Sorry, left that out. You must lay on your stomach.

Got to see 4 Tomahawks today at a gatering in Sacramento. Also met the designer/producer. The Tomahawk has a custom fiberglass dash cover that is way cool. And he will sell it by itself if you like. Unfortunately he doesn't have a shop right now to produce them. That is supposed to change soon though. $130 finished in black gelcoat but can be painted (to match the body like the Tomahawk if you like). I told him to send me the next one out of the mold. I'll let you all know when it arrives. This is a much better alternative to the caps if you have a cracked dash and want a custom look.

James, buy the JTR manual--you'll be glad you did. Davy Why retype.

Sawzall. Carpets in, 3 minutes. Nuff said.

Only 15? Right on James! Get started early on this insanity. If you were older and richer I'd say look for another tranny. But you're 15, so you're broke. Just like all of us were when we were 15. So bolt it together and have fun. Save your bucks and improve it as you learn. Got a Dad or uncle to help?

Hey Mike, how about some options for the stock hood vents? Maybe something like the side vents on the BMW Z3? Kind of an overlapping clam shell look. Mold in some screws so it bolts right in. I'll buy your first set.

Eh, not too muddy. How sure are you on the cap? Datsun came stock with a 13lb cap?

Thanks guys. I checked the Camaro book. Doesn't have a connection to the water pump. But it does show the direction of flow. Comes out of the intake manifold, to the heater core, out of the heater core into the top right corner of the radiator, just below the radiator cap. I have the small camaro radiator. I checked with Eric of ZParts. He said water flows through the Datsun heater core; in through the lower hose, and out through the upper. So, does that sound right to you?

The 300ZX was fuel injected, right? If so, the tank should have the baffles or chambers that are needed. As far as the pump flowing enough fuel, The JTR TPI/TBI book saysthat a high pressure pump from a 280Z is adequate for a 350 TPI. Sounds like a safe bet to me. I tried to retrofit that camero pump into an other tank. Low odds on that one. the f bodies had a strange shaped tank.

Fuel Infected at last:) Alive and rumbling:)
Dan Juday replied to Modern Motorsports Ltd's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Ok, so I'm running a baffled sump on my fuel tank. So I don't really need another pump to feed the ford external pump, right? Sorry if this sounds stupid. I'm ready to buy a pump and all this talk of two pumps has me second guessing (No pun intended). Plus I'd like to be sure before I plunk down $'s on a non-returnable item. If this is the right pump, we could be very close to starting things up! Dan -
Sorry, give you more info. On the '91 305tpi one hose connects to the intake manifold near the throtlebody. The other to a 5/8 outlet on the right top corner of the radiator. So, which one do I connect to the top hose coming through the firewall, and which to the bottom?

I went down to Napa today. They have that pump in stock, $116. However, counter guy told me something odd. He said the ford van uses two pumps, one in the tank and this one. Said the one in the tank provides pressure to this one. Without the one in the tank the external one will not suck up the gas. Does this sound right to you? I know there is a ford tech on this board, are you out there? -
Ok, I think I have this figured out. But I'm going to risk sounding stupid instead of doing something stupid. Which hose connects to the radiator and which to the motor? And what about this discussion about restricters so as not to over pressure the heater core and blow it up. Is it truly necessary? Has this happened to you? If I use a radiator cap rated at the same pressure as the Datsun won't this do the same thing?

