SO does this make six?
-
I've got a couple. Ever come down this far south?

inaccurate, depends on the holset used. the Hy35w's with 90 degree elbows pre-cast into the compressor housing fit without the use of a spacer when clocked right. grind off the stock wastegate actuator flange, the clock it so that the 90 degree elbow is either very close to the intake manifold, or very close to the frame rail. it will fit.
Excellent information. Thanks for the clarification!

I'd call and see if they can match the 89mm bore.

I don't know if you've already thought about this, but if my memory serves me correctly the Holsets need a 1/4" spacer between the turbine and the manifold; I noticed you had no spacer. Have you checked clearances?

HAHA Great read! And I'm going to start doing that, Tony lol..

see, the real reason they put the volvo badge on the front is that it makes the car invulnerable. The walls know they are going to lose to a volvo, so they jump out of the way
lmao!!!!

I like both.

Clarify: CHLORINATED brake cleaner and welding do not mix. This was already posted here, but it doesn't to be mentioned twice

I believe you're looking for the "choke cable" hookup. I can't tell you exactly (as it's been a while since I've worked on a Z that had them), but using those search terms may help you locate the answer easier.

THe reason for using wiper fluid is because it is actually 50% methanol/50% water

Paul, This is an N42? It looks like a "P" head to me.
No, it's an N42. They welded up the combustion chambers so it's a closed design. You can tell by the depth of the CC.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think it may also be a locked dizzy so it doesn't pull a bunch of advance timing. I may be totally wrong there but I think that is why.
Correct. As NA and turbo motors require different ignition curves, in order to keep an NA dizzy for a turbo swap the mechanical advance needs to be locked.

IMHO, there are people out there who will fork out an extra $2K JUST because the steering wheel is on the right side!

I have a more practical reason for you to not drop a V8 in there: you're getting a car with questionable structural integrity (rust, etc) and don't plan on doing any chassis reinforcing. That's a recipe for a twisted chassis when you throw in the torque from a V8, or even a turbo swap. Also, in many cases an American V8 swap into a relatively rare "JDM" vehicle will decrease the resell value should you decide to ever sell it.

Did you check the timing>

Hey Evan, This turbo has a pretty small compressor map. You can use this site squirrel Performance and kinda get a idea to what you are looking at. Does the surge clear up at a certain RPM?(my guess is around 5 Krpms)? You will see the surge line to the left. If at any time you are over in that area, thats when you will get the surge. so if third gear is a really long gear and your at say 300 and nail it.. you could be over in that area until the higher RPMs to where the turbo is working for you.
here is the link to the site. you can punch all of your data in and see what turbo combinations are good for you
Not trying to threadjack, but that Squirrel Performance site is very useful. Does anyone have any engine-specific.... specifications that we can plug in there? I.e. VE for stock L-series or RB?

You didnt eat the cookie did you....
All the way to the balls.

garvice - Just a thought: I see you're in Australia. Is it possible the place where you got the car dynoed had it set up for kW instead of HP (even though the graph says HP)? 185 kW = ~248 WHP

Brawndo mutilates your thirst. It's got what plants crave.
And fruits and vegetables are free. You just have to pay the farmers and have to pay for the land. They come from fruit and vegetable trees.
