  1. Just an update, i've decided to forego the heavy ka-t engine and go with a rotary. Here are some pics of the engine being rebuilt/ported. All work being done by Brian Cain bdc196@tx.rr.com . Ported throttle bodies, HOT! Haltech e6x and master power t70 turbo on the way. Car is scheduled to go to Sellers Equipped in san jose mid october, for full tube chassis build, and 10" body widening. Here's the rear end i'll be using, from a 88' turbo II rx7. Lsd, disc brakes, lots of aluminum. Sweet. This firewall wont last long Neither will these floors Curves Lots more to come soon! Thanks for looking.
  2. Hey guys...i've seen other gun posts on here so i thought i'd give it a go. I've been getting into shooting sporting clays lately, and am looking to purchase an over/under 12 ga. sometime soon. I've been looking at the beretta 686 sport, the onyx pro, and the savage arms milano. Does any body here have any experience with any of these?
  3. this is for a h1e, which is pretty similar. sorry for the quality, i had to take a pic of my comp. screen. I sent an e-mail to holset a while ago with the tag # on my hx35 and they sent me back a map for a hx30 in pdf form. I can send it to somebody if they want to convert it and upload it. Shameless plug: I'm also selling my hx35 soon. it's got a bullseye 12 cm housing setup for external wastegate and has a fresh rebuild. ZERO shaft play. Stock hotside housing also available, with internal wastegate setup included.
  4. All good info, thanks. I'll try to test drive one locally ASAP, hopefully this weekend. I take enough onramps at speed every day that excessive torque steer and a sloppy gearbox should definitely be kept in consideration
  5. Does anybody here have any experience with the Saab Viggen? I've been in the market for a newer car, i think it's time i gave up my 1980 corolla for something that goes over 75 mph and has more creature comforts. I've been looking at c4/c5 vettes, the porsche 930 , wrx's, but i really need something that's cheaper so i can finish my spitfire project sooner, and also not worry about insurance. I've read a few reviews, and most people seem to love them. Seems like good bang for the buck...plenty of power, decent gas mileage (high 20's, i've heard of some ppl getting 30+), roomy, etc. And with a few simple bolt ons, you can be well over 300 HP + 300 ft lbs torque. The only real con i've heard is the torque steer. What do you guys think? Btw, thanks to everybody who's put up with my e-mails about the aforementioned cars.
  6. I'm looking to make some cement spheres (from 120-300 lbs), for strongman style stone lifting. I'm worried about the spheres cracking or breaking if i drop it on my patio, or driveway. Can somebody tell me if there's anything i can mix with the cement to lessen the chances of this happening? Thanks.
  7. There's a bumper i desperately need but i can't pick it up tonight... It's close to I-80 and norwood ave. I'll be more than happy to paypal you the money, plus some extra for your time, and even bring you a 6 pack of your favorite beer when i pick it up this weekend (sunday?) Please shoot me a pm.
  8. Aux - Are those pics from hollister? I went there on sunday...Sadly, I saw a dodge intrepid on 22" spinners, and a brand new montero on dubs.
  9. Things finally got underway with the ka-t spit. Got the body off the chassis, cut out the old roll bar, in the process of mocking up the s13 rear end. Next step: tube chassis construction. I'm debating if 17" wheels are going to be too big for this wee car.
  10. 2 hours to go... Not quite how i would've done it, but still cool. I think it needs bigger brakes if nothing else.
  11. I don't know if you're into fitness at all, but it's a booming market. I've been in the personal training/fitness coaching business for a couple years now. I work on avg about 15 hours per week, and make over $30K a year. Not bad for side work.
  12. Full time store manager, almost full time personal trainer, part time student, full time stud.
  13. I'm making custom mounting points off of either my roll cage or the tube chassis...havent decided yet. i wont be using 240sx shocks though, probably AFCO double adjustables. i dont think that helps you much.
  14. I run my own personal training business as well as working for the Stanford University School of Medicine. I got this e-mail today, titled "Yoga Instructor Needed", which peaked my interest, and this is what it said: Hello , i need a teacher for my child, and my child told me that is interested in knowing it.Since i have the came across your email on the net ,my child is just 18yrs of ages i understand that you are in (us)because he will be coming from Netherland,i think that is my opportunity because is coming to (us) for an holiday so i want to make used of that opprtunity,i believe that you can bring out the best in him,i am willing to you by the means of CERTIFIED CASHIER'S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER,Give me you price for an hour,so that i can know how to proceed on the payment, and before that i will like to know; 1.Price for the lesson for an hour 2.cost for the lesson for 3 times in a week. 3.Total price for the lesson for a month. 4.Your location i.e (city and state). 5.Phone Number. I'm guessing this is just another scam to be ignored? -Cam "rustrocket"
  15. This program hurts my head, and i need to make a simple mockup / stress anyalysis of my tube chassis before it's welded. If anybody would be willing to help me with this, it would be appreciated. Thanks -Cam "rustrocket"
  16. My spitfire is in the shop having a tube chassis built. The front and rear track width are going to be increased by 7-8 inches. This may sound like a silly question, but is it worth widening the tub (cut it long ways down the middle and add metal in between)? I'm already having custom skins made for the floor/firewall, and i have a spare spit tub that's been sitting for 7 or 8 years doing nothing. What do you guys think? The other obvious option is flares... What do you guys think?
  17. Doh!!! i practically live in san jose. Oh well, i appreciate the thought. -C
  18. There's a fiberglass hood that i want for my spitfire (it'll save me 70 lbs!!), but it's in houston and i'm in the San Francisco bay area. If anybody is planning on making the trek within 3 hours of me, i'd be willing to throw some cash in your direction. Thanks for your help. -Cameron rustrocket
  19. I used to own one of these cars. It was fun, but underpowered, heavy, and didnt handle all that great. It was mostly original with clean interior (although it did need carpet). Save up your pennies and try for an earlier stingray with the chrome bumpers, they hold their value better. -Cam
  20. I'm expecting full spool around 3500 rpm, which come to think of it, works great. IT'll keep me out of boost below 90 mph in 5th gear, which should help the gas mileage. And if my redline is set around 7200 or so, that's a decent useable powerband. Olderthanme - i look forward to seeing your turbo system completed.
  21. While it appears doable, it seems almost prohibitively expensive, at least in my case. I dont think i have the skills to tune and match turbos to get the most out of the setup.
  22. Hey all. While searching for ways to increase low end on my turbo KA motor, i came across this, albeit for a diesel engine. Could i do the same thing using a smaller t25 turbo for low end attached to my holset hx35 for mid-top end? I'm aware of the heating issues...the intercooler in the picture must be testament to that. well...?
  23. I posted a while back about help with my spitfire chassis. Thanks to the people who have helped thus far. I've looked over a few designs and have come to this basic setup for a tube chassis. Please let me know what you guys think. I'm using a narrowed 240sx rear end, and a 240sx ka24de turbo engine. Any suggestions for lightness/rigidity would be appreciated. Looking to build this out of 2x2 .125 aluminum tubing. My buddy has a die that'll bend square tubing, so any hard angles you see on the chassis itself will all be bent. Thanks for the input Note: drawing not to scale.
