  1. Thanks! Always been a Datsun/Nissan affidacios. My Armada has 230k miles on it and is a work horse. I've towed more than 100k miles with it. The normal wear and tear is starting to show, especially the roof paint.
  2. I don't remember my original screen name, I'm sure I had a little more than Junior- maybe not. I hope so too. The red flared Z was even before that. I was going to turn it into a full race car, but pretty much lost track of it and now it's in pieces. For a little while, I kept up with James Thagard but what else have all of you been up to? Please post pics. of your cars etc......I need to get my brain juices back into Z mode!!!!!!
  3. Yes, believe it or not, that business is still around. I also have my own full race car shop- fabrication, dyno, engine machine shop etc..... for maybe 15 years or so... This is my latest project- I designed it on paper, full tube frame chassis and should have it on the race track in 3 months.....
  4. and moments after off the trailer....the drum brakes lock- as expected.....
  5. engines out of storage.... well, looks like I can't find my Electramotive Tech3R......shoot! here goes another 2k I didn't expect. The orange car is a 3.2 ltr. , twm, electramotive, zx 5 spd., 4.11 ls in the works......
  6. Hi Folks, Most of you don't know me. I've been a member of the datsun forums for many years and as we all know, life happens. Anyways, I'm Hoover, and been involved with cars for many years and a pro-builder today. Since Mr. K's passing, it got me to thinking about my Z cars and how guilty I feel for letting them sit for so long. The other day, I made a move to resuce them out of my storeage building and place a huge order with Motorsport Auto to repair them etc......it's far more work than one order can handle, but it's a start. Here's my Orange Z car. Owned it for 16 years, maybe more. I brought it back to my shop to begin work. New wheels purchased today and lots of broken parts ordered for restoration the other day. It's been stored quite some time- My other Z is wide and turbocharged, but in pieces......this one scares me and is going to take more than a parts order to assemble. I'm going to remove the flares and gnose and build a ZG style body out of it. Here's a build for one of my customers. near ground up restoration. Parts should start arriving as early as Monday. I'll post my progress here. Feels great to work on my own cars again. I can't wait to drive it on an early weekend morning.
  7. stripping out interior.
  8. Hi Folks, I'm building a car for a customer. We spent a few weeks taking everything apart. Here's where we are as of this afternoon.
  9. I'm going to order new rims, probably from the group buy. i already have original ZG flares from Japan. If I find that the wheels stick out too much, I'll order the set. Hmmm...any 17x10's out there?
  10. ok, rota is 30 minutes from me. ill send an email. hope there's something in stock.
  11. Thanks Bob. I have an rb25 trans. already. Just have to get the motor.

  14. I recently saw a Z with wider carbon fiber ZG flares. anyone know where I can buy a set?
  15. Hey James, You keep'in busy???? Good talking to you back a few months ago. I'm building another Z car. Why? I have no idea!!!! I found a buyer for my 3.3 ltr. L6 turbo engine. They bought ecu, trans, manifold, exhaust and all. I've still got all your parts and plan to use them. If you've got anything, let me know. BTW, I have some business in Charlotte this year. I rented a windtunnel to do some testing on a race car. Send me your number. Hoover
  16. the last time I dyno'd my turbo Z was more than 10 years ago. I made 404whp at 15psi. Custom headers, custom intake etc.... with all the new turbos nowadays, I think I can make 460whp on pump fuel (91 octane).
  17. I have a Thagard pan from 5 years ago. I've been doing a ton of oil pan work and will probably re-baffle it before install.
  18. I think there are a few companies that make plug & play ecus: hydra, aem and???? any recommendations?
  19. perfect. i'll order from them. hopefully, they can accomodate the trans. combo I need for the Z.
  20. Fellas, I've decided to go with an RB swap and single turbo. what place does everyone recommend for rb26dett long block, sensors, manifold and "complete" harness? Thanks Hooove
