RickVC
I have read several limited negative comments regarding the robustness of the L28ET exhaust manifolds. I have read they warp, etc. While this may be true I need to understand the issue better. Can anyone help me in this regard? This also sounds like the typical automotive industry OE product quality lacking that we all know so well. However, this does not mean that Nissan never fixed the issue with design changes. I am hoping that my limited knowledge of this issue can be corrected with model year specific information or casting number range information? Please refer me to any good discussion threads regarding this issue. I have been searching for more information than I currently have since Friday evening and I am not finding much. If I avoid the L28et hardware changes (i.e., w/300ZX water/oil cooled turbo) then I'll have to wait for one of the other L24 aftermarket turbo kits to show up on the used market. NewZed
Why don't you post the negative comments or links to the threads so people know where you're coming from? Sounds interesting, I wouldn't mind knowing more myself.

I have a second one lying around the garage it's pretty flat too.
Six_Shooter
I also have not heard of any issues with the OEM turbo components. I've been running an L28ET exhaust manifold on my car for 4 years, without any issues.
Tony D
Yes, the stock manifolds warp, and suffer from uneven expansion. The harder you use them, the worse it will be. For the cars delivered in Europe with diff coolers and 3.36 differentials and 20 more HP, intended for extended running on the autobahn under boost they indeed got a totally different exhaust manifold with larger internal size, and cast in three pieces using expansion joints. Go to JeffP's "Extreme 280ZXT" page at Angelfire and read all about it. If you haven't heard about the issues with stock manifolds, you haven't been looking. RickVC
TonyD - Thank you for the information and the reference to Jeff's webpage regarding the 280 zx T. I'll have a read of this and see where my mind settles regarding use of the OE l28 et exhaust manifold. I suspect I will be watching for one of the used after market turbo systems to become available. Rick
Tony D
Unless you plan on super horsepower, extended racing track times, or running on the Autobahn for hours on end chances are good the stock Nissan unit will work fine.
HowlerMonkey
Most L28 manifolds warp because someone drives them 25,000 miles with broken bolts/studs.
