  1. Here's my take- I road race in GT-1 with a v6 turbo car and my team holds a podium title in the 2014 SCCA National Runoffs. I know little to nothing about drag racing, nor do I care about peak HP numbers vs usable for road racing. I know in drag racing, peak numbers may be more important. So it depends your application. I've used a GT35 with every a/r and now run a gtx30 .63 t3 flange. The spool is about 800rpm earlier than the gtx35 and much more usable powerband for my application. Peak HP is still the same with the smaller frame. Garrett under estimates their range of efficiency for obvious reasons, but I've yet to blow a turbo in years with the type of use it is subjected to (40 minutes @ 25psi. on 100dg.f day). I generally don't like lag. Moving foward, I may even use the gt29x and hope the power band start at 2800 or less.....wishful thinking.
  2. HEY JAMES!!!!! How are you!!!!??? I'm putting one of my Z's back together and getting ready for another HUGE project for the balance of the year.
  3. i've made headers before. Did this one 20+ years ago. this pic. is UGLY, I know. I took this in my warehouse today when I was shifting cars around. You can see the turbo manifold. Let us know how your search goes.....
  4. the driver side is missing the seat belt. I think it's in a box with the other Z car, but it's the original belts. Maybe I should upgrade to the new belts motorsport sells that retract. I don't plan on tracking this car, so a harness would be overkill and uncomfortable for a weekend morning cruiser.
  5. this radiator probably works, but it's had better days. I have a new radiator that's polished, but that's a bit bling bling for this car and may make everything else look even worse!!!! I would much rather prefer normal aluminum or a black radiator....
  6. i recall the exhaust i have is a mandrel bent 3" stainless. I'm considering just making a 2 1/2" exhaust and magnaflow resonator in the middle- 20"L. I ordered the resonator today, but to keep work down to a minimum, I'll just install the 2 1/2" resonator in the center and maybe do the rest at a later time. I don't want to get too deep into this......already didn't get a paycheck today..........
  7. this one scares me. it's so much work and I'm not sure I could see the light at the end of the tunnel..... I've contact a few autobody and paint shops to do the work after I do the body work.....but.....time isn't on my side and already spent a mint in a week on parts..... I honestly feel that this Z wanted to go back together today. Nothing was difficult at all; kinda like a puzzle that just clicked together once all the pieces were in place. Really made it fun!
  8. alternator harness had old broken ends....... rebuilt the harness with new terminals this afternoon.....
  9. also found this in the hatch.......good for reference even though I'm a bit past that point......
  10. replaced all freeze plugs with brass..... engine went in like butter..... I know the transmission will come out again to be rebuilt and also swap out the diff. for a 4.11 ls......the gearing with a ZX 5 spd. and 3:54 diff. is a slug and true freeway cruiser......
  11. had to make spacers to fit bumper better. the center section barely touched the body.
  12. Found Electramotive. Lost nissan comp. header and y-pipe!!! How could I lose something that large!!!????
  13. yes.... i know exactly where this goes!!! missing the clip in back that holds it in place....
  14. found a plastic ball......not sure where it came from, but I found it....
  15. a box off crap in the back hatch.... this is cool, even though I don't need it....
  16. well...... uuuhhhhh........ hmmmmm......... uhhhhh........ obviously been sitting in a time capsule of dust, dirt and dirt........ what a shame.....my other z engine!!!!!
  17. I found my old bumper today, but ordered a new bumper which will be installed by this morning. The new hardware is kinda cheap, so i'll use stainless washers instead.
  18. pulled this out of storage this morning. I'm frustrated due to losing so many expensive parts, however. I can not find my nissan comp. exaust header.... will just have to make due.
  19. i think i bought a set from you a really long time ago. i lost them during a move. where do your mounts land the motor?
  20. well......the flywheel and clutch is on..... that's progress....right? and, found my other centerforce clutch in a box that we couldn't find a week ago. I told one of the guys that the box with orange cover clutch cover is the clutch we were supposed to use................the answer I got, "you mean the one that says centerforce thatI was looking at last week?" UHHHHHHGGGGGG!!!!!! Back in the day, I would have had it running already!!!!
  21. opening up boxes this morning. flywheel, clutch (that I lost) arrived, new turn signal lense, box of new bolts and the 3250cc L6. I've got to get back to work and pay for these things now.......
  22. Thanks, Swami. I remember over 25+ years ago when I would wait for AutoTrader to come out so I could look at what's for sale. I didn't have much money or any at all, but I can even remember some of the ads for widebody Z's that weren't finished. I even found a pic. of me pulling out an engine in my dad's driveway when I was 18. Time goes by and I still talk to the guy that I bought the Z from. He told me that his wife is wearing the Z on her ring finger, so that makes me feel good. I think I have enough left in me to get this Z running and hopefully I can pass it to my kids when the time comes........I just have to be prudent this time around and have fun in my third Z life.........
