  1. Trying to squeeze out a few more miles per gallon. Plus, I love engine breaking, so I bet it will see this quite a bit. Now to get rid of that stumble... Thanks, Mario
  2. Thanks for the suggestions Tony. Now to find a 87 300zxt coil.... Mario
  3. Who cares, its a paddle shifting 7 speed. An actual shifter is so much better IMHO. (Or should I say funner?) Mario
  4. I'm using the 240sx tps. I posted about this accel mistriggering on msefi.com. They suggested I clean it, but that didn't help. I'll find the thread (which contains my settings) and post it here. Thanks for the replies, Mario
  5. What are your settings for this? Mine are set at this: RPMs higher then: 1900 KPa lower then: 25 TPS lower then: 42 Seconds: 1 I ask because the factory ECU has a more complicated fuel cut off system: Thanks, Mario
  6. Yes I heard that the oem replacement HEI modules are only good for ~4500 rpms. The car will rev fine to 5k in 1st and 2nd (3 speed auto), but if I rev it higher then 4.5k in 2nd, let go of the accelerator, then push it again ~4.25k rpms, it will stumble slightly. Could it be my HEI, or the accel bins? My TPSdot is also set at 1.3, could it not be reacting fast enough? (I get false accel triggering on idle if I put it any lower) Now for a performance HEI module, I cannot get any in town (no performance shops whatsoever), which one do you reccommend, and where is the best place to get them? Thanks, Mario
  7. You do not need MSnS, you can actually let the ignition side be taken care of by an MSD box that provides timing retard with boost. I think this is how they did it before spark control. If you just run MS by itself with no spark control, it would be using the mechanical and vacuum advance of the distributor. Problem is I don't think the turbo distributor really has much advance, or any. Mario
  8. Spill the beans already! What year make and model for the valve and what are your settings at. Does it spike? How stable and responsive is the boost? Congrats on the times, now go beat those 350z's and new mustangs Mario
  9. Someone here was thinking of producing a kit. I think it is somewhere in the neighborhood of $2500 IIRC. It includes everything on the mechanical side, i think it just needs injectors and fuel management. Mario
  10. What over boost protection are you running? I think they decided dropping spark is the nicest on the driveline IIRC, but it can cause a giant backfire causing your exhaust to explode. Do you have a pop-off valve? Maybe you can use that as overboost protection without turning on the MS one just for tuning. My $0.02, Mario
  11. I'd just like to say good luck! I made it through 11 pages at school before the internet went out and it looks like it is very hard to get nice responsive stable boost. I think the SAAB valve they were talking about was less Hz then that, IIRC. Maybe see if they have an FSM online for a model that has it, as it might be stated there. Mario
  12. If there is a rolling one with low rust and I can get it cheaper then doing a tranny swap, I might convince my dad to let me do an engine swap this summer instead Please report back asap, Mario
  13. Could you explain the GM boost valve? Are you gonna control it with MSnS-E? EDIT: So you are gonna use MSnS-E to control (title just maked sense) If it works good could you post more information? Thanks, Mario
  14. You can also use the stock one, I forgot to tell you, but it takes longer to heat up and can't really be too good for tuning idle. (Thats why the new ones are heated) Mario
  15. That is not an oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor will be located in the exhaust system. Some cars have one before and after the catalystic converter. Check megasquirt.info and in the MegaManual they have different pics of GM style fidle devices. The only things that pertain to MS on the intake side is the air temp sensor and a vacuum line for the map. Mario
  16. Nice to hear! Of course now that your's is running again, mine starts running like crap... Mario
  17. Don't yell at me for my stupid suggestions, after all you were the one who helped me get mine running Maybe try loading older code on it. Or maybe do the opposite, run MSnS-E. Did you build the units yourself? I know the MegaManual talks about boards randomly failing, one cause being the soldering flux that isn't washed off after the board is assembled. You said you have an unmolested one on the shelf, maybe try using that one. Also, MegaTune has given me problems with corrupting my configs, I don't know if your running MSnS or the Extra code, but the newer MT is supposed to be able to control the spark side of MSnS without using the other software. It didn't work for me, but maybe it will for you. Don't give up yet, you and Moby are the most helpful and experimental MegaSquirters for us Z guys, Mario
  18. First, Congrats. You should have a trigger point almost anywhere you put it,since it fires realitively frequently. also, I found it best to set the timing using the fixed angle at about 10 BTDC (easiest to see) and matching it up by moving the distributor. Maybe I'm not answering your question cuz I don't really get it, Mario
  19. WoW.... I think it has one of those ebay front mount fake intercoolers. Mario
  20. What is your WOT settings? Mine is somewhere in the mid 200s. It might be that it is hooked up backwards. Do you have a pic of how you ran the TB coolant passages? Thanks, Mario
  21. Do you have pics? The ones in the post above aren't showing up. Thanks, Mario
  22. If you scan it, mess with the contrast and brightness and you should be able to make it legible. I think SuperDan made it so we had to upload the timeslip if it was faster then 10.999 seconds. Or was it 11.999? Mario
  23. Tony D says that the flat top SU's are a b**** to tune but they do not rob power if you get them tuned right. I have only heard of one person who is gonna try to turbo SUs, and that is 1 Fast Z. (I haven't searched though) I would change it to EFI and probably use MegaSquirt (I'm a little biased ). As for the head not having the injector notches, I would spend my money on a custom EFI intake or a blow through four barrel carb setup. This is just my $0.02 Mario
  24. Doesn't the 260 have low compression making it relatively easy to turbo? I'm gonna keep mine all Nissan, but this is the site if your gonna swap in a 350. Mario
  25. I am pretty sure they are the same tranny. My FSM lists only one Auto tranny for 82, if my memory serves me correctly, the 83 had an updated version of the same tranny, but it was the same on both the Turbo and NA cars. Mario
