hmmm maybe ditch the front fenders and adopt the Clubman style mud guards It would make for a unique zed.....I mean Z (I forgot most of you are in North America)
Less than a week after Bathurst and I'm doing a Motorkhana. Here is some video from yesterday:

Here are the Bathurst videos. Sorry about the quality. I didn't realise the camera tends to point up. Next time I will need to have them further down my nose.
It also seems sooooo much slower on video
That car is run jointly between John Cade and Rob Learmonth. Both are from Lismore. As I mentioned the build of the bonnet was inferior. The aluminium set into the Fiberglass was totally flat and only had about an inch set into the fiberglass. No wonder it ripped off.
As I mentioned in another thread I managed to race at Mt Panorama (Bathurst, Australia) over the Easter weekend. It was brilliant. One of our team in a zed had his hood ripped off while travelling at around 150MPH down the main straight (Conrod straight). It was a fiberglass hood and the mounts were terrible but it had pins as well. It peeled back at the nose and just ripped off. The pins at the back just ripped through the fiberglass. All the driver saw was a flash. The driver behind caught it on camera so hopefully we will see it on Youtube. But here are some pics of the repairs we made to get the car back on the track.
The point is though, at 150 MPH this proves there is still upward pressure on the front of a z hood.
Bathurst was great. Managed to get down to a 3.09. Not the fastest of times but I am happy with it for a first attempt. I think I was doing something like 150MPH down the mountain. Struggled going up the mountain though. Here are a couple of pics. There will be more to come when the professional photographers finish.
Here are the latest pics of my car. I have it all ready for a huge trip over Easter 1000 miles each way down to Mt Panorama (Bathurst). For those who don't know, Mt Panorama is one of the world's best tracks. Not far behind Road America and Nurbergring. Check it out on Youtube if you get the chance but be warned the footage does not do it justice. You just don't get a feel for the angle of the track when you are driving up and particularly down the mountain.
I have a 280zx with a VH45 mounted to a supra six speed. It is all mounted up but not running yet.
I need to solve a hood clearance issue, extractors, driveshaft, ecu, radiator etc etc.
I do have adjustable coilovers. So I can lower the car whenever I like. But I find the big wheels don't have enough clearance when I go lower and the bump steer increases. I have a few bumps around my yard so having a bit of clearance is good anyway. It doesn't seem to make much difference to my lap times.
Hey Newbie, fancy meeting you here. These messages must be making a 20,000Km round trip
Yeah, I was lucky enough to secure a spoiler just like the one in your photo. I added an extra 2 inches to the front lip and made a mold. I quite like the result too.
Hey guys. I am about to go racing at Mt Panorama. I expect to be doing about 130MPH or maybe a touch more down the main straight (Conrod straight) I have a slightly deeper than standard front BRE chin spoiler, a short MSA rear spoiler, headlight covers and open bonnet vents.
Based on the wind tunnel results (yes I know you can't combine results but I have no other choice) I estimate a reduction of overall lift from the standard 0.422 to 0.111
The standard lift of 0.422 requires 287 lb to counter. Do I understand correctly this means at that speed the car is 287lb lighter?
If so that means in theory my car will be 75lb lighter?
Is my logic sound?
Fair enough. No harm in asking right? I think I might be stuck then.
Here is a link to some pics of my car.

Hi, I am super keen to get a set of the axles. I have an event in Easter 2010 and really need to get the diff converted by then.
Otherwise I'll be travelling 700miles at 60 miles per hour doing 4000 rpm.
Then at the event I'll be limited to 120 miles per hour at 8000 rpm.
If I can get the conversion done I am hoping to hit 140 miles per hour.
Any way I can convince you to sell me a set early?
