Also, the engine is stock other than the MSA 3-2-1 headers.

The car that it was in sat for a few years but was started and drove around a few times a year. About 3 months ago I had it cranking but would not start because of my fuel pump was not working. I just pulled it out around that time to do a V8 swap. When I drove it it ran great. I have some pics I will post on a bit. It still has the transmission attached to it. Not sure if you want it or not but I would rather sell them together. I have a for sale ad posted on the forum. I think the price is more than reasonable for both. $250

Right now I really could use some help with wiring. I am interested in the lights you have Loy, I have been checking them out but would like to see them in person sometime. -
I may have one soon too. I am considering switching to fuel cell.

Considering A 240Z With 614HP Dart Block 406 V8
_Donovan_ replied to Boat's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I would probably see how much you could sell the Mustang for and how much he would take for the Z or what else is out there. -

If you still want to do this sometime, I have a '76 L28 for sale you can use to build. -

I really could use another set of hands and some motivation. I still need to wire up the Z to the engine. Also I need to remove the fuel tank and cut out the tire well to install the fuel cell and fuel pump. Mainly though I would really like someone to look over my work so far to see how I have done and if sort of tell me what I may have missed. -

OK, sorry about that. I guess I am used to my 350z . com and all the BS that goes on there and I get touchy. -

What do you mean by this. Honestly, I really could use some help and if anyone is interested they can make some cash. I am sorry I am not the know it all kind of people here that can handle any situation or problem on a Z. Whatever, if it is SPAM then a MOD can just remove it. Sorry and I will stop asking for help since not many if anyone wants to help others. I know where I am from people will help others for the fun of it and a case of beer usually. -
I am located in Aberdeen MD, near Baltimore. I have been working on my project although very slowly for a while now. I am always get sent away on mission or training and do not get much time to work this. Next week I have taken some time off specifically to work on my project. I am hoping someone would be willing to spend some time with me helping out. Please let me know if you are interested in stopping by for the day or a few hours to give me some hints and help with little things. I can pay for gas and food and maybe some extra. Thanks a lot in advance. By the way it is a 76 with a 94 LT1 and 4L60E.

I can say I do not know too much about it but I do have a friend that has done a RB25 and a LT1 swap. He has told me that he prefers the chevy engine due to reliability and price. I am not sure if that was just his experience or if others think the same. And why I even mention the LT1 over turboing the L28 is from what I have seen it is cheaper to get good hp out of the chevy than the L28 and still trust it to drive all the time. Again, this is just what I have seen and it may be skewed. Good luck though.

'76 280Z w/ 94 Roadmaster LT-1
_Donovan_ replied to _Donovan_'s topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
I will be. I am still searching for everything that I should be doing or want to be doing. This is a very rough rough sort of gather of thoughts and way of tracking my progress for myself. If you or anyone my have some suggestions or tips, please feel free to let me know. -
OK, My name is Donovan. I am in the Army and trying to finish up this project. Thanks to the shop that I am using only being open four days a week and me being sent away all the time, this is coming along slowly. Also, I am learning at this whole mechanic thing. I am far from a mechanic in the Army but I am enjoying what I am doing so far. I knew this would take a lot of money and although I am trying to keep costs down, i am not avoiding quality or things I need to do. The funny thing is I thought I would just install this drivetrain and be done, but as things come out or I see things that can be changed my list of things to buy grows. Anyone thinking of doing this and asking about cost, then I would suggest not to do it because it costs too much for you. The basics; it is a '76 280Z that touched a guardrail when loaned to a friend. I got a LT-1 and 4L60E from a '94 Buick Roadmaster. So far I have the engine and engine bay mostly prepped per JTR manual and installed into the engine bay. I did not get to cut the wholes for the transmission mount yet but probably this weekend. The car was undercoated apparently from the factory or close to it and has no rust underneath that I can find. I do have some in some areas of the body that I am working on, and the spots that were damaged from the collision. I have the dash and interior out as well. The heater doesn't work so I need to fix that and I am looking to replace the carpet as well. From viewing others rides I believe I will go the route of cutting out the spare tire well and install a few cell there. I am looking to do some sort of nice dual exhaust out the middle or each side on the back. Side pipes is still somewhat in my mind but until I research it a little more it is very unlikely. Since the dash is out now I would like to redo the gage faces or at the minimal change to LED's. The headlights I definitely want upgraded but I am struggling to find something that performs well and still look somewhat stock yet a little mean. I originally had the headlight covers and planned to go with them again but as of now I am on the fence. I really have so many things i want or need to do that I can't explain right now, but I will. I hope this isn't against the rules but I will use this to keep track of my progress and keep organized what I still have to do. Also I will use this to keep track what I need to still research and figure out. When I can get some photos together I will be posting some things I don't need anymore for sale in the classified sections as well. From here below I will use to somewhat organize my thoughts and track progress, Thank you. Body MSA type 3 or JDM Flares headlight covers? upgraded headlights front bar? weld sides flatten rear mirrors Interior Carpet LED lights in dash gage faces? heater core audio? probably none NEED shifter assembly Drivetrain driveshaft temp sending sensor? wtf fuel cutoff switch fuel lines fuel cell fuel pump auto shifter assembly linkage rod other weird things alternator brackets, how do I even do that wiring Suspension brakes brake upgrade Wheels tires tire sizes > tach drive gear wheels

How much did everyone spend on their V8 Conversion?
_Donovan_ replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
I already owned the car, '76 280Z, and found a LT-1/4L60-E from a '94 Roadmaster for $850. Decided to go for it. Ebayed a JTR kit and book for $100 minus speedo cable and flange. At this point it all seemed easy and cheap. I was wrong, well it wasn't a hard install so far but is expensive. Right now I have the engine in and mounted, most of the wiring together, radiator, and headers and I see I am still about $3.5k away from getting this thing together. As far as just getting it running probably $1k and so far spent about $2k. Not complaining, I like this and I will be happy when done. -
+100000 For some reason I have grown to hate that guy.
-
Someone on the my350z forum makes those.
-
If it was something that you remove for the V8 swap, then I have one.
-
I have a L28 from a '76 with MSA headers and a 4 speed tranny, but I live in MD. Make an offer if you are interested.

76 280Z Tranny Tunnel, JTR Unclear
_Donovan_ replied to _Donovan_'s topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
WOW, deja, you are a lifesaver. You answered my question exactly. Thank you so much. Friday I will be doing this. Glad to know what I need to do. -
I have a 1976 280Z. I am installing a LT1 with the 4L60E transmission. The JTR manual shows a pic of the transmission tunnel and the bracket that needs cut out, then states that later models are different. Well, mine is different. What I am asking is for anyone that has a 1976 or one that is similar, how much do I need to cut out. Sorry I do not have a picture right now to show what I mean, I will try to get one later tomorrow. But a quick description will hopefully work. In the book it shows the brackets on the Z more or less look like triangles on each side. Seems pretty clear what to cut out, all of that. On mine, the bracket has a piece that comes across and also a sort of bracket I believe that goes all away up and around the tunnel. Hopefully someone knows what I mean here. I believe I need to cut it all out but I would like some confirmation first. Thank you in advance for any help. -Donovan
