  1. my boost control is a manual one (check out www.turboxs.com), SDS is sitting in my closet with a 60mm TB, and I only run a custom downpipe. I will put the pipe plug in I'm just wondering why I can't turn my boost down. I don't wanna put that plug in only to have it over boost. How did you hook yours up randy? Did you remove anything?   2. ...I say that because I can't seem to get it low enough! I recently purchased a Turbo XS High Performance Boost controller and I have it on the lowest setting possible and I am still hitting the pop off valve. I sent Steve Nelson at TEP an e-mail on the off chance he'd had some correct info and all he said is weld up the pop-off valve. Well I'm getting an adjustable one because I'm not keen on blowing up my motor so by following his idea I'd still have no idea if I'm overboosting untill it's too late I would think. One last note is I have a T in my source line off the turbo going somewhere I can't see. Was I supposed to disconnect that or something else maybe? BTW I also have an Autometer guage hooked up and I'm running just an open custom down pipe. TIA
  3. How the heck did you do that?? stock I pulled a best of 15.7 I have a BOV, and I'm only running a custom DP for exhaust, and a boost controller at stock PSI my new best is 15.1 and I have a 5 spd
  4. Can we say LOUD?? Man I'm glad I'm buttoning up the exhaust this week, 'cuz I can't even drive it it's so loud. Sounds really great w/ the blow off and the spooling turbo. Called muffler tech and it's gonna be around $575 for my exhaust including making me a test pipe, using mandrel bends and welding on the EGR pipe. Found out my boost didn't seem to change at all, pop-off valve stays shut. Also found out my exhaust leak was from where the turbo mounts to the exhaust manifold. All the bolts seem to have loosened up and it blew out the gasket. I'm hoping if I can get it on a lift I can change that puppy out w/out removing the manifolds. You guys think it'll work?
  5. I kinda got the same feeling Mike Kelly did w/ his car and I did something about it this week! I'm about to go pick up my ZX w/ it's new Downpipe and Blow off valve. My TurboXS High Perf boost controler will be here tomorrow rush delivery and I think I should be able to get it in by the time I get the track tomorrow night. I'm gonna run maybe 8-10 lbs depending if I can get the 100 oct gas. My baby should win me my $2 bet next Wed. at the track! I'm gonna be havin some fun. Well some loud fun because all I'm running is the down pipe! Any ideas if that'll make my boost spike? I think it might so I'm driving it gingerly home so I can get my boost guage in tonight or so. If you think 10psi is too much non-intercooled please let me know! Thanks and wish me luck!
  6. hey Lone, You were saying you wanted more buttoned up exhaust. Well I'd recommend you check out Muffler Tech off Florin I believe. They do some great quality work at a very low rate. My honda friends got some great work there and I'm going there to get my 3" exhaust on my turbo ZX.
  7. Well I dunno about all that, but I know ppl who have used Blitz models w/ great results. One of the recent Turbo mags talks about the new SBC-id I think it's called and they changed the percentage thing. It's really good and I think I'm gonna go get one.
  8. I hate when people spend so much on upgrading the stock ECU, why not get a programmable system like SDS?? I also agree w/ lone it can be done but w/o perfect tuning it's good night.

Here's the plan: ATK rebuilt motor ('82) Rebuilt T3 Turbo (Maybe T3/T4 depending on cost) SDS Coil Pack system 240SX Throttle Body 390cc '86 Porche 944 Turbo Injectors Bosch Part # 0280150803 Pierburg Fuel Pump 3 in Mandrel Bent Exhaust HKS Super Sequential Blow off (or Blitz) Isuzu NPR Intercooler or Bell Engineering ACT Extreme 6 Puck w/ HD pressure plate MotDyn Lightened Flywheel Ok I believe w/ that I should make near 350hp? My problem is that from what I've heard the 280ZX has some bad squat problems and this will be a drag car and maybe road race/autocross. Now not many people have discussed 280ZX suspension so I was wondering if anyone could help? (Ross C?) Also can I make this a double attack vehicle? (drag/road race) I was planning on getting GC all the way around, camber plates all the way around, beefier sway bars, and poly bushings. So how do I combat the squat? TIA

  12. I got a Black Magic Fan to replace the stock clutch fan in my 83ZXT, well it's too thick! So I either have to buy a thinner rad or a thinner fan, I think I'll look for the fan. What CFM rating should I be looking for in a fan for my stock car? So unless I can some how make my fan fit my Black Magic is for sale, only thing I did was cut a bracket a lil but it's still intact. ------------------ Future 12 sec L28ET Driver

  18. I think it also takes a skilled driver. I've seen guys run cars at the track that should get high 13's low 14's and they would hit 16 at best! Always remember don't stage deep and leave at the 2nd yellow! ------------------ Future 12 sec L28ET Driver

  21. OK I have a stock (for the moment) 83 ZXT that I'm building up and I was wondering about the speedo. First of all it only hits 85 and 2nd of all if I change the tire size I know it will be off.   24. Hey Scottie I have a few questions. I hear the Pierburg pump will mount just like the stock Bosche fuel pump? Where can I get one and what flow rate did your buddy use? I'm looking to hit high 11's like your friend but I'm starting off w/ a 280ZX body. What injectors did he use? Did he have to modify them to work like the barb fittings?
