    whos is this?

Ohhhh.... pretty One of the only convertables I've seen so far that look really nice.
  3. HP is Torque over time. So Torque is actual power, and HP is rate of use of that torque. If you have 2 motors, same displacement, one has 500hp 500ft/lbs at 5000rpm and the other has 500hp 500ft/lbs at 6000rpm they will both have equal acceleration at those points all other things being equal. but.. If the gearing is the same, the 6000rpm motor will win, since it will top out later then the 5000rpm motor. In another case you have this: Say one motor has 300hp 200ft/lbs at 8000rpm, another motor has 200hp 300ft/lbs at 8000rpm, which will accelerate faster? Answer is the 300ft/lbs motor, because it has more force available. Which is why when people has low tq motors but spin them very high, they still get tanked by lower hp V8s with big torque. The little motor has much better efficiency of it's torque (hp) but more torque = more acceleration. So HP is basically just the efficiency of TQ at a given point, high HP means you can maintain TQ. But you can have high HP and low TQ and not accelerate for beans compared to lower HP and high TQ 8)
  4. God, yeah they can. About 3 years ago I went with a friend to go look at a 70 camaro he saw for sale. Owner said it had been sitting for about 17 years in his back yard, and he knew nothing about cars and it wouldn't start, so he rolled it to the front yard and put a sale sign on it. So we checked oil, antifreeze etc, he said he just replaced all of it prior to trying to start it, all looked good so we tried to crank it.... cranked fine, but no fire? So after much diagnosis under the hood I pull the top of the air cleaner off to find it packed with walnuts from a nearby tree emptied em out, fired right up. Whatever put them in there squeezed through like a 3/4in hole, mice and squirrels are like the cockroaches of automobiles.
  5. Heh, driving back to San Luis Obispo from parents house at about 3am (was a monday, had class at 8 8) ) was in a 99' Chrysler 300M, doing about 133 (70 zone) it was a really warm night so I decided to open the moonroof. As I did I looked up and right above me.... were the lights of a helicopter I just pulled over right then, and about 2 mins later a CHP pulls in behind me and start writing the ticket . The officer however, wrote in 150+ so I took it to court, and one of the officers in the helicopter didn't show. Turns out if it's cited by air, EVERYONE in the vehicle has to show or it's dismissed
  6. Horrible danger sign #1: "It has brand new oil and all fluids were recently changed, to include a coolant flush for the new radiator" He probably did it to cover up metal shavings or something, you don't have a $400 total service done prior to selling a car that cheap without a damn good reason. Plus, why did it need a new radiator? Danger sign #2 "Supra Turbo Custom mounted to the M20 manifold with Front Mount Intercooler" A stock supra turbo is a ct-26, it flows absolute crap on larger motors at any decent engine speed, on the larger BMW motor, it's probably already past it's limits unless it's had both housings heavily modified, so it's probably already maxxed out and way beyond it's point of efficiency. No way in hell he would only run 5-6psi with a FMIC unless it was detonating from heat above that (It's the turbo I have in my 88 alltrac which is only a 2liter so I know it well 8) ) Stock supra wastegate is also set at 10psi so I don't even KNOW how he's running only 5-6psi. Probably total BS. Danger sign #3 "Under the hood, it has a Mustang Cobra 90MM AFM ... Super Sound Blow Off Valve," Total bullshit that it was professionally built, no professional would use a cheezy blow off valve like that with a MAF meter, it will cause stumbling and hesitation since it will vent already metered air. BIG danger sign #4 "It runs great, and all it needs is a tune from a shop that has a Dyno or a Wideband AFM to adjust the Split Second Timing Controller properly...There is also a Performance Chip installed in place of the factory ECU chip" In other words, it's not an EMS, so you're not able to tune the thing, period. Plus no way in hell it will ever pass smog. Small danger sign #5 "Clutch just replaced with barely 1500 miles on it" Means whoever had the thing before burned out the previous clutch, probably raced the crap out of it to burn it up unless for some retarded reason they installed a stock clutch with the higher output motor. Gotta be realistic too, you got a guy who bought a toy for his non-military time, so he's probably flogged the crap out of it every chance he got. It could make for a decent project, but that's all it would be. Take the money, get another Z
  7. http://www.killsometime.com/Pics/Funny/GetPicture.asp?PictureID=114 Wonder how long before someone at the DMV realizes what happened and takes it away?
