I recently pulled a r200 diff. from an 81' 280zx 2+2 to swap into my s30. i was told that that diff has the 3.90 gears. can anyone confirm this? i also pulled the 5 speed trans. any idea on the gearing for that as well? i did a pretty thorough search on the forums but no findings on the gearing of the diff. of a s130 2+2.

any help is appriciated! :D

Hayes says it's probably a R200 3.9 and a lot of them were but the real world doesn't always match with what gets put into the cars in reality. I think the turbo with the T5 is always matched up with a 3.545 that I've ever seen or heard of. The rest is fair game :)

Sounds like you have it out of the car already when you pulled the trans? Easy enough to figure out if that's the case.....

The FSM will tell you what the stock setup was. In the PD section.

If the differential is out you can turn the input shaft until the two drive axles make one revolution. Mark all three with white out or similar. As long as both outputs turn at the same rate, it's pretty accurate. The input shaft will either end up at 1/2, 3/4, or almost one full turn from where it started after one full turn of the drive axles, and 3 plus turns of the driveshaft.
