  1. I haven't seen the fenders yet but I've seen the molds. The Subtle molds are very clean and complete. Much higher quality than the YZ's. The YZ's were lifted from the original fenders while still on the car. They even have the imprints of the DZUS fittings still in them. I would guess the Subtle would be an almost bolt and paint deal. The YZ is going to be more work. I'll know soon enough. John will be shipping me a pair of each next month.
  2. Hey guess what, They updated that page. It's not there anymore. I spoke with John Washington about doing some. He was thinking about doing some in stainless steel. I'd like to see something in fiberglass. Maybe we can petition him to get going on them. Threaten him with money!
  3. Does anybody know of a bolt on replacement hood vent for the '78 hood that is different from stock? I thought I saw a refferance to one in the forums somewhere but I haven't been able to locate it in searches.
  4. Here you go: John Washington John@ReactionResearch.com Reaction Research/VR Engineering 2149 E 5th St #103, Tempe, AZ 85281 (480) 967-3289, Fax (480) 967-3391 http://www.reactionresearch.com/
  5. Yes, this one is a little strange. To do something like this takes a tremendous amount of work and money. They did an excellent job. The propotions and the lines blend very well. The person who did this has a lot of talent. It just seems misdirected. The appeal of the car would be way to narrow for any commerial venture. This looks like the fulfilled dream of one very devoted and talented man. I'll pass on this one, but I can't wait for his next project.
  6. Hey, here I am. John will be shipping my fenders the end of next month. The fenders are finished and ready to ship, but I'm not quite ready for them yet. Need to make room in the garage. He was gracious enough to offer to store them for me till then. John is great to work with. I'll let you know about the product when they arrive. But I'm sure I will be very happy. Dan
  7. Hang tight Silver. Take a vacation south to California. Less rain down these parts. I looked for about four months. I was sure the '73 I found was rust free. It was even treated from the original dealer inside all the panels. When I pulled the motor and the front fenders I almost cried. Many hours spent grinding, sandblasting, welding. Holes in frame rails can bring on clinical depression. The guys are right, if you see rust there is much much more you don't see.
  8. Does anyone know about the MSA mirrors? They look pretty nice in the pictures, and they come ready to bolt up. Kind of pricey at $160/pair. But if I'll spend $150 on a gas cap....
  9. Hey Frank, tell me how you are doing the bumperless smooth rear panel? I plan to do the same, moving the tail pipes to a hole in center just below the license plate. I have a '73. I know the rear lower valance panels differed greatly from year to year. Mine is pretty beat up. I was thinking of just cutting the whole thing off and starting with a freash piece of metal, but that is one big compound curve.
  10. Boy that was quick. http://www.arizonazcar.com/buckets.html Oh wait, this is that grouch isn't it. I'll keep looking.
  11. Eric at ZParts says Nissan used metal and plastic buckets but NEVER FIBERGLASS (don't mean to shout)(huh, how do I underline). It came up because when I pulled mine off I had one of each. Back on the subject, I know I've seen filled fiberglass buckets by themselves out on the web somewhere. I'll look around and post what I find.
  12. Jason, Here is a kit to do exactly what you want. http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/240z.html Scroll down, it's called,"Glassworks filled fender convertion". I know nothing about this company except that they never replied to an e-mail I sent them several months ago. Anybody know more?
  13. There's a gal here in town that has those things on her little yellow Miata. Just DARLING!!! Wouldn't you love to see them on a Vette? Oh man, I just barfed on my keyboard.
  14. Search the archives! I wrote a fairly long post on how to do this. I identify the wires and offer one way to wire it, but it can be done a couple of ways. Basicly you need two temp switches, (a low and a high) and two relays. What you want to avoid is powering the high and low at the same time.
  15. Very nice work Eric, both yours and his. BTW, cleaned up the hood and set it in place when I got home. The vents sit right over top of the headers, incredable! What was Nissan thinking?
  16. Don't realy want to change my gages. The problem is that the Datsun sender is just slightly smaller than 3/8npt. It will screw in very loosely. Any bushing would look like a Heli-coil. I thought about some type of adapter, but also had concerns that it would not be "in" the block. The thermostat housing I'm using has a 1/2"npt hole in the top of it. I put a plug in it. Can I use that?
  17. Help. My '91 305 has a 3/8" npt water temp sender. How, and or where, do I install the Datsun unit? The JTR book tells you how to adapt to the older 1/2"npt hole, but is snickeringly silent on the new 3/8" hole.
  18. Just a note: I have a '73 and I did not have to cut out the supports, just the tranny brackets, and I had lots of room for the T-5. Also, I found a sawsall worked perfect. In and out in five minutes, maybe less.
  19. Hey Fairlady, DavyZ is right up to speed. I drove 2 1/2 hrs. to GM sport salvage to get mine. $750 included everything. Make sure you tell him what you are doing so you can get the whole package. When I got home I found the slave cylinder was cracked. One phone call, they sent me a NEW one, not a yard part. Another note: Mine came out of a '91 Firebird 305 TBI and has the .62 overdrive.
  20. I used to laugh at this, so called, rule of thumb. "Before you start the project figure the absolute most it should cost and double it". I'm now living it. This is why so many projects never get finished. "Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Will he not first sit down and estimate the cost to see if he has enough money to complete it? For if he lays the foundation and is not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule him..." Luke 14:28&29
  21. Wait a minute! Let's revisit RPMS idea. In fact, I'll go one better. Use boat headers! Go through the hood, run the pipes over the top and down the hatch to make an external roll cage, ala Land Rover.
  22. Lone, you're right. I have this set-up, the 15 degree tilt, and the shifter is offset to the driver side. Enough so that I had to trim the hole about 1/2" to clear the stick. I haven't heard or read about anyone else having to do this, maybe it's just my car. I've come to discover it's not the straightest one,(urg!).
  23. I did what Blueoval said. I took the fuse box from the TA with the motor. All the motor stuff (injectors, vats, fuel pump, fan, ECM) runs off that box. I now have lots of extra places to run other things off of.
  24. I paid $750 for a '91. Sounds like a great deal to me! Make sure you get that Camero bellhousing.
