  1. I bought a T3 turbo earlier today that I found while scouring the local-ish junkyard. For $25 it'll at least gimme something to mockup with ...or so I thought. It definately has a T3 center section, I have a turbo coupe T3 so I know that it is a T3 center. Unfortunately the housings have me baffled. The turbine inlet flange is not square, it looks more like the chrysler 2.2 flange, but from what I've found online there was never a T3 installed on the 2.2. The turbine outlet looks like a chrysler also so I'm thinking that's where it come from. Do you guys know if a Garrett T3 was ever put on a chrysler? I'll try to get some pics up later if you need to see them

  2. OTM, why don't you paint your engine camo, that way you can represent to everyone that gets under your hood, but you don't have to wear your colors in polite society for everyone to see?

Wouldn't that be like wearing Camo underwear to a black tie event?

Come on OTM ...Its only primer!

  3. It needs rear brakes and a day or two worth of wiring to be operational. I will drive it before snow hits, I promise!

and YES, I am very happy with the results. Having the car acctually look decent when I come to work on it is a really uplifting feeling, knowing that there is hope. I'm finally finished with painting all the wheels, this week they will get new valves and the tires put back on. So she'll start looking like a car again. I'll put up some pics when that all comes together.

  4. Ahem...

I still have to do the white on the pass side, but I did manage to steal my friend's camera long enough to snap these pics. The red is acctually far more prominant in real life than these pics. I'm still not sure how much I like the hand cut 240z on the side. I'm probably going to try cleaning it up a bit next time I work on it.

btw, I'm really liking the uniformity of this paint scheme... The whole orange car, green hood was really getting to me...

  5. Trying to Shame me into finishing eh? That's just Low man... But effective! All I want to do right now is max out the cards and take out a loan or two and finish my Z just as imagined but reality has so far kept me in check. Your not helping you know. Anyways, I'd have to agree about the silver on the valve cover but other than that it looks fantastic!

  6. I've been in the local parts stores so often asking for totally random stuff that they no longer attempt to figure out what I'm doing. Of course before I go in I at Least know the year, make, and model the part is from. My local advance is acctually pretty good. They got my carb rebuild kits the quickest and the cheapest, on a holiday weekend no less! Also they are the only ones in the area that have a 240z valve cover gasket, head gasket, and intake/exhaust gasket In Stock! Figure that one out.

  7. With all the airplane guys around I'm surprised no one has ID'd it yet. Its acctually a Rotec 7cyl radial engine. They call it the R-2800 (to be confused with the pratt and whitney R-2800 of course) for its 2800cc displacement. They also build a 9cyl version R-3600. A $15,000 engine, hanging out in the breeze ...dont lay it down!! What I find interesting is that they put the engine output through the back of the engine with the accessories to keep the front side very clean looking. If any of you will be attending the EAA Airventure flyin this year, this bike is supposed to be there.

btw, there is another bike with the same engine floating around but mounted 90 degrees off as previously stated. Its interesting to think about because one is more aerodynamic and less torque effects but would have horrible cooling for half the cylinders while the other has great cooling but torque and aerodynamics could be a problem.

  8. Still not done but all I have left to do is the pass side. When I do that I'll take pics and post them. I'm sorry for my horridly slow progress and unbelieveably bad memory that insists that I dont have a camera when I acctually do something worth photographing. but I promise that the pics are coming, soon. I've got tuesday off from work and provided its not raining you'll get your pics!.
