Guest MistressMotorsports
My 3 liter is nearing completion. Engine guy wants to know if I want to spend the money for a Nismo fancy road race pan, something like $700 or so. This is strictly a road race car set up for vintage racing, oil pan is free per the rules. What do you guys think? Is it worth the money? Some other option better (Accusump?) What about using the deeper oil pan that came with the diesel motor I wound up with? Will that even fit in the car? Mike

Cody 82 ZXT
What abou this one from Arizona Z for 399.00? I've thought about this for the next motor I build but, don't really have any info on it from anyone.
SleeperZ
I don't think the diesel oil pan will fit - it's sump is in the front.
Bob_H
Spend the money. I'm with John on this one. But if you shop around, you can find it much cheaper. There is something like Zdatsun which has Nissan Motorsports Stuff really cheap. You can also try Bruce Titus group up in WA or OR,(look in Google under nismo stuff). Again, for road racing, spend the money. You don't want to deal with the oil sloshing up in the front of the stock pan. The extra capacity and windage tray are worth it. -Bob (you could always go with a dry sump system... )
Mudge
Is anyone hacking up a stock pan to "fix it up", using a windage tray and or a crank scraper on the stock pan? For those of us with budgets less than $700 for a simple pan!?!
Guest MistressMotorsports
What about the cast and baffled pan that MSA sells for $375? Is that as good as the mega bug Nissan unit? Mike
Bob_H
I think it may be the same. I don't remember the racing pan being $700. Maybe 700 canadian. I remember along the lines of $350-500. Call MA and ask them.
