  1. Good discussion! Pop N Wood & Wheelman >> I'm not certain that there is enough room for the second crossmember but I think there might be. Like you Wheelman I have more concerns about intereference with the steering shaft and the finished height of the engine. (May need to add an additional plate to the rails to adjust height?) LT1-280Z >> What a great looking Z. A stunning example of home brewed engineering with professional execution in every detail! To further this discussion, I'm posting an in progress pic from Bartman's great LT1 build that best shows the area of concern near the steering shaft and motor mounts. This helps me to visualize the issue but I'm still left scratching my head as to what might or might not work in regards to other mount designs(?) Here are some pics of other types of weld on mounts. Anything here of interest?
  2. There's a thread now posted over in the Ford V-8 section discussing "Speedway" motor mount designs for that application. I know the Ford guys are forced to create their own and to me this type/style looks like it might be a good solution. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/3274,405_SandB-Ford-Motor-Mounts.html I know that the JTR mounts are the tried and true! I think JTR's manuals are very informative; I've read and re-read both of my JTR manuals many times! I know that almost every pre-LSx swap uses the bolt in JTR mounts >> but whenever I look at them they just kinda look like a jury-rigged solution. (Please don't shoot me, just my opinion) Using an untried alternative solution will present many issues >> engine placement, vibrations, drive line angles and welding but that said, what are your thoughts around options something like these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TRD%2D4840&autoview=sku or http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/3273,405_Small-Block-Big-Block-or-90-V6-Chevy-Crossmember-Mounts.html (?) Thanks!
  3. This 240Z is listed on Ebay with a $6000 "buy it know" according to the text at the bottom. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-DAtsun-240Z_W0QQitemZ120188671172QQihZ002QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Seems way too good to be true - seller has zero feedback. Anyone know of this car?
  4. I love the 510 wagons! Your's is absolutely stunning!! Keep the progress pics coming!!
  5. Excellent write up! Great pictures! CAD drawings! WOW!! I believe this documentation is even better than JTRs manual. Maybe I'll switch to the Blue Oval team.
  6. Would you be willing to ship to me in PA? If yes, I'm definitely interested.
  7. I feel the Aztek is the hands down winner..... but with a lowered stance, some big wheels and side exhaust ????
  8. I don't believe this site has been linked before. I stumbled across it while surfing. http://www.conceptcarz.com/ http://www.conceptcarz.com/view/model/185/Datsun/model.aspx I thought there was some interesting information within. There is discussion on many different cars and some good "wallpapers" too.
  9. I've only posted a few times, but have been reading HybridZ almost ever night for three years. I'm putting together battle plans for my LSx 240Z swap but I'm still very much a greenhorn. I'm very interested in this thread. The rear drivertrain is certainly one of the weak links with limited options. Since the Jag IRS setup has already been mentioned I was wondering if anyone has seen this "custom" IRS setup from these guys, Concours West. Thoughts? http://www.cwiinc.com/jagsuspensions.htm I respect greatly the level of knowledge which is shared here.
  10. Scott, I have received and read my copy multiple times. I wanted to thank you again for going the extra mile and offering to share this well done documentation with the rest of us!
  11. Scott, Thanks for sharing your build-up and taking the time to document it. This will surely be a great benefit to those of us who are about to began our own projects. Please send a copy to gdv0412@comcast.net. Thank you!
  12. I was trying to learn how to post pics over in the Test Area.... ...then this GREAT "how to" is posted. Now even I can post pics like a pro! Thanks "BRAAP" (Paul)!
  13. Hello, I've been searching and reading posts almost nightly for the last two years. I've gained some much knowledge already and yet realize I've only scratched the surface. I feel this site and it members are very knowledgeable and the admins have worked hard at keeping this site and content A+. I've been so impressed that I've been a contributing member without even having a Z car. My question: On some searched posts I'm not able to see pictures that others apparently can see, at least based on their comments as seen in this link: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106974&page=3 On the posts by jmortensen I'm only able to see small boxes with a red X in the middle. Right clicking them and selcting show picture does not help. Any ideas? Still looking for a decent Mid-Atlantic 240Z-260Z car to work on.
  14. Bartman, I think this may be the item described by endurorider: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TRD%2D4840&autoview=sku I do like the look of this engine cradle. I'm not sure if the engine height would be correct without adding plates to the frame rails to allow attachment up or down???. Endurorider can you share your experience and any pics? I've been reading and gathering information from this site for the last 18 months. I've been planning my next project which will be a V8 Z. I have gathered so much valuable information from this well managed website. My hat's off to all the posters for sharing their knowledge. Likewise to the admins for keeping this a top notch website!! Regards Doug
  15. I agree, sounds great! I don't think I'd change anything. Great looking interior as well. What gauges are you using? I really like the way they look! Thanks!
