  1. Len, Your I/C sound like a perfect fit for my need. However I have a T4 and an aftermarket exhaust manifold with external wastegate that I will be using in the future. Once I put this combo in I know I will need a bigger I/C. I am still debating whether I should put this T4 into my car now. You know what.. I will put it in tonight ... Either way I think I will still hack about 5 bottom rows off to leave me a 10" to 12"X 20"X 2.5" core. Just curious what do you have in your set up now? Vinh
  2. John, My friend knows the history of these Cobra kit cars. According to him they are pretty rare too . He said there are about 7 or 8 of them around only and the guy who made the kit died awhile back and my friend lost track of who's getting the mold. He said the complete kits could cost up to 6 or 7 grand. I fell in love with this kit the first time I saw it in his garage.. Eric Nyerlin email me a few times before about these kits but I was busy and couldn't get back with him with the info he needs. Maybe this is the place to start finding out the history of these kits since my friend has been too busy with work and family.. Please let me know if you find out any thing .. Thanks Vinh
  3. Is he using the turbo intake manifold? If not that could be the problem. There is a vacuum control valve on the turbo intake manifold you need in order for the car to run right. This is a little valve that screwed into the 4 runner of the intake. I learned it the hard way. In the process of cleaning up the mess on my turbo intake I removed this valve and the car runs so rich. I had to put this valve back into for the car to run properly.. Hope this helps you out Vinh
  4. How big is the small NPR i/c? what size are the inlet and outlet? The one I have is the one on the left in Scottie's picture. Where are you located?
  5. Hi, I just want to add something to this list.. My friends have 3 of these Cobra Daytona kits car complete and 1 not complete which I bought and waiting for me to get started.. I wonder anyone else has these kits.. Here is the address tripod won't let me do a link http://vvu.tripod.com/cobraz/cobra1.jpg Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  6. Are you talking about the speedometer? If so then I will try to answer your question. The speedometer does hook up to the back of the meter just like the regular analog gauge. When the cable turns it will turn a small wheel. This wheel has spacings on it (I don't know how many ) and this wheel has a photoelectric eye on it. There is an onboard chips inside the meter that will convert this signal and display as numbers on the meter.., Hope that answer your question. VinhZXT http://vvu.tripod.com
  7. Hi all, The house is done and time for me to continue where I left off with my 79 ZXT spyder. I have the NPR I/C and it is definitely too big for my application and I am about to cut the bottom 10 rows. This will leave me 13 rows on the top and that's still 8" X 20" X 2.5" core. My car is still using the stock computer and I plan to run 12PSI and I think this size I/C will be enough. After reading the below post about NPR I/C I wonder anyone of you want to work out a deal with me before I hack this thing up. Any inputs? Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  8. Cody, If it's convinience please make 3.. hehehe.. I am looking for one for my 280ZXT also.. I've been missing out. I didn't know ScottieGNZ made the downpipes for the ZX. I could have gotten one from him .. Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  9. Scottiemiz, "engine rebuild kit with head work done was 200" .. What kind of works you have done here? My engine rebuilt kits (parts alone) costs over 200 alone. The head's 3 angles valve jobs was over $500.
  10. Good idea.. I will go home and find out which wire will send the signal back to the ECU. Instead of connecting the potentiometer I will connect a switch to completely disconnect that wire. This should be good under boost.. ..
  11. I have a stock 280ZXT with stock drive train and had the same problem. It turned out that a ujoint in the driveshaft get stuck sometimes.
  12. Hi all, This is an add I just found.. Please email me your recommendation on it.. Thanks.. "1995 LT1 350 F.I., COMPLETE OUT OF IMPALA SS. 17,000 MILES, PAINLESS WIRING HARNESS, BRAND NEW FACTORY COMPUTER, BOXES OF EXTRA STUFF, AIR FOIL, VETTE FUEL RAIL COVERS, ETC. 1500 OBO. " My email is anh3pa@hotmail.com Thanks Vinh
  13. RatedZ, Hey I have another turbo combination gauge that I prepared for the aftermarket gauges to mount in there.. Are you interested in it? I did it for my car and here is a pix. http://vvu.tripod.com/zxspyder/gauge3.jpg http://vvu.tripod.com/zxspyder/gauge1.jpg Email me Vinh
  14. Check out JC WHitney.. they have the same type of gas cap as the Mitsu one and it costs around 90 I think Vinh
  15. Thanks Tim.. you didn't say how much did it cost you to O-ring the block.. Vinh
  16. Tim, Can you explain the O-ring process ? I 've read about that somewhere before but forgot all about it. Anyway this shop is charging me too much for the their work.. so I don't think I want to bring it back any more. The head rebuilt from the same place cost me 520. Got the block hot tanked, rehoned, installed new crank bearings and connecting rod bearings and reinstall the pistons and rings (I paid for the rings separately) and the total came close to 600.. How much to o-ring the block?
