  1. If they actually make money (they're bound to), I'm sure they'll open one up in northern Kali as well. I'm seriously wondering how they will do. Around here there are only two large aftermarket performance stores: Vic Hubbard in Hayward and Tognotti's in Sacramento. I LOVE Tognotti's---I'm like a kid in a candy store there. Lone and I went there over a year ago and they had a car show the day we decided to go--too cool. Davy
  2. I'm not sure the wild interior is for me, but I have to say it sure gets some attention!!! Looking very very good---nice work on the install. I hope you get an award if you make it to the Jubilee Davy
  3. There are some big block ZX's out there, but they are tubbed race cars. This car is for going mostly straight, right? There is no book and I'm not sure of the modifications you would need, especially to possibly cutting & moving the firewall and also possibly doing some extensive frame work up front. You may have to go to a tube frame front end. Basically you have to measure everything on a ZX and find out what works--make a list of modifications and how you will go about doing it. A carbed car will be easier to make (I believe) for a big block car although you might have to think about smog legal/implications if that is prevalent in your neck of the woods. The search function should reveal some threads about doing a BBC swap, but few on the ZXs. Why a BBC anyway? Wouldn't a SBC with forced induction be enough for you? Davy
  4. Ohhh, for a mere $25,000 it's all mine!!!!! Wait, I only have $2500...maybe I can buy his rear tires or something Cool car. Davy
  5. My CCWs should be on the car by the end of the year...I hope ON3GO, they look awesome, man. Davy
  6. Ohhh, I like that. Very nicely done. I like RF amps and such, but I'm unsure about their speakers because I have never heard them in a car before (stereo store is a different animal altogether). Let me know how your system sounds since I'm really curious about the sound. Lookin' good! Davy

    WWJD?

Heh, PHOTOSHOP!!! Yeah, it is pretty cool though Ha! Davy
  8. You have a car to be proud of---excellent work, my friend!! Davy
  9. That's very reasonable---thanks, Eric. If we are unknowingly hosting any of your copyrighted photos, please let us know. Davy
  10. MR2, Acura Integra, CRX, Miata, etc. Look for ones that fit you, are well bolstered, and go from there. Brackets are relatively easy to fabricate and require little welding if any. BTW, some Plymouth Lasers and Dodge Challengers had some cool Mark Cross leather seats that are the bomb. Most are electric and have lumbar adjustments too. Not as simple as the cars above, but for $5 a seat, what do you care? Just some thoughts. Davy
  11. An auto paint supply store probably could; I'd try there. They usually have (at least the one near me does) all kinds of colors for engines, engine components, etc. Also, you could order from Eastwood to get a quality paint that close to OEM. Just some ideas. Davy

    mustache bar

The R180 and R200 bars are different (look similar, but oh so different). They are not interchangeable. Davy
  13. I bought mine slightly used with new tires....for a SONG! This is kinda what they look like. 16"x 8" no rivets though... Davy

    exhaust help

You can keep posting or even amending the same post--don't keep spawning new ones on the same topic! Davy
  15. You deserve it! What I find particularly appealing is the fact that your V8 car is thrust into the faces of many purists. I just love that. Davy
  16. "I love to fart" is cool? You gotta be kidding... Davy
  17. Well, I have thinking about buying a cogged wheel pulley system to replace the stock V-groove belts on my Chevy V8. I have been thinking about the possibility of more friction, but this seems to be false in light of the V-groove design having a certain amount engineered there in the first place. The cogged belt sits on, not in, the pulleys, so it might even help there. I should state that this is mostly for show and not really for 'performance' on this engine. However, the pulleys are much lighter and they won't slip, that's for sure, so maybe there will be some performance benefit after all!! I have been thinking about this and wanted to know what some of your thoughts on the subject are. Any negative things about these systems I should know about or be careful of??? Davy
  18. This from coatesengine.com. The RV heads were discussed in a Car Craft or Hot Rod article from over 5 years ago. I remember it pretty well and it stated that the engines can wind like no tomorrow because the heads are no longer holding them back. Think about it: no more "in & out" action, only spinning--what is the rpm limit?? Here is another picture: Davy
  19. SCORE! Nice job--totally the way to go. As a side note, I thought that my Z had a short in it, but when I took the time to clean up the terminals and add a second and thrid ground strap, I was pleasantly shocked to find that the car started more easily and cured the 'problem.' However, if the issue ever does raise it's ugly head again, the solar charger seems like a good idea. Davy
  20. I have heard (from a past thread no less) that a pillar gauge pod from a Mustang is close enough to modify and work in the Z. The cool, orange Z with the 5 spoke 18" rims has it if I recall. This is all from memory, so take it FWIW. Davy
  21. These kits have been discussed ad infinitum on this site. The search function should yield quite a few very LONG threads. Please try it and see what you find. Then, cut and paste the threads here so others can see them too. Davy

    Burnouts!

LOL! Take 'em to school I love those videos--to some good rock & rool too. Heh, me like Davy
  23. Chris, it can be done---the hole in the floor is already there; you just need some cosmetic pieces really--you could even do away with the console entirely and carpet everything. Davy
  24. My friend Mike D is running a single plane (Weiand Team G) on his 355, but he also has 11:1 compression and some very trick, ported Corvette heads that flow something silly high number. Keep in mind that your heads are the biggest sticking point. Ideally you should have matched components for your engine, but I know what it is like getting 'stuck' with what you have due to budget, etc. That said, yeah, I'd keep the cam to what was suggested to you. I bought a Stealth manifold (dual plane but acts like a single up in the revs) with a camshaft that works for it (good to about 5500-6000 rpm.). I was able to get some aluminum heads for cheap and the compression will go from about 8.5:1 to 10:1---this will only help the horsepower numbers!!! The torque might be a bit much, but I think the engine will rock. Hopefully others will chime in with their combos too. Davy
