  1. So I was thinking today. Now keep in mind that I am 24 years old so this is going to skew somethings. Most of today's young woman are not really looking for something much different than they ever really were back in the day. This is a generalization of course but, I find that most woman are looking for the "bad boy" or at least are falling for them. Then in the end when they get older and more mature, they want the bad boy that in the end is not really a bad boy but just has confidence in who they are, and at the same time can be sensitive etc. Anyhow that in itself gets into a different discussion for another time and that is not exactly what I am looking to discuss. What I have found in common with woman now and before (meaning before my own personal time) is that the image of the bad boy is not that much different. He wears leather, tends to wear a lot of black clothing (its sleek and mysterious), may own a Harley Sportster. Now the thing I find HAS changed is the cars that these woman imagine this bad boy to be driving. That is what I would like to discuss. As time has gone by the the "bad boy"'s car has changed. Through out the years what have you found that the guys around you that have the "bad boy image" have been driving for a car? Was it a mustang? Vette? etc? So I am going to start from a more logical beginning in time range. What car did he drive in the 1960s? 1970's? 1980's 1990's and now the 2000's? I personally found that in the 2000's there has been a slight lean much more to the import cars. BUT when it comes down to it, the 350z/g35, mustangs, evo's, sti's, and f-bodies still dominate this era. The guys with the civics, eclipses, 240sx cars are still boy racers, and give off the I'm just a kid vibe to most females out there not the more manly "bad boy" image they tend to fall for. So that in mind (and I am noticing I am getting a little redundant here). What do you all think these guys drive in these time periods? On a side note PLEASE I really don't want to get into the politics of this discussion I am looking for strait forward answers (opinions on what you think, not your opinion on what you think about what others think- I don't care and that just causes pointless arguments so lets just keep that out of this please).
  2. You should start your own build thread so that we can follow it as i have here. The tko600 is another one I did not mention it even because of the price. Plus only being a 5spd vs the t56 (viper and zr1 trans etc) I had a m22 sitting around and I asked everywhere and I was still told that even the rock crusher would be a bad idea to throw money at. Plus I did the math and found that the auto would be cheaper and stronger in the long run. My car is not JUST for drag either if it was I would tub it and put in a strang 9" ford. I want the IRS because the car is going to be setup like the old street circuit cars that ran through st paul and Minneapolis back in the day (legal street circuit). Though it will be just a street car I want it to have that kind of performance. My Si is more for the track higher rpms and all (right now 8200rpm limit- will be 9500 with a b20z next year - and turbo)- the next car I am planning after this is a 95 m3 large single turbo and a m90 t bird blower combo for track racing as well. I am doing a lot of research on that now. It should be fun.
  3. btw don't run an m21 it will tear it apart. call the cad company the only couple trans that they rec. that are from the factory are the turbo400 and the t56 you also need to be able to hold to 500 foot pounds at 1800 rpm so as far as the diff goes at least a 12 bolt you want to keep irs than switch to a 8.8 diff. the only diff that possible will hold to it that is a nissan is the r230 I've been doing extensive research on the subject. the r200 you have in there now is not all that strong in comparison. I have yet to see a blown r230, but it will be a ridiculous amount of work to get that in the z31. may as well swap rear sub frames at that point. that is why I am going to use a built 8.8 ford t bird diff. The only thing I need to figure out is how to get the t bird axles to work with the hubs etc in my 78. more pics coming soon guys.
  4. Well not a chevy, ford, nissan, hmm... could it be a dodge... no- ick not a toyota motor is it? no.... how bought a big block caddy? sure hey why not... I've been buildin somethin'- http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad226/faytmorgan/2-1.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad226/faytmorgan/1-1.jpg

I tend to agree though- its not that i want to be "cool" its that I cant drive a slow car (slower than a 14 sec quarter) its like murder to my personality.

Trans problems (alot) with both of them- and the way i drive.... when the kid would not be in the car... yeah i can't. Plus I think i made it obvious that I am striving more for the rwd cars. I've driven both the coupe and sedan genesis. The transmission is very poor they fix that and i will buy it today. Though another thing is that I generally don't buy NEW cars. I can fix almost anything and the IS is not THAT old to me they were made till 05'. I do really love the tq of the g35s and smooth comfortable ride but when I want to swing it out sideways - here we go! As for the bmw deal i've gone back and forth with that- the thing is every Audi, BMW, Porche, Volvo, Saab and all those euro cars- whenever I work on them they always have problems. I see more problems with those cars then I do an old fiero. The only one I can even see myself driving for the reliability factor is the benz'. Fun factor- yeah they are fun but not worth the headache from my personal experience. I'm also NOT looking for an suv or truck. Just not my style guys. Also the 2+2 deal trust me i've considered that but I think I just NEED a 4dr at this point (unfortunately). The best two that I have seen are the g series (03 newer) and all the IS series. The m gets a little too big though I love them same goes for the gs series (lexus). BTW I have considered the is350... if I can get a stick, and the price was not too steep- you can only turn track off in the 07 up models. vega I just called lexus - yeah you can't get the 350 in a stick.... that's gayer than being stuck in Boy George's pants.
  16. Well the woman an I are thinking about having chidlens' and the first thought that came to my mind is duh- NEW CAR! So I've been doing some research- and I'm coming down to two cars that I find I can "deal" with being 4 door cars. (I own a 78 280z stick- and a 00' civic si stick - both two doors...- the woman a 95 cougar xr-7... a 2 door) The two cars I've come down to are the Lexus IS300 and the Infinity G35, so getting past that one is basically a Nissan to you enthusiasts out there. Which one do you think is the more reliable car more or less the better car all around? (btw I do know that the IS300 is not as quick but its got that 2jzg-e motor so it, as well as, they do both have potential for power in the future when the kid(s) are older). So which one and why do you think I should get it over the other? I am seriously looking at buying one or the other very soon. thanx in advance, Vega-
  17. For a real drag car 500 bucks is kinda well cheap. imo
  18. You cant spend only 500 dollars- at best get tires. Suspension parts cost a lot of money. Of all people I almost never say this but- search. Search google to be honest- look what it takes to setup a rwd car for drag racing plenty out there. Though sorry to tell you not for 500 dollars. sorry bud.
  19. We should have a minimum and maximum to rim widths and what will fit with stock suspension somewhere.
  20. So I've been playing around with this tire size calculator; http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp Though I guess I just have a quick question with the stock rime (I have the Iron Cross rims) on my 1978 280z 5spd car- what is the widest tire I can fit on that rim (with recommended height accordingly). I may be incorrect but from my understanding it is a 6" by 14" rim though I could be wrong. Also from what I can find 195/60r14 tires were the stock sizing (tire-rack). I had purchased the car with lower profile tires (which look not quite right imho)- I prefer wider taller muscle car styled tires with performance in mind. Thank you in advance to any help that may be provided vega-
