  1. Are you POSITIVE that you have the spacers on the correct sides?????? I can almost put money on it that you DO NOT. The motor mounts have little to do with the steering shaft----the set-back plates and spacers DO. Throw up some pics if you can. Davy
  2. You mean those small ones that connect the dash to the unibody? If so, how many do you need? Davy
  3. The lock & latch mechanisms are completely different. For all practical purposes, they will NOT work. Davy
  4. You would probably be better off fabbing a ram-air induction of some sort and running through or near the grill. You won't destroy the hood with a scoop and it will not require body work. Just my $.02. Davy
  5. Saw a gross one today: "It's not how you pick your nose, it's where you put the booger." I am still trying to see the deeper meaning in that. Davy

    PANTERA FANS???

They are one of my all-time favorite cars They are so good looking (Italian lines), have an American V8 for muscle, and handle oh so well, that I would have one now, but I opted for four kids instead If I get into the right position when I move (eventually) to Texas, I may actually buy one. The hard part is finding one that has not been either trashed, wrecked, or is a show car. Still the prices hover at $30K or more. I would LOVE one, or two. *sigh* Davy
  7. You guys still coming to this place? I'll probably drop by for a pearl tea about 8PM or a little after. Hope to see you there Davy
  8. AAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA! Man, those are some real tear-jerkers! Way too funny for one evening. Davy
  9. Burt, there are several threads dealing with this very topic. A search will reveal those Some of the various meathods have been to: wrap tape around the gauge, use velcro, use silicone, use double sticky sided mounting foam (for pictures, etc?), and so on. A little bit of ingenuity and you'll get there Davy
  10. Looks like it's coming along quite well! I was going to ask about the flares, but I reread your post and found out that they are no-name flares! Doh! Anyway, it's looking good and the pics are astonishingly good for being taken with a phone of all things. Davy

    SHARP v8 sound

Jonzer, it has to do with the cams and the exhaust: FLOWMASTER. I am 99% sure that is what you were hearing. Unlike you, I don't care much for the sound (to each his own to be sure--no worries there), but there are hundreds who enjoy it very much I'm not sure if they are the 2 or 3 chamber design, but I am 99% they are Flows. Next time you hear a Mustang with that sound, ask if he or she is running them. Davy
  12. BE SAFE, DOUG! I hope & pray for the best for you and everyone else in that storm's path. Davy

    Funny Auction

Hi Bang! Thanks for the laugh Davy
  14. I just bought a truck too--1995 Chevy Suburban. I found it on Craigslist.com and checked it out; drove home with it that evening after writing a check! I have to remind myself that this is the wife's vehicle, not mine Oh well, at least I have my V8Z project car Congrats on your purchase, Joe! Davy
  15. John, the diff came from an autocross car that was built over 10 years ago by one of two previous owners prior to the guy we bought it from. The car's suspension was wrenched on by Andy Craig who presumably did most of the suspension. Who knows, he may actually remember the brown car? If you want your money back or anything, no biggie to me. I figure I can always sell it on ZCAR.com or locally. Even ebay Shoot me an email if that's what you want. Davy
  16. ...after my V8 install... Davy PS--Mike: heal up quickly! At least you didn't lose a limb or something even more important w/o even knowing... Davy (again)
  17. That's what you and I will be cruising to the next MSA meet in Who is the owner trying to fool? Maybe some shop convinced him to spend another $500 to make it "look unique." I bet it adds 50hp or so virtual horsepower BWAAHAHAAA!! Almost stupid funny that one. Davy
  18. You could pay some kids from a high school auto shop to do it for you. Check out their senior project car and see if it looks halfway decent, then make up a contract... Davy
  19. Call Summit and see if they have a 400 balancer that is over an inch smaller then the one you have now. In fact, get the smallest diameter one you can so the engine will fit with no issues whatsoever. Davy
  20. EXACTLY! It can make all the difference in the world. Davy
  21. Art, I think your idea about keeping the cars as similar as possible in nearly every respect is great. And, as stated previously, the headers are going to be an issue. For the short time that I owned a Scarab 240Z, the headers were full length and the steering rod went right through them--I don't remember the block huggers being able to fit(?!) but that may be just my memory. If this turns out to be true, try to use a "short" header that works for the Scarab set up to keep the power levels about the same for the comparo. I know that goes without saying, but full-length vs shorty isn't exactly equivalent. In my mind, that is the biggest obstacle. Also, you can get a number of people to drive the cars in their respective fields of expertise, and then let them comment on each set up. In other words, get a drag racer to do the drag racing; get an autocrosser to do the autocrossing, etc. The article would be like the king of all articles as far as I'm concerned, especially if you keep it as "scientific" as possible. I rather like the idea of using the SAME car for the test. That way, there is no fudging the numbers. Thanks for taking the time, money, and inspiration to so this. Davy
  22. I know it'll be a first class job when it's done! Looking forward to work in progress pics!!!--got website? Davy
  23. i've seen that link before. do you think you could spray nitrous on a motor with that much compression? if so' date=' how big of a shot can you go? 150 would be plenty, 175 would be good too.[/quote'] Not sure---I've never done spray before, but I venture to say (from what I have read) that it depends more on timing then it does on compression. What I find so intriguing about that article is the amount of compression they can run simply because they have good quench. What I really want to know is this: if you can run that setup on 87 octane, can you also run 12:1 or 13:1 compression using 92 octane?? That would possibly put a few more ponies under the hood. Man, what a sick motor that would be. Understand that I will not put anything less then 91/92 octane into a performance car with a V8. Hmmm. Davy
