  1. Clive' date='

3 weeks to be exact. But it I think I put in around 60 hours into it. Not including running around getting parts lol. I am waiting for the driveshaft, clutch master cylinder and side pipes to complete this car. It will probably takes another 20 hours to finish up the exhaust system and gauges. Not bad of a swap at all.[/quote']

HA @ not bad.....I have been working on mine for almost 10 months. At the same time I would say it isn't to bad since I am still in school and took the entire car apart. Money is the hold back to any project which I am working on now. April 11th is the target date.....we will see. You have any pics of your friends car?

  2. There is some serious jacking going on in that auction. Two guys' date=' one in denmark and one in kuwait, both with zero feedback and newbies have bid on that car.

The seller is one of those rice boys doing the rice thing![/quote']

I was just looking at the car and was going to say I think the seller may have someone bidding the item up!

  3. Well here we are in the middle of Sept, 6 months after buying the 2002 Camaro with the LS1/T56 combo as a donor for the swap and now I can say the Camaro has PAID FOR ITSELF. This means motor/t56/ecu/fans are now FREE!!!!! Yes I do have some parts left ova and I did some wheelin n dealin through out the past 6 months, so guys it can be done if you have the time.

Back to the Z, after not working on it for 3 months it is time to get back to work. This past weekend I used my mothers Hemi powerd Jeep to tow it to Rochester, NY 1tuffz house so we can get started on putting my car back together. First plan is to buy the JCI kit and the motor and tranny in before the weather turns for the worst here upstate NY. I want to get that part done so I can work around the little things. I still need to run brake lines and fuel lines. After I plan on getting the suspension done with plans of the Wilwood brakes in the rear, some adj front control arms and new poly bushings all around the car. Still have the Q45 swap to finish also and HID retro fit to do with a long list of little things to do. The goal for me is to have the car on the road by my birthday April 11......so I am keeping my fingers crossed. When summer comes I think plan on painting the car.

Thanks to HBZ and 1tuffz so far for keeping me going with the project. Watching so many people finish their LSX swaps in the past few months makes me just want to finish mine even more. Here are some pics..... the pic of the ZX is flames_187 '83 zxt for is turbo swap I towed back to school from 1tuffz's house.

  4. Thanks for all the feedback so far.......makes me think even more. Bartman really hit the nail on the head with the idea of calling companies and really seeing what they want. I really need to sit down and think about where my life is going in the next 5 yrs. Parents may be leaving Ny with the next year or so to head to NC, so money will def come into play if I plan on being here on my own. Anyone here own their own speed shop>>?? I ust want to get an idea of what it takes to get started.....9-5 doesn't seem like it is the thing for me. I think I got this spoiled idea watching my father as I grew up running his own busn and not having anyone to answer to. Everyone here makes great points......and the more I read Wyotech seems like it is not for me at this point in life. I'll keep you guys updated with my thoughts.......

  5. Hey hope are not working to hard on your birthday and have something special planned for lata today! Thanks to HBZ I have made a friendship for life, unless your Z is remains faster than mine! Thanks for all the help n support you have shown me over the course of the past year. So to my "older" friend happy B-day n I wish you many more.... :-)

  6. What are you planning on doing with the car? You want a street or track car? You must have an idea of your budget so you do not take on more than you can handle. A LT/LS series engine is more involved than an older style carb'd motor. I suggest buying the JTR manual and using the search function.....lots of info here on the site.

Welcome and I hope this helps you out.....where are the pics of the car? :-)

  7. This may get lengthy……..

As I come to the end of my 5th year in college, I will be receiving my bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and minor in business. Here at school I have the option of going to Grad school for my MBA because I hope to own my business on day. That said the business I hope to own would be in the automotive industry somehow. Now with that passion of cars and such in me, it drives me to really want to attend a trade school such as Wyotech. I would love to get a job as an engineer on some race team or one of these big car companies out there which I think trade school would bring me closer to. If I was not able to achieve that, at least I would have acquired the skill and training for my own personal benefit and for a business I may end up having someday. Those are the Pros of Tech school but now to get into the Cons……. It will cost me twice as much to go to Wyotech vs staying here in school and getting my MBA. The Masters degree I feel may help me also get to my ultimate goal but I may get side tracked when “life really startsâ€. I mean I am only 22 with no kids and all the real life responsibilities. Besides a few bills, student loans and the Z, I really don’t have much to worry about. So within the next 2 months or so I have to come up with my 2 yr plan and stick with it…..I guess I can always do grad school then tech school after….just don’t want to over educate myself if you know what I mean….any ideas or feedback? Thanks guys…….

  8. Well I guess since a member here asked me how much did I ever get for the motor........well here it is......I sold the motor n tranny for $1650 plus buyer paid shipping cost. This is basically to help any HBZ member in pricin a motor n tranny combo they want to buy or sell. If I didnt't have a motor already, I would have taken the advice of just welding up the block.

  9. Certainly a nice looking Z!!! I was looking at the pics supplied on the Ebay action and noticed the pic of the exhaust. The darn thing looks be be about 1 1/2" off the ground....and I thought mine was low. I think the seller will eventually discover that $32K is more than twice price. Even at $16K I would at least expect to see a better interior job (look at the gauge install). Maybe some nice racing seats and carpet!!? Oh well' date=' I guess it doesn't hurt to ask for too much $$$!

    Tom[/quote']

Very true, might get someone who loves it and willing to pay. $32K is lots n lots of money and if I had it I would build it myself......Nice car though.
