  1. im using the stock 280zx AFM, i was thinkin of goin megasquirt, does it make it so that i don't need to use an AFM at all?

  3. i was always told that if u rev it up in park/neutral that it would eventually limit the RPM's, i guess those ppl were tellin me the rong things.... btw, hows the weather in good ol' canada, its freezing here in Virginia, so i no that its gonna suck up there btw, with that MSD system, do they also make sumthin where i can tune my shift points on the automatic?
  4. thats rite, datsunlover is from canada, eh......i forgot the price diffrence, i actually have an automatic, i wasn't driving it, i was just revving it up in the driveway when it decided that it didn't want to limit my rev...i dont do it often-it was just those 2 times that i did that Does it seem normal that i can rev it that high just sitting there, not moving, and not in gear.
  5. i'll check ebay to see the prices, plus, the built in rev limiter would help a bit, cuz i don't have one
  6. i didn't no that if u goto Megasquirt that u don't need to use the AFM nemore, wht else can u get rid of by installing one of these systems? I always hated the AFM, doesn't go well with the look of the engine, it keeps u from having that nice looking intake that u always want
  7. how much would an MSD set me back? i called nissan, and the only way i can get that box through them, is to get a brand new distributer, and hell no im not gonna spend 425 dollars for that, my distributer is fine, just the box is bad
  8. mayb so, cuz i floored it, and it tached all the way up, and it kept goin, then i left off the gas

When i decided to rev my car all the way up(i dont do it often, i only did it once or twice)...i found out that i can rev all the way past redline, and it will still go higher, even past 8000, is this normal, am i not supposed to have a rev limiter, 1981 280zx-did the stock ones not come with revlimiters, or could this have sumthin to do wit my Ignition control module(i think its bad neways)

  12. well, i replaced the coil, dizzy cap, rotor and plugs, so i kinda doubt that the air gap is off(its preset isn't it)- i new that the rotor and dizzy cap were bad cuz it idled like crap-replaced that and it idles perfect-or as close to perfect that a 23 yr old car could. No big deal, just like 40 bux, but it was running awesome, then i called my frend over to show him that it starts, and nuthin..........damn. How much do u guys think it would b for a new ignition module?
  13. the car turns over, but it doesn't fire up, it will work every now and then, but then i goto start it a few minuts later, it turns over and thats it, no fire
  14. would that make it so that it will fire up one minute, but when i goto start it a few minuts later-it wont start?
  15. its a ZX, so ur saying the black box next to the Dizzy cap could have just crapped out on me-wht should i do about that? get a new one, or rewire it
  16. I replaced the fuse link and temperature sensor, it ran for awhile, then i started it up again, and it won't start Wht next?
  17. for rite now i don't wanna put a big ass hp motor in, im gonna put the V8 and GM tranny in, i don't have the money rite now for big ass HP, so imma put in a mild HP V8 in, just untill i can build my own motor, cuz its alot easier to swap 1 V8 to another later on- this way i can still have the wow factor of a V8 and have more HP than the 6 i have in it.

  19. that was the first thing i tried, i fixed the grounding system, and battery terminals, but i blew a fuesable link-and im getting one tday, and i plan on getting a temperature sensor-becuz i heard that could b a problem too

I've been working on my car alot lately, and when i tried to adjust the timing it didn't work afterwards- i didn't even do nethin to it- i just disconnected the battery, and then decided i wasn't gonna do it-now it won't start, i did reconect the battery, and it won't start, i swapped the coil,cap, and rotor, and it fired rite up-then later on that nite, it wouldn't-this morning i got it to run, then shut it off, and it does the same thing-wht could this b
  21. i searched the site for donor vehicles, and the only post i found was the one about a Carbed 350 wit a 5 speed I wanna get a carbed engine too(less wiring, plus after my Z-i never wanna deal with old fuel injection again), but i want an Automatic, cuz my Z is auto, and i'd like to keep it that way(not to say im lazy, but its just alot easier to deal with at times, and i dont wanna hafta set up a cluth pedal and linkage) Can neone think of a Carbed, Automatic(don't care how many speeds)-prefferably a 327 or 350 and higher?, i don't mind about the output, becuz im gonna put a better V8 in there sumtime-this is just to get me around untill then
  22. the easiest way to check for a HG sealing problem is to check ur coolant and oil, if u have oil in the radiator or if u have coolant in the oil pan-then its not sealing rite and it may b blown.
  23. the V8 kit for a 280zx is diffrent from ne other Z, or are u talking about a 300ZX?
  24. on my 81 ZX, i had no fuel pressure-wht i did was clamped off the fuel-return lines, and it fired up-it ment that my Pressure regulator crapped out..if u clamp off the return line and the fuel pressure goes up-then u have a bad FPR, i found mine on an old maxima
  25. What is the widest tire that you can put on a STOCK 280ZX wheel, i plan on getting the wheels widened later-for more rubber, but for now i just wanna stay wit those stockers