Just an update for the curious. I purchased a set of front SubtleZ and rear YZ fenders from John Washington for my '73 V8Z. I wanted the width the YZ offers but wanted to use the stock headlight buckets. They won't work with the YZ fronts, no way, we tried. Those of you who look closely will notice differences in the details of the two designs. The YZ has no body crease line and no lip on the wheel opening. For a small charge, John laid up for me the lips off the SubtleZ rears which I will bond to the YZ rears. Discovered tonight this is not an easy fit. Also I will sand out the crease line in the front fenders, and my body man will take them out of the doors. Should look nice, a more rounded look. All fiberglass parts require some finishing, but the SubtleZ fenders are very clean. The YZ's are definitely rougher. But the curves of those rears are so sweet, I'm sure it will be worth all the work. I also acquired from John a LaMans style gas cap (like the ones used on the AC Cobra)and the fiberglass pocket that sets in into the fender. Anyone considering fenders should look at John’s site http://www.reactionresearch.com/ I highly recommend him. Very friendly, helpful, and professional. Delivery was prompt and he stays in communication with you to let you know where things are in the process. Dangerous Dan

You're an encouragement to us all! Told the wife last night that it's now realistic to make a list of the last things to do before starting the motor. She said, "Is putting the doors back on part of the list?" No.

Aluminum radiator-To BE or Not To BE......
Dan Juday replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Just a note. GM used that same radiator on it's full size vans with the V6. Only differance is the van one had a pet****. (Wonder if that will pass the cencors?) -
Ah, suicide doors. Do you think the DOT will ever let them come back? Oops, forgot about all those extra cab pick-ups.

Mine came off a '92. The fit is amazingly good when you consider. Also, get the plastic top rad mount off the Camaro. It doesn't matter if it is the big or small one. Mine was the big one, came off a '91. This works well with the Ford shroud. If you get the big one just cut a section out of the middle, easy. Also snag the rubber mounts, best way to mount it. I trimmed up all my parts with a chop saw, carbide blade. Done in half an hour and looks factory.

Well, I bought Flowtech ceramic coated from Jegs for less than $200. Mikelly pointed me that way. They fit great. But, they are not big pipes, 1 1/2" I think. I'm running a stock 305tpi, so should be fine for me. If your running big hp you may be looking for bigger pipes. Seems to me that there was a thread here that referanced a page that dynoed verious size headers on verious engines. Not a lot of advantage to bigger pipes on most applications as I remember.

Hey Redline, Davy is right on so many levels, (are you a dad too Dave?). Don't buy anything 'till you get the book. Trust me, you'll need that money down the road. I would also encourage you pick up the TPI/TBI book. You don't have to be afraid of FI. I went that route because I want it to start everytime, first crank, no matter the weather. Welcome aboard, and remember what Davy says, family first!

Need info, can't find in JTR book!
Dan Juday replied to eugene's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Jason, that tap is straight theads BTW. I went looking for a metric PIPE tap, imposible. The standard tap shouldn't be too hard to find. My problem is I have 3/8 pipe in my heads, (the newer size). Some companies sell thermostat housings with 1/2 pipe hole in it for emissions stuff. Still wont help me. The throttle body on the tpi is to close. -
Hey Brian, I haven't read all your posts, but I bet you have heard this before, "buy the JTR book". This forum is wonderful and has been very helpfull to me. But I found it works best as a compliment to the book, fills in the gaps were the book leaves off. I pulled mine out to answer your qwestions, but discovered I don't have enough information on your car. This I can help you with: JTR sells a speedo cable, (DAT-111, 70" long, $59). Yes you can calibrate the tach but you should read that section in the book, depends on your distributor/tach model. As far as the fuel guage, nothing special there, just basic troubleshooting. Did you check the fuse? Good luck. Here is info on JTR: http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ © JTR P.O. If that doesn't work, try loosening the motor mounts to that wimp 6 and trashing it! Sorry, I'm just a little too enthusiastic. Actualy, try ebay. I got $130 for mine not running.

Ok, I'm nuts. But it probably doesn't matter. I called them today. I was immediately put on hold for FIVE minutes. Hung up and called back prepared to tell that guy "No I won't hold". No luck, I got a machine that asked me to leave a message and number and they would call RIGHT BACK. Well that was at 12:27pm today. Take a guess, yup still waiting.

Sorry BLK, maybe it's my 'putor. I did find it in the listing from that part#. But didn't find a picture.(???) Maybe I'll call them tomarrow.
