AspenJ
Hey, my shifter bushings are shot, and so I figured I might as well upgrade to a short throw. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any official short shifters, and I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good ones. I've got a 1983 ZX naturally aspirated with the Nissan 5-speed (not Borg Warner.)
BluDestiny
There aren't really any. You can cut and reweld, but that isn't a true short throw. Spend a little extra and get a brass shifter bushing.
roger280zx
Get a shifter from a 4 speed the throw is slightly shorter. Don't know why you couldn't find that because it is well documented here.
luseboy
You can re-drill your shifter ears and mount the short shifter available from msa. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/65467-280zx-short-throw-shifter/page-

SHADY280
You can get the brass bushings cheap. Go to the parts store and grab a 90's caravan door bushing kit, its a help product, they fit perfectly
Josh280z
Anybody know where to get a spring for the shifter?
NewZed
The Nissan dealers still carry the nylon bushings for the Z shifters for a few dollars (no need to go brass if you're not in a hurry). Wouldn't be surprising if they still carry ZX shifter parts also.
BLOZ UP
What transmission does the NA S130 use? Is it a FS5W71B? From my 10 second research it looks like you can put the 71C on it just by swapping bell housings. Then you can use any 240SX shifter. luseboy
The N/A bellhousing can go onto the sx transmission but it's not a dead simple swap. You have to bore out the holes in the front of the bell housing to fit the larger bearings, among other things.
z240
Josh280z, Do you mean the small spring that's trapped inside the two halves of the plastic two-part ZX shifter bushing? For the shifter with the square hole? I have one. I'll pm you.
