  1. The Panasports have a 6mm positive offset so that should move the tire in about 1/4 inch giving me a bit more room. I've got about 5/8 inch clearance between the inside rim and the coil spring perch so I don't anticipate any problems there. Still I was hoping to run 225/55-16... (cheap rearend gear ratio change!) Sounds like the 225/50-16 is already pushing it though.
  2. $750 is pricey , and mine will probably run more cause I want to run duel exhaust all the way back. But judging from what I see in the pictures , I'll probably trailer my car there when it's ready and have him do my exhaust too. Tom
  3. Looks great Joey I can't wait to hear how it sounds when you fire it up. How much did the exhaust run you (if it's ok to ask)? Tom
  4. I've got a 260Z with 16X7 Panasports without coil overs. The car is lowered one inch. What is the biggest tire that will fit without rubbing? I did a search and it looks like a 225/50-16 might fit but I'd like to hear back from people who are presently driving their car. Thanks
  5. qwik240z What are you planning on using for headers? I spoke with John last week, and he didn't have any idea when he would have headers available? Something about him being to busy designing a 240z mount! The Sandersons are sooooooooooo expensive. Looks like Street & Performance has a couple of street rod headers. Not sure if they will work though. Tom
  6. I was just on the Autometer web site. Their Cobalt series gauges have a programable fuel gauge. Basically, you use your existing sender and program the fuel gauge to your sender. There may be hope yet to get an accurate fuel gauge
  7. Phantom, I think alot of the problem is with the way the parts are shipped. My parts were basically tossed in a box with a little newspaper for padding. This included my $200 fuel pump that was rattling around in there with the rest of the parts. The box was sealed with a single piece of tape. When I received my parts, the tape had let loose on the box so it was totally open on the top, so I wasn't sure if everything was there. I believe some other people posted that their boxes were open as well when received. Don't get me wrong. I am very happy with the quality of the parts that I received. I think they are first rate. I just think John needs to have a talk with whoever is packing and shipping the parts. It might save a lot of headaches on both sides. My 2 cents.
  8. Looking foward to following your install. I also went with John's kit. You will probably finish the install way ahead of me though. I've pulled my motor and detailed the engine compartment. Now, I'm busy rebuiding the front end. Wilwood brakes, ZX master, suspension, ball joints, tie rod ends, Poly bushings etc. Then I'll start the rear. R200 LSD, disc brakes etc. Then I still need to sort through the late 260Z wiring mess. I'm trying to get as much done as possible before dropping in the motor while I've still got some room. 8)
  9. Joey, Is the "Black box" separate from the ECU? Did the ECU still need to be reprogramed or does the "black box" eliminate the need? Does Dynatec have a website? I'm still deciding which way to go with the harness. Thanks. Tom
  10. Phantom, Does this mean you used the Camaro master out of the donor car? Did it bolt up or were mods required? Also, another me too! I received my JCI kit last night. Parts quality looks first rate. May have some parts missing, however, since when I received the box it was split open. Checking now to see what's missing if anything.
  11. Pulled my dash this weekend. Looks like the heater core and heater control valve need replacement too. Also, with the Nissan or Motorsports auto kits I still need to figure out how to mount their compressor on my LS1 (sepentine pulley & mounting bracket issues). I think I will go with the Vintage Air kit. This will solve most of the problems. Just need to make the control unit look good in the dash. Thanks for the help guys.
  12. Just recieved my Precision R200 LSD from Reider Racing. Precision has had a price increase due to the availability of steel in Japan. Still only cost $603. Reider says they have 25 in stock. I also bought a diff out of a 87 300zx which uses the 12 mm bolts so I won't have to worry about using spacers with the 10 mm bolts of earlier diffs. Another advantage to using the later diff is that the bearings are about $100 cheaper. So looks like I'm going to have a rebuilt diff with new bearings, seals, and LSD for less than $1000 including core cost and labor. Kind of a nice alternative to buying a used LSD for $500 or a Quaffe for $1900!
  13. Chipsbyal charges $250 for a one time edit. He will also do harness mods, but you have to be pretty specific to what you want. At this point I haven't researched the harness enough to know what exactly I need.
  14. I've been looking at the vintage air systems as well. It looks like a nice set up. I would like to keep the interior stock looking though. I'm not too thrilled about removing the stock control unit and replacing it with the vintage air control. I don't think it would look good in a Z.
  15. Also, the new Pontiac GTO is also using the LS1. So it looks like we will continue to have donor cars for engines in the future.
  16. I got a chance to look at Joey's LS1 install last friday. The install looks real nice. Thank's Joey for taking the time to show me your car. I know you were busy. The good news is it looks like there will be yet another LS1 Z in the bay area. I'll be ordering John's mounts for my 260z in a couple of weeks Tom
  17. I've got a late 74 260Z, and I'm looking to install A/C. I called Courtesy Nissan and they said their system would only fit a 1970-1973 240Z. Does anybody know who the manufacturer or distributer is for this A/C? I'll like to give them a call to find out what the difference is. Also, does anybody know who manufactures the Motorsport Auto kit? Thanks.
  18. I don't have a drawing. We're basically looking at a 12mm dia round rod with a 10mm hole drilled in it. Pretty simple. I don't know the exact length at this point (I'm guessing 1/2" long or less) without buying the LSD which I'll do if I know I can get bushings made reasonably. Maybe Savage42 can shed some light on the lenght if he's seen one of the Precision LSD's.
  19. I called the folks at differentials.com regarding the LSD. They do sell a LSD for the R200, but it will only fit diffs with 12mm bolts not the early R200 diff which uses 10mm. They referred me to Precision who is the manufacturer. They said I would have to have some sleeves made up to use this LSD with 10mm bolts. I emailed Ross at MM regarding bushings. It doesn't sound like he's too interested but he might make some for $80 to $100 per set if there was enough interest. Anybody interested in a group buy? Any machinists out there willing to make some bushing? 12mm outside dia., 10mm inside dia.
