  1. If you're going by price, availability and physical size, I'd say a ford 2.3 turbo motor would be right up your alley. Makes plenty of power, parts are MORE then plentiful and it's not all that large. You can find them in everything from pintos to rangers from a few years ago
  2. Bill's a good guy, I've chatted with him a few times as he visits the same boards I do, http://celicatech.com and http://www.alltrac.net since he has an 88 ST165 like mine, the man is dedicated beyond belief, he decides what he wants to do and just builds the car around it he'll go to any lengths to avoid changing what he wants to do. You can check out his race site here http://www.racingstrong.com/
  3. Love that lake, I live about 20 miles outside Sonora
  4. It's the fourth question, and I'd say it's more of a: "Here's your sign" kind of thing
  5. I've used the oil stabilizer extensively and I can say with absolute certainty, that if you drive at high rpm often, and do not have a crank scrapper and a windage tray, this stuff will COST you hp. In heavy duty racing applications you use about a 50/50 mix of that stuff and high grade oil and if you look at the crank without a scrapper that stuff will literally absolutely cocoon it. You need the scrapper and tray to take advantage of this stuff, otherwise it just causes too much windage. It's great in gear oil and dif oil though
  6. Nice car, but if I was you I'd have kept the corolla and maybee switched to a larger displacement motor if you really wanted more power. But mainly for reasons of insurance and maintainance costs. Not to mention all the time you put into it, that's a really clean install I can't say there could possibly be anything that would attract the attentions of the police faster then a bright red porsche
  7. Use the larger drive as your primary drive, install windows on it, then connect the old drive as a secondary drive so you can retrieve the data.
  8. Kind of all irrelevant isn't it? If you have moral or religous objections or psychological fear, doesn't that make you unqualified?
  9. I go the one on hwy 4 right after antioch, this is heading east. It's right about at the intersection of hwy 4 and 5.
  10. Well, since you get NOx for having a really high combustion temp the easiest way to fix it is to add octane, slowing the burn. It will bring your HC emmissions up a bit, but it works, I did exactly this in my 91 SHO, I put in 5 gallons of pump 100 from a 76 station and passed with flying colors.
  11. OUCH! Was taking a drink of Dr. Pepper as I clicked the link, exited through nose on pic loading. Thanks Aux, you just made my day.
  12. Thoughts of dog..... "Kill..... me........"
  13. Hey, I got one that I saw, but wasn't me that it happened to. About 3 years ago I was over at my uncles house watching him work on his 71 mustang. As I recall he was at the time replacing a broken (or so he thought) motor mount. Turns out the mount itself was fine, just the rubber grommit type thing that insultates it was dry and cracked, so he got a replacement grommit, and proceeded to wash off the parts... in kerosene. Now, I'm told that lots of people use gasoline and kerosene to clean parts, they make great solvents, but then, after he finished replacing the mount, he went outside to light up a cigarette, and the fumes from kerosene on his hands ignited into a fireball that burned off this mustache, half his beard and his eyebrows. I laughed my ass off for like 20 minutes. Didn't even phase him though, he just shaved off the rest of the beard the next day and went back to work, still cleanin parts with kerosene.
  14. Yeah.... I hear that stuff causes rust... and it's a MAJOR component in acid rain
  15. Curses! Why couldn't your cousin live in california Would have made a perfect christmas present
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=7939835046&rd=1 It's a very nice setup, at like $100 as of now with 3 days left would be one heck of a Xmas present for a new GN Z Only real worry is things getting damaged in shipping Even comes with harness and ECU... makes me wish I had somewhere to put it.
  17. You're supposed to type your last name first in the field I'm Fujiwara (wisteria fields) Masahiro (big hero)
  18. Which one is easier/faster to reload while running?

I look at in terms of power output to displacement. At 1.3L the 13b can push a reliable 300hp and still be daily driven, that's about 231hp/liter. My 3S-GTE (2L) in my celica would be pretty hard pressed to live a long life at those kinds of levels comparitively since with the sane hp/liter output that would be 461hp. 8) For higher power a larger engine would be much better suited though, for said reasons of longevity and reliability that you stated. But for performance around 300hp the 13b should last. So how do the 7's handle with the V8's in them? Understeer at all? I can just imagine what it must be like to drive a 7 with an LS1 under the hood

I don't know anything about a new RX-7 model, but I'm definetly getting one of these http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/displayPage.action?pageParameter=mazdaSpeed6 when it comes out, I know people that make custom cranks for them (them 2.3 duratec) to take them to 2.7L.... easily over 400hp and ft/lbs on pump gas Check out the little video on it, it looks like it's going to be seriously bad ass.
  22. Dry sump it, not like you wont have the room for the equipment
