trackzpeed
I forgot to post my spare tire/fuel cell cover.....
Stock Car Mafia
What gauge metal did you use? Did you seam seal where you have it bolted all the way around? How good is it at keeping noise out or does it rattle? I need to tackle this at some point and any tips would be greatly appreciated
trackzpeed
I forget the guage but it's pretty stout...... I went to a steel fab place and picked it up from there as scrap.... I mocked it up and cut it myself.... painting the underside black to prevent rust... I did seal it. It doesn't rattle and blocks sound pretty well with my carpet kit over the top. I think I'm into for less than $20.
trackzpeed
Finally got my anti slosh foam in my fuel cell..... Lost fuel at the pick-up autoX racing last month with 1/3 tank...... Not anymore.
Stock Car Mafia
Hey I just had a quick question for you. When the shop rebuilt your diff, did they use a new pinion nut? I am reading through the rebuild manual and don't see any verbiage regarding the need of a new one. I'm just curious. I'll pm you my cell phone number in case you don't want to muddle up your build thread
trackzpeed
Shop did the rebuild new bearings, nut, and used my spare ring and pinion. It works great and puts power to the wheels as an LSD should. Jim
trackzpeed
Time for an update. I sold of 2 sets of wheels and tires and purchased 17X9-9.5 Rota RB's and Kuhmo 245 40 17 255 40 17 V720 tires. They have not arrived yet however once installed, along with flares I have sitting on my bench, I'll post some feedback, pics, and some more AutoX video. trackzpeed
Flares done... Cruddy cell pics. Ill post more later
hornedcow
Flares look good! BTW, I have the CXRacing exhaust on my Z and while I haven't started it yet I can confirm they fit with DD mounts. Passenger side is tight and had to install it and the starter at the same time but it all goes together. Are any of your wires touching on the primary tubes? Cylinder 6 on mine is at an odd angle where I can't even fit a plug socket onto it and the wire rests on the tube. Was hoping to just run stock wires but that's out the window along with my wallet
trackzpeed
I've got good clearance on all wires.....I pulled my motor from a complete car I bought with wires in place.... Not sure of manufacturer Can you run a low mount alternator?
hornedcow
Yes running the DD low alternator mount since I wanted to run A/C and I really don't like the look of the high mount setups.
Stock Car Mafia
Flares look really good dude! Did you go 9.5" on all 4's? I am curious to see more pics! How high did you mount your flares? The ride height looks killer
trackzpeed
9 and 9.5 245 40 front 255 40 rear (275 later in the rear). Drove the car to work for grins and giggles today with no rub on a spirited drive. had to cut some of the front fender out forward to avoid some tire rub. pretty happy all in all but track time will tell me if its really worth it. Thanks, Jim Edited March 28, 2016 by trackzpeed
RebekahsZ
With that much tire, you may start wanting some brakes. Not intended as criticism-your car is awesome! I can serve as a reference for the AZC brake kits-easy upgrade with perfect, no hassle-bolt on. Edited March 28, 2016 by RebekahsZ
trackzpeed
Brakes are on the list of to-do's.... starting with upgraded pads while saving for wilwoods. On point advice my friend, thanks. Jim
Richard Oben
Looking really good, I know it had to be a bit hard cutting rust free fenders and quarters. But it is YOUR car, cut if you want to. Finally found a better tub starting serious work soon. Keep us posted! Richard.

boostfed
Great build! out of curiosity , what made you go with the CX racing kit compared to other available kits? Planning my build out and getting that much needed motivation from your build thread
