Update: I contacted R1Concepts today and found that their 240Z front rotors are NOT vented. I had thought that they were. Since I'm looking for a vented front rotor set up, I inquired about their 84-85 300ZX front replacement rotors. They confirmed that their Eline or Premium rotors for this application ARE vented. Here are the two options......pricing is per pair. http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/Item.aspx?sck=5927&SKU=emf08102%20-%20121.42034&caSKU=emf08102%20-%20121.42034&caTitle=NISSAN%20300ZX%2084%20Brake%20Rotors%20-%20E-Line%20-%20Front http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/Item.aspx?sck=5927&SKU=pmf08102%20-%20120.42034&caSKU=pmf08102%20-%20120.42034&caTitle=NISSAN%20300ZX%2084%20Brake%20Rotors%20-%20Premium%20Series%20-%20Front Even though I've yet to see any of their products, I've got to give them props for proactive customer service. I shot them a couple of emails today asking quite a few questions and each and every one was responded to promptly.

Has anyone here purchased products from this company or know of their quality? They seem to have their act together and offer a wide assortment of braking options. I'm thinking about using these stock sized vented rotors with the Toyota 4x4 calipers. http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/Item.aspx?SKU=pmf08094%20-%20120.42011&caSKU=pmf08094%20-%20120.42011&caTitle=NISSAN%20240Z%2070-7/73%20Brake%20Rotors%20-%20Premium%20Series%20-%20Front Opinions please.

I currently have all the suspension off my 240 and I'm beginning to break them down to rebuild/refinish. I've been trying to maintain a level of organization in my small garage as I work on the project. Shelf space is at a premium. I'm trying to open up some additional storage spots on the shelves for more of the components. I ran across these two items that the PO had included with the car when I bought it. I believe they are the 260 HVAC assembly and the blower motor. Both units appear to be factory NOS. Since I'm going with a Vintage Air setup I don't need these and would like to part with them. 1. From these pics can anyone help me confirm what they are? 2. Any thoughts on what would be a fair asking price? Thanks!

I have two items that the PO had included with the Z when I bought it. I've been told they are a 74-78(?) NOS complete heater/AC setup and blower motor assembly. Since I'm going with a Vintage Air I don't need them. I'd like to offer them for sell here to another HybridZ member at a fair price. Is it permissible to post pics of items to: 1. confirm what they are (I am not sure) 2. solicit input on what would be a "fair" price (I do not have a clue) Thank you

Jason, I'm really happy to hear that you're home and the surgery went well. Best wishes for a continued speedy recovery!

Anyone care to weigh in?

I've read and re-read all I can find on the R200 swap. I've searched and double checked the "stickies." I continue to see conflicting thoughts on the R180 vs R200 front diff mount. Are they the same? Thanks! for example:

batou... IMHO, I don't think you should try this apparoch with the suspsension still in place. I feel these options are best suited for tilting just the bare shell.

I see what you are refering to. I would probably go with a design something like this.

Trevor, Wouldn't the side load stress be the same as with a normal rotisserie?

Challenger (and others) I suggest looking at "Sintra" board. (There are also many generic equivalents) We use it in our shop regularly. It has roughly the same stiffness as a piece of 1/4” plywood. The price for a 4’ x 8’ x 6mm is about $125. It is a light-weight strong plastic sheet material. It’s primarily used in the sign making industry and has excellent outdoor properties. It is easy to work with, cuts with standard wood working tools, can be glued together with PVC cement and is paintable. It can also be thermo-formed. Here are a few links I found with some more information. http://www.alcancompositesusa.com/prod_sintra.html http://www.solarbotics.net/starting/200207_sintra/200207_sintra.html http://store.foamboardsource.com/sintra-pvc-foam--sintra-pvc-board--sintra-pvc-6mm.html Might be what the doctor ordered?

Mike kZ, Makes me a little nervous too, but I did see they all have some kind of stop incorporated into them. goldfish, I don't have easy access to metal working/welding equipment required to modify stands and fab cross support pieces. My plan is to tilt car, clean bottom, temporarily attach Bad Dog rails with screws, pay welder to stitch weld rails, then apply underside coatings.

I hope to begin work on my 240Z LS1 conversion this winter. The body/interior were torn down by the P/O and stored inside (dry!) for over 20 years in his aborted SBC conversion. I'm starting with a really solid frame and floors. On my list of things to be done is add Bad Dog frame rails and finish bottomside. Ideally I'd use a rotisserie to access the bottom, but I don't have one. I do howerver have access to a complete wood working facility and have done a number of complex wood related projects in the past. I'm thinking about one of these ideas to access the bottom. option 2: upgraded w/legs or wheels Pretty creative IMHO! What do you think???

I've been doing additional reading on the R200LSD drive train swap with 300zxt axles. I've run into a number of bad links and references to info previously posted by a previous (?) HybridZ member “magshooterZâ€. Does anyone have a working web link for this info …or have it saved out in a different format that I could see? Thanks

A few times a year I travel south to our plant in Pensacola, FL. I'm always thrilled when I get a chance to see The Blue Angels practicing out over the Gulf of Mexico. I'll be outside looking up wide eyed with my jaw dropped open while the locals from the plant hardly seem to notice.

Hi Will, My oldest son Mike (Penn State EE grad 2008) just started as a field engineer with Schlumberger in June. He's working out of the Weston (middle of nowhere) WV office. They do offer a very attractive starting salary package. The hours are definitely not 8-5. The dress code is: company issued fire retardant jump suit, work boats, gloves, hard hat, and safety glasses. He typically goes out on jobs with a 3-8 man crew within a 150 mile radius of Weston. They are often at the muddy/dusty well site for 12-48 hours. He's currently back in OK for his 8 weeks of specialized training in cementing. (sounds like Dr. Hunt’s specialty) There are also a handful of other specialties available. After he returns from this training session he will be the "boss man" for a crew and have overall responsibility for their work. Thus far he enjoys the work but feels that he may prefer to transfer to a different location so that he’s closer to some bigger city activities when he’s off the clock. Good luck with your career search!

recent progress: some pics of my 1972 240z

Stunning! I think the wheels look great on the car! 16" wheels with a 50 series tire is a perfect balance of wheel/rubber on the S30s.(IMHO) Thanks for sharing the inspirational pics. -

Looks great! That brings back many fond memories. Between '74 and '82 I owned 3 different 710 wagons! Be careful, I'm not sure why but they are known to be somewhat addictive.
