  1. Goog luck with your build. As Domzs said, get it in running order soonest and then tackle the suspension/brakes/driveline stuff in stages. My biggest problem in my extensive build over the 10 years was the ease of getting distracted with other cars I could grab the keys and take for a drive. Get it running and enjoy it!! Mike
  2. Brakes are done, oil Is changed, and she's ready to rock-N-roll. I'll hopefully be posting some excellent video footage, pics and lap times next Friday-Sunday. Mike

  5. Gnoze, I have something in the works. Hopefully will be as easy to work with as the units we had for our spec miata. Here's a pic of my revised cold air induction. We had to modify the blockoff panel for the upper grill and had to rework some ducting. I need to bleed the brakes and change the oil, then we'll be ready to rock and roll for the track next Friday-Sunday. Mike
  6. Ah yes... The elusive hood vent... Remember that Mustang I just bought? I stumbled across these while planning my build of the 2012 GT I had just purchased in March, forgot where I saw them, and then MATT found them and steered me back to them on Facebook! http://www.americanmuscle.com/bmc-hood-vents-cf.html I used epoxy to attach them. Mike
  7. She's back together, but I'm having to completely redo the air intake for the Cutler Tbody. I'll use a specter air intake snorkle and run 4 inch ducting down the the K&N airfilter that we'll mount in the air box with the radiator and the oil cooler. At least it will get a clear dose of air outside the engine bay. My next project will consist of forming the lower rocker panel conversion. I will form some channel trays that funnel air from the TC Rod box area, and come out infront of and blocking the rear tire face.
  8. Made a bit of progress this evening. Wrapped up string alignment on the car and removed a tad bit of toe out up front and toe in at the rear! And I started installing some more carbon bits to help with the air flow around and under the car:
  9. Was aligning the car this evening... Everything seems correct on the front, with R Camber at -3.0 L camber at -3.2/ L caster at +4.3 R Caster at +4.4 with toe 1/16th total out. Rear is at R camber at -2.8 L camber at -2.9 and the toe is about 1/8th!!! total IN. Gotta fix that. I did unbolt the rear suspension bits over the fall last year when I was doing the mustache bar mounts. So that's probably where the toe got jacked... I'll resolve it asap!
  10. So the list is growing shorter and shorter, so what do we do now? We make a new list, right??? I'm going to knock out the alignment today and then drive the car later this week to insure the car will live for some extended drives on track. That said, the new list will include the following: Removable drivers and Passenger door windows, so I can have the option of towing with my open trainer. Hood vents like Matt Isbell installed in his fenders, but actually in the hood. Install the carbon fiber scoops I got from Reaction research a while ago... I plan to put those on the side of the front fender. Create some lower side skirts that will run from the TC boxes to the rear tires. I suspect these will be three piece jobs and will require Dzeus fasteners so I can remove them to jack the car up. Rear vents behind the rear wheels. I plan to use powder coated black mesh for these. I also plan to actually make air guides to help channel the turbulant air to the vents, ala Porsche. Sectioned front struts. I need to lose some height on the front end. It's 5 inches off the tarmac. Last but most expensive is to start throwing money towards the build up of that LS1. I Need to have the shortblock completely built and then consider the heads/cam selection. I also need to price all of this out, because if the cost rivals the price of that LS376, I may just bite the bullet and go that route instead... Mike
  11. Three inches of fender cutting is about right. I had to go all the way to where the upper inner fender is flat and cut/welded there. I now have zero interference issues with tires. Mike
  12. Yup. I can't say enough good about CCW and their customer support. I've had their wheels on my high HP Porsche and now on the Zcar, built to my specs. No complaints at all and glad I opted for the anodized finish on the wheels... Still looks amazing 2 years later!
  13. Those are actually for sale. Tom Harris bought the red Zcar they were on and he's interested in selling them. I believe they are an 18X11 and 17X9 with zero offset on both. The CCWs I gave you the specs for in the PM are for the BLACK ccws on my car now. Mike
  14. Dude the event we are doing at the end of the month is 3 days, four 30 minute sessions per day, plus a student and his sessions. When I'm done at the track it normally takes me a few days to bounce back! Mike
  15. Matt, PICS on the rear Vents??? And I am flatter, borrow anything on my car that will help!!! The diamond plate is aluminum and very thin and light. Mike
  16. Cary, I have one nozzle aimed basically at my crotch. It is a AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam) based system. Today I managed to get the accusump issues resolved and also installed the rest of the fire system. I then moved on to wiring up the coolsuit box. I'm most of the way thru that, and once that is done, I'll wrap up the alignment!
  17. Started the install of the fire system and I'm most of the way done with it. I have routed two nozzels into the engine bay, one to the driver's seat mid-section, and one to the fuel cell area. I need to mount the cables (one inside the car, one ouside the car) and drill the holes and mount the straps. That should do it. After that, I'll troubleshoot the accusump, then do an alignment. Mike
  18. This discussion is going to take a really bad turn...
  19. I wanted to chime in and apologize. I previouslt read your setup and figured nothing in my setup was going to help you with the setup you quoted. I'm actually running -3.0 fronts and -2.5 rears. Temps and wear showed I wasn't pushing the springs or the suspension beyond that, although I have actually been able to get about -4.5 degrees on the front without running out of threads on the tierods. What the experts above mentioned is spot on though... I'd recommend buying a decent smartcamber gage, and some cheap toe plates to start with, and then make a stringbox you can fasten to your front/rear bumpers at hub height. Then mark the tubes for each end so you know where your string always hits front to rear, and where the tubes mount to your front and rear bumpers so you can always get close on setup for the boxes. Greg Ira has a slick setup he uses on his ITS 240Z! Attaches in 90 seconds and he's ready to check/adjust and move on. Mike
  20. So I installed a new suspension on the Mustang, along with GT500 Mufflers. The Eibach pro plus kit came with adjustable front swaybar, non adjustable solid rear bar, all hardware, matched springs, struts/shocks, and I bought the .75 degree camber bolts. I've had 4 days driving the car now and I can honestly say I'm as happy with this car as I've been with anything I've owned short of the 996TT 670HP monster. Total package is what's really winning me over with this car, from performance to creature comforts and entertainment. It's the total package! I've got $23880 invested so far! Mike
  21. So the Zcar is on hold while I finish up the suspension on the Mustang. doing a full Eibach pro plus kit to get rid of the 4X4 stance and make the car go around corners flatter. I'll get back on the Zcar next week, promise! Mike
  22. Frank that looks sexy man!! We just picked up a 325is for my oldest. It's a sedan and had a front collision that wiped out the front rams and the radiator/plastic bits. But it runs, has a set of coil overs on it, and a nice catback. For $500 we're happy with it. He's turning it into a track project car... I'll be sure and point him here so he can drewl!! Mike
