  1. The ZXT T5 I bought and was trying to rebuild, is not a W/C T5. First gear has welded itself to the input shaft, so its trash. I have another W/C T5 from a different car. I've done some measuring, and it seems to look like all the W/C internals will go in the non-W/C ZXT case. Is this possible? I know the splines would be different, but that is always fixable. Thanks guys!
  2. It's not a mustang T5, its out of an 83 ZXT. I didn't know I could install a WC kit in it, I did a search last night, and it looked like I couldn't do it. I already have the transmission apart. All thats left in the case is the cluster gear, but I don't know how to get it out, and it needs to come out so I can change it. Any idea how to do that?
  3. I'm trying to figure out how to remove the cluster gear from a T5, but can't seem to get it... Anyone have any idea? Thanks.
  4. I am going to attempt to do this swap with my 78 280z. I think I have everything I need. I have the MAF, ECU, and chopper wheel from an 84 300zx. I have the wiring harness from an 81zx, the dizzy from an 82zxt and the shaft. There is one thing I am not sure about... I have the zxt shaft, but do I need the zxt oil pump as well, or will that shaft fit in my stock oil pump? Later on I plan on switching to a 87-89 ECU so I can reprogram it to suit my needs. Any thing else important I should know? Thanks!
  5. Clearing out epoxy is easier said that done. But if the gasket never fails then it would be a nice easy fix.
  6. Yeah, if you could get a casting made that would drop the construction price considerably also, which would make more people want to buy them. If they were affordable I'm sure people would buy them rather quickly. I would, but not for 5k. I simply can't afford it. Do the water and oil passages line up on the head and the block?
  7. Its the same thing as what TurboBlueStreak was doing... I wouldn't call it a hack job though... He's obviously put a lot of time into it for someone to call it that...
  8. I don't really understand what you're saying... Looks like your talking about converting a gas engine to run diesel...
  9. See post 11. I'm almost positive the bolt holes line up, but the spacer holt down thingy don't quite make it... You'd have to weld some more metal on there, or get bigger spacer things.
  10. Hell yeah! That looks awesome. I wonder if the heat from the light over time will make them fade though?
  11. It looks like the bolt holes line up, but I don't have any of the intake bolts to actually bolt it on. The lower bolts (with the big washer hold downs), however, do not work... Only 2 of the washers actually touch the manifold... I suppose you could get some bigger ones... I assume the ports line up, but I can't really check.
  12. I got my intake in the mail today, and I took a pic of the LD28 intake and the regular Z intake so you guys can see the difference. Here it is...
  13. I'd be interested to know whether it bolts right on or now... I'm making a custom intake out of one of these. BTW, the reserve on that one is set at $150... Pretty high, considering I just got mine off ebay a couple weeks back for $81, shipped to my door! A month or so back 1fastz (from zcar.com, don't know his name here) sold one on ebay for $250... One minute they're hot, one minute they're not.
  14. Only rare to the gas powered L series engines. LOL! That manifold is off of any LD28 diesel power maxima. It has no TB, because of that. I've read that it will not bolt on to a gas head without modification, but don't hold me to that. I've also read that it WILL bolt onto any some later heads (N47, P79, P90), but I don't know why it would bolt onto some but not others... Makes no sence... It has 35mm runners, as compared to the Z intakes we are fimiliar with that have 30mm runners. The stock head port size for a Z head is 35mm. It also has no injector bungs for your injectors because deisels didn't have them (on the manifold anyway). It has longer runners, which would give more torque also. If you want to use this intake you will have to modify the holes so it will mount up to a gas head, make a custom plenum to adapt a throttle body, or adapt a TB to the stock one, and drill holes for injectors, and weld on the mounting hardware for the injectors.
  15. Is it a World Class T5? They are stronger than the other T5s... I'd use the T5 just because of the OD... Gas mileage is gooood.
  16. Thats it! Heh... And it just so happens to be your car. Thanks!
  17. I found a pic of an S30 with z32 lights... I'm going to use the center panel also when I do the swap. I think it would look better that way. What do you guys think of this?
  18. I searched several times, but I just couldn't find any topics for the Z32 tail light swap. I haven't been able to find them since the old board. I'm interested in doing this to my 76. Anyone happen to have the link to them? I know one was VERY detailed, I saved it, but I got a new computer and my old one is gone. Thanks guys!
  19. There is one here one ebay that looks really clean, and pretty cheap, but the shipping may kill you though... It only has one hour left, so if you want it you had better hurry... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33615&item=7939014893&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
  20. Brad... Where did you pick up the 81? Did you get another Z? One project at a time buddy... Right now you've got like 2 unfinished ones sitting there.
  21. Now you're thinking... If you got a shopping cart you could just cut out what you need and it would fit! You wouldn't have to mold and fill a whole bunch of dead space to make the ford grille work.
  22. Sorry to hijack the thread... Brad, I believe a stock powerglide has a 1.56 first gear. A powerglide will definitely help you out of the hole! You gotta have low gears though, which I see you do. The only reason I say I want a T56 is because you won't be able to find a free one, and it will be an ungodly ammount of work to get in in the car. See how bad I don't want a v8 in it?
  23. Big cams bleed off compression... If you really have 8.4:1 (no one really knows, not even you) you'll be down into the 7's. You can kill an engine in a big big hurry if you have too much cam with no compression. This thing will be a sogy dog down low, and it will be no fun in everyday stop and go driving. I'm not just saying this because I want you to sell me your cam way cheap, but because it's the right thing to do, before it's too late!
  24. So you went and bought that 240, huh Brad? I thought that Joe was gonna buy that 84 turbo coupe? No deal, eh? So you're going to fix all of these up before you sell them, or would you consider selling one the way it sits right now? Let's see some pics of the 240