  8. You know, that might be true, I got out of a ticket given by aircraft in CA because they clocked me at 82 and I argued that the car wouldn't go over 76 because of misbalancing on the wheels made it shudder like mad. Got dismissed. And yes, the wheels really were misbalanced
  9. Pity it would be one heck of a monster if you did it, and nobody would guess what's in it by the exhaust note I tried to lookup the cost but couldn't find a place that makes the custom eccentric shafts. Of course I didn't look too long, until the 30th DSL remains unavailable for my home and I can't stand dialup for more then an hour at a time On a side note, I wonder if anyone's been crazy enough to try a 6 rotor by combining two 20B's I see plenty of them on ebay and at various import sites, so I'm sure someones tried it......
  10. Gee Aux, with the $3K you just picked up, you could be the first on the planet with a 4 rotor Z C'mon you know you want to. Engine management might be an issue though
  11. Mother of God! Remind me to NEVER paintball with you around! A .68cal welt does NOT sound appealing
  12. An $800 paintball gun?! What does it fire? 50cal paintballs?!
  13. Geez, wonder if he's gonna get flamed for this sorry, someone had to say it....
  14. Saw this on Ebay, FAST engine management system, looks like it's been posted in the wrong section and noone has really seen it. Goes in about 3 days, looks like it will be a steal. Good luck all, would be great for all these new LS1 swaps http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33553&item=7907526398&rd=1 Oh yeah, whoever's selling it is also including 8 new 42lb injectors, which in itself makes the buy worth it 8) At least at the price it's at now ($100)
  15. LOL! They just filmed the man's resume for the rest of his life
  16. So tell me, how drunk do you have to be to take a $20 bet go outside in hail like that This is why I live in california, the earth may crack open and swallow me, but imho it's easier to watch your feet, then to watch your head 8)
  17. Bah, screw that! Gouge! Go for the eyes!
  18. Hope you had natural disaster insurance
  19. A flying topaz.... well, at least it did something useful for once.... :malebitchslap:
  20. Well..... while searching for a 240z to hybridize on ebay today I stumbled upon something else that looked VERY appealing for the price... and I bought it it's DEFINETLY no Z car, but at least I won't have to worry about spinning out on black ice (how I killed my beloved 1986 SVO). The Z will just have to wait till I get a second garage space now And c'mon for the money... who can blame me? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=15288&item=2481095749&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  21. go check out the for sale section at turboford.org I got a set for my SVO for $35 people always selling those.
  22. If I'm wrong, (hell even if I'm right and it passes) I'll be the FIRST one holding a protest sign marching up to Arnolds door
  23. Well, they really CAN'T repeal the already exempt car since there would be no way for 30+ year old car with swapped engines to pass smog according to CA vehicle code. If you had a car that suddenly couldn't pass smog due to the repealed law you could sue the state and win quite easily as they are in breach of contract, even if the law is repealed it was an existing contract at the time of the swap. I've studied quite a bit of civil code and business law and it would be illegal for them to change existing changes, they could only prevent further changes. It still sucks, but at least the 29+ crowd won't get screwed
  24. Erm... I DO so hate to be a party pooper, but doesn't anyone else think the car is kinda slow for a TT V8? I don't think thats a 60ft time, I thinking thats stop to 60mph, pretty slow for the setup "Quarter Mile: 12.68 s @ 112 mph-> 0-60: 4.9 s"
