BluDestiny
I think what he is asking isn't about what the grind difference or power difference will be, but if he can swap the p79 cam which is internally oiled into the N42 head, which IIRC is NOT using an internally oiled cam If it is then you're good to go if, if not I believe you can run it with the oil spray bar and be safe. Someone with better data please chime in. Or fransico you can search. edit: found it. It is NOT internally oiled which means you need to run the spray bar Edited April 20, 2012 by BluDestiny
ttodhunter
I'm no expert on cams by far. I just see that on the chart, all cams before 8/81 have the same part number. So I guess check to see if it's an "A" stamp or a "F"... I could be mistaken, but my $.02... Edited April 21, 2012 by ttodhunter
S30Turbo
It's an "F" stamp I just wanted to know if it's a direct swap n run cause its my Daily driver
NewZed
The N42 has a spray bar. They went to internally oiled with the N47. The P79 is internally oiled. If you block the spray bar holes on the cam towers all of the oil will flow through the P79 cam. So it's not a direct swap but it's not impossible. Of course, as described in other threads, you'll need the rocker arms to go with the cam, matched to the lobes they were riding on. You'll need to send your rockers with the cam, also marked for lobe usage, so the the other side of the trade can make the MSA cam work. This is as I understand things (recently enlightened), to get the best odds of a successful cam swap. You may even need to have the rocker arms reground, to be safe. #20 here has the basic summary - http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/105756-camshaft-question/

steve260z
You'll need resurface the rockers to be totally safe. Since the rockers and Cam are going on a different head the wipe pattern will be different and the lobes will not pass over the rockers in the same pattern.
