and how he fought in Vietnam... I'm happy for him, but it told me ZERO about what he would do FOR me, the country, or our situation abroad. The only way He will win this election is if he turns his campaigning attention to things at home. Bush's foreign policy is not where Kerry should look to gain support... Bush is killing "Bad people" in two countries right now, and has a proven "No Nonsense" track record of being tough on foreign affairs and Kerry will NOT tople that. He must focus on how he is gonna make dollars in my pocket grow. How he is gonna do great things for health care, and the elderly, funding for schools, and all the happy horseshit that EVERY CANDIDATE who has become president has preached for THREE DECADES... Guess what? They were democrats and Republicans. And they haven't fixed JACK in three decades. You can't see that these parties aren't in it for you, me and the country? This is a TRILLION Dollar business and has nothing to do with my retirement, where I buy my perscriptions, or how well little Johnny is doing in school. Regardless of what anyone says, if either of the two candidates weren't in the news because of their need to be president, neither man would be recognized for doing anything truly great prior to their preisency, NEITHER man has a huge bill attached to their name as senator so and so pushed this great, radically changing for the good bill... Kerry and Bush both were nothing special in the senate, And politcal analysts have commented on this over and over. Again, we are left with two also rans. Bush and Kerry. I won't vote for him, But Bush is going to win, unless Kerry does a magical make-over. Mike 8)

So yesterday morning I get a call from my little brother. He says he needs to come chat with me. So, he and his buddy pull into the driveway maybe 15 minutes later. He and Billy (The kid that helped me with my family room, and the stairs and landings up to the second floor of the garage) start relaying a story of how they were at a stop light, each in his own car, and both pull out fast when it turns green... Just up the street from all this, there is a cop, who is trying to unlock a door for some stranded soul. As they approach the cop, he steps into the street and yells something at both of them. Neither kid hears the officer's instructions. The officer runs to to his car, gives chase, and they pull over... BOTH kids pull over. This incident happened in down town Fredericksburg, where streets are narrow, and it is VERY congested. So anyway, the officer approaches Billy, who is already on probation, spins him around, handcuffs him, and searches his car. He promptly finds a novelty knife, in the console of the vehicle, and informs Billy that he will most defenitely be going to jail. So little brother, being the DUMB ASS he is, decides he is going to speak with the officer about taking Billy's car home, instead of having it impounded. The officer takes HIS license, runs it, and informs him that HE will receive a citation in the mail for drag racing. He also informs him that the vehicle is being impounded and a FULL SEARCH will be conducted. Billy gets bailed out the next morning, and tries to retrieve his license... He is informed that the officer mis-placed it and it can't be found. The moral of this story boys and girls is this: IF you think you are capable of driving fast, and IF you plan to do a little "Street Racing", you might want to think twice about where you are and about what might be in your car. These two kids are best friends and were most likely NOT drag racing since one was in a bone stock 2002 Honda Accord 4Bander, and the other was in a 2.8 liter Automatic Barretta. Neither was under any illusion that their cars were NOT fast and furious, and neither had the pre-requisit fart can, or other ricer approved paraphenalia. They were both going to the same place, neither spun tires, and according to both of them, they WERE screwing around, but NOT racing. BOTH these guys are 20 (Billy) and 23( My little brother) and BOTH live at home with moms and dads. Neither of these two has the money to deal with possible defense lawyers to get out of such a stupid charge... I'm gonna call the chief of police tomorrow and get the low down on the case, and maybe go talk to the Commonwealth Attorney. Most likely little brother won't get a follow-up summons. But I was counseling Billy on getting himself squared away. He is in line to take over his families business and his father just found out he has Prostate Cancer. His family OBVIOUSLY doesn't need this kinda stress at this point. So next time you are out feeling your oats, you should ask yourself if you can pay to play... Bottom line is cops (At least in my town, and probably yours) are getting sick and tired of dealing with every kid who looks like trouble. Amazing! Mike

"I'm Sorry" isn't a word I use often! So, back to the topic of HELPING keep HybridZ as it was intended... One thing I would recommend EVERY new member do is find out WHY HybridZ came to be in the first place. It is well documented. I think that would help a lot of folks understand our lack of patience when dealing with some of this kinda crap... And it would also give some guidelines on what we expect from our members. I can't tell you how many times people we've had to ban, warn privately, or publicly about conduct, will argue that they didn't know what they were doing was wrong. I always assume I'm going to meet each and every one of you face to face someday, and depending on your conduct on the site, that tells me if I'd welcome you into my home, or not. Think about that for a second. That, to me says it all. I've had probably over 100 members from all over the coutry stop through here at one time or another since 1999, wanting to see the cars, the control arms, meet me and shake my hand, and I'd like to think it is due in large part to the no nonsense way I approach the board and helping to run it. One thing is for sure, there are no surprises in dealing with me... Ya get what ya get! So if you are 15 or 85 years old, it doesn't matter. Conduct yourself as if this place WERE like gold. I've had several people say "Man, I need access to the site, You can't ban me, it will hault progress on the project". Think about THAT for a minute. And the next time you want to post some emotional temper tantrum, log off and walk away. DON'T post. If you MUST blast someone for something, do it in private, take it offline, but don't do it in public. It will draw the negative kinds of attention we hate to give (Well, others hate to give... I'm cold hearted, or atleast I've been accused by one or two of that! ). Read the Mission Statement... READ EACH Stickie... I'm confident in the following statement... The Admin Staff agrees with Forrest by and large on this one... The biggest complaint new members coming from other sites had ABOUT THOSE sites was the constant NEWBEE posts. No one likes seeing the 84th thread started on "Gee Guys, just got a Z and what motor will fit?" Or a recent favorite... "All you SR20 Guys, How'd you do it?" Come on guys, USE the FRIGGIN' Search feature, R-E-A-D, as it IS FUNDAMENTAL, and it HELPS US HELP YOU! I'm less and less a fan of Marshall and Peevey these days, and I like the sound of Carvin with the warm rich sound of PRS pickups... Former best friend/ guitartist back in the early 90s had that sound nailed with a hot rodded marshall/ Carvin mix and a Custom GS with PRS pickups...
