Haehl
I believe it's a hose going to my heater hose but it split and is now leaking antifreeze. I took a picture and was wondering the easiest way to patch this? I'm a bit cautious because I don't use my heater much now(south texas) but was hoping to one day have working a/c on this car. Also, it runs into the firewall so I'm not sure how to cap it if thats the best route to go. Sorry for being such a rookie and thanks for any help guys. NewZed
Looks like someone bypassed the metal hose junction that used to be there for that hose. You can either get the piece and get things back to stock or stick your head up under the dash and just disconnect the hose and replace it. Here's a link showing what used to be there, depending on what year car you're working on (you didn't say) - http://www.datsunstore.com/heater-coolant-junction-tubes-7478-under-dash-p-1687.html a few more things to look at - http://www.datsunstore.com/7578-heating-dash-venting-c-203_206_362.html
Haehl
The car is a 71 so I'm not sure if that junction piece should be there or not because it seems stock to me. I know the motor/tranny are original so I don't know why they'd replace that stuff. I guess because of the link you provided I should be looking for this piece under the dash?(http://www.datsunstore.com/heater-control-valve-7073-p-1173.html) Assuming that's there I need to find a replacement hose and take the dash out to run a new hose? tamo3
When I fix my starter, my heater hose start leaking too. I just cut the cracked part and replace for temporary fix until I restore entire heater system.

Tony D
What you got AIN'T stock by a LONGSHOT! Someone cheaped out with generic heater hose through the firewall instead of the stock moulded rubber hoses. Hope they didn't tweak the heater control valve stuffing that straight hose in there! Where'd you find that patch hose that's clamped in between there? I guess I need to cut out that house and measure the inner diameter. My only concern is that it's cracked really close to the T it runs into.
tamo3
You can purchase heater hose Coupling, clamp, and hose at local Auto parts shop less than $20 total. I bought them at O'Reilly Auto.
Danochumongs
Alumaseal works wonders from fixing a ford heatercore to a koyo radiator ive seen it all. But make sure you get the $3 little cylinder and not the liquid.
