  1. Okay here is the latest MSII tune. I have been running it on my new motor for a few weeks but this is similar to a tune that I have been running for a few years now. Try it out and let me know what you think 1974 260/78 5 speed 82 280zxt MSII 2.8 running about 12psi scottyz downpipe, 240sx tps, pallnet throttle body adapter 450cc inp009 blue tops, t3/t04e hybrid, msd 6al, intercooler tuned with LC-1/xd-16 2.8 tune for hybridz.zip
  2. Are you using a relay board for the install?
  3. After reading this I side gapped my plugs and indexed them. Can't comment on any power increases but the car idles very smooth. I'm also running an MSD 6al
  4. This makes me want to index my plugs tomorrow!
  5. Dave, I'm certainly not out of ideas yet but I was wondering if you could take a close look at an old data log that you might have using the same Msq file for megasquirt that used to work fine for you. Maybe try to compare that to a brand new data log and then start to look for differences specific to duty cycles and pulswidth. It would take very little effort and who knows maybe something will show up. I do like the compression check idea because its so easy and allows you to move on to other things.
  6. Dave have you played around with your injector settings just to see if it makes any difference? opening times?
  7. Hey, I just stripped my engine bay using a paint strip wheel from eastwood. http://www.eastwood.com/rust-solutions/removal/poly-x-paint-and-rustremoval-disc-4-5in-cup-style.html
  8. Tuner Studio works great for me and I agree it's better for accell enrichments and setting map dot and tps thresholds. The only problem that I had was I could never find away to turn xtau on and off. strange
  9. Mine looks similar but it came from http://www.ssautochrome.com I have used the stock spring with no issues but read other places that you should pick the correct spring by your measured vacuum at idle. I remember buying one pretty cheap from another website but I haven't bothered to install it yet.
  10. For MSII its under the general tab I think. Megatune
  11. I was wondering the same thing about the table not greying out but after reading more it seems to make sense. Not sure if this answers your question but last time I read the manual it looked like cranking pw starts the engine, followed by ASE for the specified cycles immediately after "run".. then the warmup wizzard comes into play. I used tables for my 2.888a code and still have a little bit of trouble getting the ASE correct for those immediate cycles just after engine start. Chuck
  12. Slow Old Car, I was wondering how long of a flexible oil line you used for your feed line.
  13. Clifton, I was just wondering about restricting oil pressure to a T3/T04 turbo I'm running. About to switch motors and will probably replace my mangled stock turbo oil line on my L280et. I was wondering if you need to restrict oil pressure if running a non ballbearing turbo.
  14. Open this attachment... it gives details of the code change. It's brand new and among other things I believe that it eliminates a problem with xtau triggering AE for no apparent reason. Chuck
  15. Thanks, I think I understand better now after reading some other threads. What I have pictured is an adjustable fpr that references boost 1:1 not a rrfpr. Makes sense now. It should be pretty easy to readjust my fuel pressure correctly and then do a few datalogs to correct my VE table.
  16. That makes sense, thanks. I'll do some more searching but am I correct in setting fuel pressure at idle with the vacuum line removed? Also, here is a pic of what I'm using
  17. I have been reading but can't get a definite answer as to why I should run a vacuum line on my aftermarket fuel pressure regulator with my turbo setup. I understand a stock setup running more than stock boost can benefit but If I tuned my l280 et with a wideband and datalogs does it matter? The more I read it sounds like you disconnect the vac line and set pressure to 43psi so that under a vacuum psi I drop to something in the neighborhood of 35. I am running MSII with a pallnet fuel rail and 440cc injectors. The injectors are a little on the large side so I can only guess that I may have more control of a low pulsewidth idle having slightly lower fuel psi. Any info would be appreciated. Chuck
  18. Yep, when one or both banks of my injector lights on the stim don't blink it usually means that I have a shorted out injector driver. Is a pretty cheap fix if that turns out to be the problem.
  19. You might want to pick up or build a stim board too. Using the stim and the tuning cable you can run megatune with ms unit out of the car. Would probably be a good idea so you at least know what version of firmware you have and that it is known to be good.
  20. Back on topic......has anyone built one of these boost activated cutouts?
  21. Running MSII settup and I had problems with random resets until I replaced my taylor plug wires with magnecores. Problem solved....at least for now
  22. This VES setup has been unavailable for quite sometime...wondering if anyone has seen a similar setup or knows where to source the parts needed to build one. Thanks, Chuck
  23. It has been a while but I had a similar problem. The mapdot would spike for what seemed like no reason so I am currently running with xtau disabled....I believe it is the source of the accel spikes. I figured it was my xtau settings rather than a problem with xtau itself. Chuck
  24. Total stab in the dark.....is it possible that power to MS is interrupted at some point during the cranking cycle. I had a situation where the car wanted to start while cranking but when releasing the key I would lose power to MS for a split second and the car would not start. So, are their any resets during or right after cranking? Total long shot but it might be possible. Chuck
  25. looking for some A/C components. mostly expansion valve and evap. Thanks
