  1. It's been too long for me to remember the measurements. You might be right about that...I ran my setup 10+ years ago and was very happy with it and wouldn't hesitate to go that route again. The L28ET swap was not as common then and I didn't have anything to compare. Times change and materials impove so there may be several more options available now. This just happened to be my experience and what worked very well for me.
  2. Yes, the stock clutch off a 90-96 300ZX turbo. Not totally qualified to say what exactly the horsepower/torque potentially is of the 280zxt clutch. So I will stick to the facts only:the limit is well below the Z32TT one in stock form. I can say I had zero clutch issues. Can't say the same about my transmission though at that power level. The stock tranny was not up to the task; I blew up my fair share.
  3. I would recommend you upgrade to the Z32TT clutch. If you look in my album you can see my L28ET engine that was tuned for 340hp. I ran a 280Z 2+2 flywheel and the disc and pressue plate from the Z32TT. No special modifications needed; it all bolts right up. Great grabbing and easily can handle your target 350hp+. Best of luck.
  4. I think you are getting some good advice from the others here. I would recommend you do it yourself as well. Research everything you want to do and start taking on the projects that you feel most comfortable with. For starters have you gone through the whole car yet for the basics like brakes, electrical, etc. I would highly recommend you make sure the car is safe and the chassis is solid enough to handle a V8 first. This way you have time to research and learn while still getting your car closer to your goals. My first Z I started with my suspension, electrical, brakes then worked my way up to the engine. Your engine won't be much fun if your car isn't safe and can't stop. Just my .02. Good luck,
  5. Rearview of speaker enclosure.
  6. I'll chime it here. John's recommendation is exactly what I was running before my Z got totaled (rear ended on the freeway) except I did run the polyurethane bushings on the rear TC rod. I had the aluminum bushings on the inner rear control arms in the beginning. I do not recommend those at all. I swapped them out for urethane later. I am only going to change to larger wheels on my next one. I can also vouch for the 5 way Illuminas with this set-up. I too was running 175f/200r and changed to 200f/225r. I found the movement of the car to be very predictable and nuetral. I was looking at additional power upgrades (just a mild L28 before) which is why I went stiffer to avoid the rear from squatting as much. Also, the #1 setting is welcomed after a day of road racing at the track and needing to drive 300 miles home. Don't be fooled this setting makes the car so much more tolerable to drive on the street without sacrificing handling.

  8. I'll be there too. Z-less as well...strippin for paint.
  9. 32 is awesome Jon! I can't compete with that, but I can share a little trick I used when doing long trips with the SU's. When going on a long trip knowing I would be at a constant fairly low rpm speed I would lean out my mixture a bit then dial back when in town again. I know it sounds cheap, but it does work. If memory serves i think I got about 2 or 3 more miles to the gallon.
  10. This is all sob worthy. Totally sucks, but I will point out a small silver lining. All our cars just gained more value.
  11. Totally worthless...soon to be a huge hit in neighborhoods near us all.
  12. Sounds like another lost bible sale story. Thanks for telling. I had something funny happen today. My buddy has a 70' 240Z that looks like someone smacked it with a baseball bat on every panel. Paint is uniform, but the whole car will need to be redone for all the dings. No lie. He is an all original fanatic, I mean a 5sp transmission is sacraligious in his book. So back to the story...I came by to give him a ride in my primer 70' 240Z with hopped up 2.8L with worked N42 head, triple 40DCOES, header, exhaust, MSD ignition...the works. I snapped his head back on the ride and he was impressed with the power. After he said,"that ought to be worth $300.. for the whole car". You thought you were insulted today? Perhaps thats how the baseball bat dings got started in the first place?
