Also, I thought the price was very resonable.

Materchan: He does not have a mandrel bender. He bent the 2.25 using a conventional bender, but he was able to use prebent mandrel tubing for all of the 3 inch work.

"I'm using the California style mirrors, they look good on the car, but the mirrors are a little small to see well, especially on the passenger side." Mike Kz: How's the quality of the California style mirrors? I checked your site and couldn't find any pictures. Do you have any pictures? Thanks

Does anybody have a picture of a 240Z with Miata mirrors installed? I'm looking for a high quality set of mirrors for my Z. I did a search but most of the picture links are no longer available. Also, does anybody know of a source for a right hand 240Z mirror that looks like the stock left one? How about the MSA California style mirror. Any installed pictures? Are these good quality? Thanks

Thanks for checking. I guess I don't have a problem after all.

At what temp are the cooling fans supposed to come on? My fan comes on at 225 degrees. Seems pretty high. My GM LS1 installallation guide shows it should come on at 212 degrees but that's for a 98 LS1. I've got an 01. I confirmed the dash gauge reading with my scanner so I know what temp the ECU is seeing. What are you guys seeing?

Ok I gotta ring in. Haven't been on this site in awhile. Been too busy with other things. Started April, 2004 LS1/T56 as removed from O1 WS6 Trans Am with 10,000 miles John's motor mounts, trans mount, A/C compressor kit Vintage Air A/C JTR headers/radiator/ducting Wilwood front brakes 240sx rear brakes All bushings/bearings/tierods/ball joints/u joints/suspension etc. replaced R200 Limited slip dual 2.25 into single 3.0 using dynomax bullet resonator and Borla Pro XS muffler installed by Craig Muffler (great job). A whole lot more that I can't think of right now. Runs good but not yet a driver. Still looking for a good paint shop.

Hey guys, Just got my exhaust system done for my 260Z LS1 project by Craig Muffler Service in Santa Clara. I went with a dual 2.25 into a single 3.00 using a dynomax bullet muffler as a resonator and a Borla Pro XS muffer. Mike did a great job. All joints are TIG welded and he manufactured a nice transition. I would highly recommend his shop (I wish I could say that for all the vendors I've dealt with on this project). His phone number is 408-243-6290. Exhaust sounds great and is very quiet. Sorry no pictures yet.

4L60E OR T56 YOUR CHOICE AND WHY FOR THE LS1Z

Joey, I sent you an email. Tom -
My R200 came out of an 87 300ZX. It has 12mm bolts.

4L60E OR T56 YOUR CHOICE AND WHY FOR THE LS1Z
iflyfast1 replied to LS1 Z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Joey, For me it was pretty much a no brainer. I've had many sports cars over the years, and I wouldn't dream of owning a sports car with an automatic. You just don't have the same control in the corners. My 260Z car had an automatic when I started. Installing a clutch pedal is no big deal. It bolts in. I believe your trans cross member is different though, so you'll probably need to swap. T56 is also lighter and smaller. The only issue I see is the T56 clutch longevity. After inspecting mine, I decided to replace because it looked like there was some serious chatter going on, although it still had about 50% wear left. I replaced with LS6 clutch/flywheel (about $300 complete as I remember). Tom -

Bill, My stock 14" tires didn't clear the rear 240SX calipers either. You may want to test fit before you get a surprise some day! The good part is if you lose the spare, you'll get some weight off of the rear end. As I remember, your car was a little rear weight biased. Tom -

My spare tire well isn't good for anything anyhow. Any tire/wheel combo that will clear my 12" willwood brakes won't fit in there anyway. -

Another alternative is to install a Camaro fuel tank like MAS280 did. Then you'll also have an in-tank fuel pump. That's what I'd do if I had to do it again. Tom -

Dale, Your going to need some kind of surge tank for the stock pump to supply, then have the high pressure pump draw fuel from the surge tank. I don't think the stock pump will meet the demands of the high pressure pump without some kind of tank in between. I used a system similar to the JTR setup. I used stock lines to the AC Delco low pressure pump. 3/8 lines from the low pressure pump to the surge tank. The surge tank feeds the high pressure pump. I used a filter before the low pressure pump. And used a Corvette filter/regulator after the high pressur pump. The filter/regulator dumps excess fuel back into the surge tank. There is also a return line from the surge tank to the main fuel tank. Hope this helps. Tom -
LS1 Radiator Hose Part Numbers
iflyfast1 replied to iflyfast1's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Joey, Street and Performance makes an adapter to clear the headers that might work. http://www.hotrodlane.cc Mike, I purchased your JTR radiator a while back. It looks like it will work with the stock LS1 Camaro fans if I don't use the trans cooler outlets which I don't need. (I'm using a T56) Do you sell caps or plugs to cap these outlets off? Joey I'm looking forward to hear what that beast sounds like! Tom -
Does anybody that's using John's mounts have the part numbers for the upper and lower radiator hoses? I'm going to use aftermarket gauges so I don't want to buy John's fluids kit. Thanks. Tom

Did you guys have any luck with emails to Speartech or are they just real slow to respond. I've sent a couple emails over the past week with no response...
-
I had a 94 a few years ago. I installed all the M2 Performance (in Concord) mods. Larger intercooler, exhaust, intake, downpipe, computer mods, suspension, etc., etc., etc. 360 plus HP at the rear wheels. The car was scary fast... Caught more than one Viper by surprise
-
David: Thanks for the info. I emailed Speartech a few days ago and have yet to receive a response... Dale: Thanks for the pic. Harness looks great. Looks like you went the new harness route. $750 is too pricey for me for a new harness. I wonder what the reworked harness looks like.
-
I'm trying to decide which way to go on my harness. Have Speartech modify my existing harness or do it myself using the baker electronics LIM (http://www.bakerelectronix.com). Does Speartech wire in a black box similar to Baker LIM? If not, do they provide relays for the starter, AC, fuelpump, high and low speed fans etc? Anybody have a pic of a modified Speartech harness? Anybody have experience with the Baker LIM? Thanks. Tom

Max tire size for 16X7 Panasports?
iflyfast1 replied to iflyfast1's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I think I'll stay on the safe side and use the 225/50-16's. I can always try the 55 series next time around. Thanks for the help guys.