  17. Hi all, Just got my turbo motor back from the machine shop... I still need to put all the miscellenuous stuffs back on after painted the block but I don't know whether I should get the metal head gasket for this motor or not. I planned to use the stock EFI system with the T3/T4 hybrid turbo and will be running about 14lbs of boost with 93 or 94 octane gas, intercooler obcourse. Occasionally I would like to go to the track and run a bit higher boost with 105 octane.. The block was redone and so is the head. What type of head gasket should I use? One other thing what is the ideal I/C tubing size should I use for this application? I have an Npr I/C which I will get the shop to make it a little small and while at it I will ask them to weld on the smaller size for the Inlet and outlet. Note I will be using the big throat TB and the N47 intake. Thanks for any input. Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  18. The stock compression for the turbo motors are 143PSI max. FYI.. Scotty, Check your compression carefully on all cylinders. I was like you having too much fun with my beat up 280zxt at the track and blew HEAD gasket on 1 cylinder. I thought it was the exhaust gasket. I replaced the exhaust gasket and then realized it was the head gasket so all that work was for nothing... Good luck Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  19. David, I have a 4:11 R200 and I don't think I will find use for it. I did open the cover up and it's has a 37:9 stamped in the ring gear. This R200 fits the 280Z R200 half shafts fine but it will not fit the 280ZXT half shafts. I had a discussion with Jeromio about this awhile back. I am in Philly Pa. Let me know.. Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  20. Stony, You are right on.. I did removed that piece. The 280Z half shaft now slide all the way in but not the CV from the 280zXT. The longer one still stick out 1/4". The shaft needs to be machined down for it to slide all the way in. BTW the LSD without the "spacer" fits the CVs nicely without a problem and I have that LSD also.
  21. Jeromio, Please check the messages posted by JohnInSalem. He got the same LSD that I got. Oh and I have 2 3.7 LSDs and one of them fit the 280ZXT CVs fine but the other is not. Maybe I am just unlucky to have bought this unit. But looks like this LSD and the 4.11 used the same type of half shafts. This is just information that I gathered about all these rear ends. I think I know what I have to do to put these thing to good use. Cheer Vinh
  22. jeromio, Hmm maybe there is a difference between the 85 and 86 200SXT R200 but I dont' see why Nissan would put in different rear end for both years. I will have to do more studying about these rears and half shafts because I have 4 or 5 R200 in my garage. I have 2 3.7 LSDs and they don't have the same input shafts config either.. Will post more pix and info about the LSDs problem. I believe there is another person with a couple post down that has the same LSD and has the same problem with the half shaft as me. 23. Hi all, Here's an update to the 4:11 R200 problem with half shafts. I put the longer CV shaft on the passenger side and the shorter shaft on the driver side. 2 problems, the shorter one won't snap into the circlip and the longer shaft sticks out 1/4". Go to here to look at the pictures since tripod wont' let other web site link to there data base. http://vvu.tripod.com/zxspyder/ So here is my opinion if you want to put in a 4.11 R200. Get the 280Z R200 half shafts and unbolt 4 bolts on each end of the input shafts and swap just the input shaft and everything will fit and snap in there the way it should be. If you want to use the CVs then I would use 2 short half shafts since you will be using either the longer stub flange or the adapter piece, this will make up the length for the pass. side shaft. Feel free to get me know what your thoughts. Jeromio, I think you should double check your 4.11 swap again after you look at those pictures. Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com
  24. John, Me and you are in the same boat. I have the same LSD as the one you have. Apparently this LSD was suppose to have the longer shaft on the driver side and the shorter one on the pass side. So when you put the longer one on the pass. side the it won't go all the way in. To make it fit you need to machine the stopper part (middle part of the input shaft) by 1/4 " and it will slide all the way in. Don't bother to hammer or gring nothing. I've been doing some studying with this LSD and growing gray hair with it too. So I am not the only one experiencing this odd ball LSD then.. hehe... One question though which car did you get this LSD out of? I got mine from the internet and the guy said it came out of a 300ZXT. I got another 3.7 LSD which I don't have this problem. Vinh http://vvu.tripod.com [ September 19, 2001: Message edited by: VinhZXT ]
  25. Jeromio, Yes I got the 4:11 out of the 86 200SX turbo. The reason I paid close attention to which half shafts goes where when I removed the Rear out of the 200SX was because I had that odd ball 3.7 LSD and I couldn't figure out which car it could have came out of. Apparently the 4:11 and this odd ball LSD has the same half shafts configuration. ie longer shaft on the driver side and shorter shaft on the passenger side. For the LSD, when swap the shafts the shorter one slide in and locked Ok but the longer one need to be machined off on the back part of the input shaft about 1/4" for it to slide all the way in. I didn't have a chance to swap the shafts for the 4:11 yet. I still have everything outside in my garage. Vinh
