    Congrats on the find, now fill us in on the details of what you plan on doing with it...like which V8? Remember that in California you will need to keep getting that car smogged (I believe the exemption is only for 75 and earlier), so that will somewhat limit your options.

     

     

    Bartman, does that change out there year by year? Meaning next year a '76 car will be exempted because it is more than 31 years old or is it just set in stone....'75 and earlier?

    Sept makes 1 yr for me. I did take the entire summer off because the car is still at school. Like it is stated before it all depends on the scale of what you are trying to do with the car. PLAN PLAN PLAN.....is the only way to cut down on time of any project. That way you don't waste time or money.

    I'd like to see a Zcar.com "L31DETT" Z vs. HybridZ.org "Blown SBC" Z show.

     

     

    I was just thinking that! What does the rest of HBZ think? On a serious note...... everyone wants HBZ to get back on tv so badly but I think there should be one common goal in doing so. If it is to get the site out there in a positive way and let the rest of the world know our lil Z's can be just as fast as any other car out there then it is fine. Or if we do it to get more Z owners on the road and show we are a tight "family" here then it is fine. But to do it just to be doing it cause we want to get back on TV and kick someone a$$ cause we got ours handed to us isn't the way to go about it. My hat goes off to the guys who put our name out there meaning anyone who donated money, time, etc. to make it happen.

     

    If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything!

     

    Now lets build a car with a purpose!

    Well hopefully when you get back in two weeks we can get this car running and go through the brakes. Buzz n Cygnusx1 should be around to lend a helping hand unless Cygnuxs1 needs to go the vet again or Buzz will need to put fenders on his car!

    Hey posting some picks of a friends car who is now a new member to HBZ. We just pick up this car 2 days ago an early '74 260z. Don't let the Jersey plates fool you....this car is now in NY. First step is to get it running and see what we got! The member that goes by the name flames_187 will chime in sooner or lata and he can tell you his plans for the car.....LSx maybe? :-)

    Well' date=' here is an update after over a year of smooth running with no issues. Some may remember the thread about the multi pin connectors on the L28ET fuel spark computers. Many people have posted about problems with misses and running rich and bogging under load...etc. Well I was out for a usual ride in my Z today and it was running great as it has been for over a year. About a year and a half ago after wrestling with the ECU connectors every two weeks I decided to use some dielectric grease on the AFM and ECU plugs. It worked great for all this time until now. All of a sudden, under load, anything past 1/2 throttle either the ignition or fuel was cutting out completely. I thought maybe my fuel pump was gone or maybe I was out of fuel. Luckily I was about 1/4 mile from where my parents live so I diverted towards their house. As I drove, the problem got worse and worse, I had to milk the gas pedal to get the car into their driveway. When I stopped in their driveway, it stalled. I cranked it over and it would NOT fire up at all. I pulled the coil wire and had my brother who happened to show up, hold the wire to a strut bolt while I cranked. No spark at all. I had fuel pressure, I had fuel pump, I had fuel, the relays for all the systems were clicking on and off. I disconnected/reconnected the AFM plug. That made no difference. I pulled the ECU off the kick panel and disconnected/reconnected all the multi-pin plugs. Cranked it over and it fired right up. Problem solved.

     

    I'll say it again. 9 out of 10 problems with running conditions on the L28ET electronics are caused by those D#$& connectors.[/quote']

    Weird!

     

    I bought an LS1 T-56 engine tranny combo out of a 2001 Z28 that was in a front end collision and it had the EXACT same block damage. The A/C compressor mounts there and that's what took the shot in the wreck and broke out the bolt boss. I think if the steering rack gets pushed back in a front end collision' date=' the first thing it would hit on the right side is the A/C compressor.

     

    Did I mention, Weird?

     

    Bottom line, we just tigged it and ran a tap in the threads. End result was great engine, no problems!!

    Yes same exact damage here. I am sure the motor is fine but I want someone from HBZ to have it with a little work. If I was going to do any swap I def would have kept it....maybe for the Maxima!

    We can start a list and have the person and the amount of guest something like:

     

     

    Evilc (1) - Non-Z

    Cygnuxs1 (1) - Z

     

    So name, number of people you are bringing and if you plan on driving your Z.

    After this, next step is to plan on location and set it up for maybe 3 weekends from now? I dunno, you older folks always have something to do :-)

     

    Wait I guess everyone planning on bringing the Z will only have 1 guest! LoL

    Hey I was thinking we all who live in the area within reason should get together on a saturday or sunday for a cruise or day out in a state park. Something like FDR park or Bear Mountain.....something everyone can get to and enjoy. We should all try to get to know eachother even if the Z's are not on the road. I know for myself there are three of us at work including cygnuxs1 who would love the idea. How many of you guys would be interested? I know you Jersey boys would love to take a ride north. :-) Just an idea.....everyone and anyone can chime in here.

    Just over $1400 left and this motor n tranny is all paid for.......Not all from just the Maro because along the way I have been wheelin n dealin. With parts left ova from 2 cars now I will have this gone in a few more weeks.

     

    I am really excited and can not wait to move the car to 1tuffz house so we can finish brakes n fuel so the install can start. I know the car won't be ready until spring but o well half the fun is the build. Just would like to thank HBZ for all the helpn good people on the site. Made a few friends here and that you can not really do on other sites.
