  1. Nice system...I run a NAD wth Paradym speakers. Most people opt for super high watts and all sorts of receiver bells and whistles but does not always result in the best sound. Speakers are of course of ultimate importance but without a good clean source the best speaker will sound like crap.

My sub is behind the couch as well....I love it when the foam vibrates!

  2. John is being kind with his estimate.....press time...set up and spotting will easily double his estimate.

.....then figure the market for 2+2 skins is 20% or less of the 2 door. Now we get into ROI for that 100 part run and inventory costs.

All due rerspect.........Just because you go to school full time and are low on funds doesnt mean the aftermarket owes you low priced items. You made these choices...they are making thiers.

  3. A 71 Cutlass Supreme Convertible. Red, white top and white interior with a 350/350.. Bought it for $1200. Drove it one summer until I spoted a black 71 240Z sitting on a used car lot. Drove the cutlass to the fellow I bought it from (a buddy), sold it back for $1400 (new Carb) and picked up the 240Z that afternoon.

Should have kept the Cutlass. The 240Z was a bag of S_rust_t! But I loved it!

I was 17.....Even then I worked my ass off to afford my toys!

  4. If its fun factor you seek then go suspension. If you replace the exhaust with a perfermance system the car will still sage at all corners and handle like crap.

Gaskets are cheap and Im sure you can patch up the rust spots. My first exhaust system was somebodies throw away! Unless you have completed a motor build there's no point to an expensive exhaust?

Clearance will be more than fine.

  5. Ive been following this thread for some time and need to speak up......I cant help thinking that this is penny wise pound foolish. An old hard to get rad of suspect condition that will probably need to get recored.......

I purchased a new ebay cross flow unit for under $300....shipped from Wisconsin Width was perfect, depth was 1" too much so its hanging under the front cross rail....no problem. THe car has never for an instant come close to over heating....even on the hotest day in the worst traffic.

I look at it this way...why spend $3000 or more on a RB install and then cut corners on the cooling system.

If you want the OEM look then paint the puppy black.

  6. Hmmmm. Lets try to put things into perspective...

small compressor turbine ...highly engineered .....spinning up to 140000rpm or a small electric motor / fan spinning at 3000rpm

I dont know about you guys but I have no idea where to find an electric motor built into a compact enough package to place under the hood of a car capable of that type of air delivery and not requiring a bank of batteries or a very long 600V extension cord.

    Hello Mcfly.....

  7. 1st step... buy a shop manual. Learn about your car. Start small. Fix simple things, lights, plugs, oil changes, then move on to larger work.

You cant lose if you follow the above advice. That way you will learn all the little details about the ZX ncessary for bigger projects. Your wish list is long and involved. If you try to do too much too soon you will become discouraged ...and broke! And you wont enjoy the car nearly enough.

This will also give you time to decide exactly what you want to do with the car.

Its the exact path I took 30 years ago with my first car.

    Drive it and have fun!

  8. Tony...the Upper Michigan can get cold....I understand. ''

YOU WIN AT 55C as well Holy Fluckein Chripz.

You are right ............I have snow boarded the Swiss Alps at -35C and walked around in humid 42C. I will take the boarding temp any day! At least I can move without sweating my sack off!

    Cheers

  10. Did your dad slap you upside the head and tell you the truth! LOL

#1 Gas in Eyes,Mouth and Ear all at the same time. The Ear hurt the worst for some reason.

#2 Tried to change my clutch with the trans setting on my chest (Dad said "thats how we used to do it"), after an hr I couldn't move and started calling for help.......... 3hrs later someone came buy and pulled me out...

My chest was bruised black and I couldn't breath right for awhile.

  11. :lmao:I know a fair number of people from the south...and I would say your right. You go out and buy candles water and granola bars if you hear of a pending cold front. My family goes out for dinner during a snow storm and 6" of fresh powder. Its a beautiful time to be out!

I think if it ever got below 10 deg F, everyone in Texas would die. Seriously. We don't even have a fireplace, so if the power gos out , its freeze and die time.

Hey I once hot melted a block of wood to my finger tips...........:puke:!

I bolted my finger between a lawnmower blade and the adapter with an impact. Which I dropped and then had to pick up again to unbolt my hand.

I can't count how many times i've gotten carb cleaner in my eyes. I wonder...
