Doug M Posted May 16, 2012 Share Posted May 16, 2012 I hope to begin work on my '73 in the near future and wondering what parts are getting hard to come by so that I can go ahead and get those first. I feel like I'm more concerned with body/chassis parts than other parts. Like doors or doors skins, I know I need to replace the skins on my doors. Miles Posted May 16, 2012 Share Posted May 16, 2012 Most parts available: Motor Sports Auto (MSA) Varius Z parts plus body parts: Black Dragon If you are lucky sometimes a Nissan dealer. wrecking yards, Craigslist, HybridZ for sale section, Classic Z Car for sale section, various on-line Z clubs Do a web search as there are many Z related companies that supply OEM and after market parts. A few companies can supply fiberglass or composit parts. Also ebay. Do search this site as parts suppliers have been posted hundreds of times. When I was at Carlisle a couple weeks ago, someone had a few pairs that I was looking at. Pharaohabq Posted May 22, 2012 Share Posted May 22, 2012 I would really recommend that you hold off buying parts till you're at a position to need them. Yes this might hold you up a little, but you'll save a lot of money when you change your mind on where you want to go with your build. Many of the builds i've seen have started off with one car one way, then decided to change directions, or even change bodies. The parts are not that hard to find, unless you're looking for something Super rare like a 432 engine, or a BRE intake. but panels and such are availible within a few weeks from the outlets listed above. When you get into your project you may find that you want an upgrade, and the parts you paid dearly for will go to waste, or be sold likely cheaper than you paid to someone else. So yeah, Wait on buying parts till you know you're going to use them soon, rather than stockpiling parts that you may never use. Conscientrate on getting the car running well with the powerplant you want and paint looking how you like. Then go project by project to style the rest to your liking. you might find you hate fender mirrors. it's your car tho, Do what you like to it.
