  1. Al, I think it is super that your son is going to be ok---thank GOD!!!! Also, I'm very glad to hear that you apparently won't have to sell your Z car. If you can hang on to it, by all means do so. And, last but not least: A bog thank you for keeping up your website with all the valuable tech info---very much appreciated!! Davy
  2. Start making plans and detailing everything--it'll keep you occupied. Keep a notebook book handy. If you have a good color copy machine, download and print out EVERYTHING you can on modifying a Z car. Make a binder with just engine swaps, etc. Davy
  3. No. Anything that makes a car manufacturer money is a successful thing, not stupid. If it is, they will be stupidly laughing all the way to the bank. For example, we used to laugh at the Ford Explorer when I was in the car business until we found out how many Ford had sold--we were the ones who were 'stupid,' not Ford or the happy customers that bought Explorers. I think it would be stupid to buy one and try racing people because I thought the body kit makes it faster---I agree, but it ends there. Davy
  4. I think Mike is asking what the larger runners will do for volume & horsepower... Correct, Mike? Davy
  5. Very very nice looking. I'd love one in my Z Davy
  6. If you are JUST talking about the spacers themselves, it probably won't make that much of a difference if you are off only a hair or so. Just keep the tolerances as close as possible to what they specify. Make sure that the bolt holes are perfect in the set back plates or you'll be hating life trying to get them on the engine block. Davy
  7. Man, you just gotta love a guy who can get things done!!!!!!!!!! You are the man! Super looking car--how long for paint jail? Are you happy with the paint work that was done to it? Looks Awesome from the pics!!!! Davy
  8. Ross C can have some made for you at http://www.modern-motorsports.com . He has adapters too. Davy
  9. That engine stand is made from 2 three legged stands---looks easy enough. I have a 1 three legger I'll give away for FREE if anyone wants it. Local pickup only. Davy
  10. Brett, If you get no 'good' responses, take the car to a race shop that specializes in SCCA racing--a lot of them can do alignments and such. Also, you could try contacting the local SCCA chapter for their input. Just a thought. Davy
  11. Extremely nice work, not to mention functional too By chance, did the door have a slight curve in it to match the quarter panel curve of the Z? Your work looks 'factory' only using custom parts Me like. Davy
  12. Wow--doing things the 'right' way for sure! Nice work, very complete, good color schemes, sweet components--a real "10" in my book. Davy
  13. They come off as being rather 'wicked' looking. I like what is 'different' and that fits the bill---too cool! Davy
  14. My bad. I tried to move the topic to "drivetrain" forum and I left a message by mistake---tried to reverse and ended up deleting it. Sorry! Try posting the same topic in the "drivetrain" forum and You'll get similar results. Davy

    Scary as ****!

A shop vac is nice to get the leaves and crud out when you are cleaning the plastic vents and such. Also, make sure there is no mud/dirt/dust in there either--that crap will blow out once in a while too, and you really don't need it in your eyes... You can always clean everything out with soap and water, etc. Make sure things are dry and clean (clean first and foremost) since dirty & damp = mold & smelly. Ewww. Davy
  16. Good jon on the dyno! Very nice numbers--should be good for some fast times at the strip. I guess you'll be a celebrity when your car tromps the others in Japan Davy
  17. Congrats, Mike! Nothing like being gainfully employed and making money Davy
  18. Contact Ross Corrigan at http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/default.php and he'll set you up. Spacers are made that can work with just about any rims, especially the postive offset ones like you describe. Davy
  19. Yes, there are guys on this forum with serious cash, but some of them are spending the money on other cars, rather then the Datsun Z. Your post did open up some good dialog and some good links Golly thanks! Davy
  20. There was a good article posted on the AFR head site--I think it was a Car Craft article that claimed some very similar numbers to what Kevin posted above. Most interesting though was the quench they were able to achieve and run 11:1 compression on the street using cat pee gasoline. This is a similar article: http://www.airflowresearch.com/articles/article03/A3-P1.htm Davy
  21. We have been noticing that some topics have been deleted and/or are missing. Please let me know if this happened to you and what forum it was in. Davy
  22. Ditto on exactly what Tim said---parts are very scarce and command premium prices. A turbo 4 cyl would be better then an L6. An L6 won't fit well at all. Check ebay once in a while--there are Roadsters occassionally listed with engine swaps (mostly V6's) and an occassional V8. Davy
  23. This is a serious racing products company. If you are looking for show items, contact APC or a similar company that specializes in sport compact "show" products--they'll be cheaper and look the same. In any event, the Z is a niche market car, and the possibility of doing enough product to make manufacture worthwhile is not too good. Davy
