Did you actually check voltage at the pump? Or just assume that it had no power because it's not working? Om the 78's you can disconnect the oil pressure sender and the pump should get power when the key is on. Easier than trying to measure it while cranking. That will at least tell you if the pump circuit is complete.
Tito
Newzed I'm gonna try that with the oil pressure sender disconnected. And I disconnected the fuel pump conectors behind passenger seat,i attached a multimeter and I got no voltage when key on and not even when cranking.. Now I'm fixing some wires.im soldering those wires That go to the fusible links they are rusted And corrorroed
NewZed
The 78 system has a lot more parts and connections to get screwed up. You're starting in the right spot, the fusible links. Classiczcars.com has wiring diagrams and factory service manuals. They'll help a lot for troubleshooting, with a meter.
Tito
Newzed do you know where to get the relays for the fuel pump
NewZed
Get the part number and Google it. Here's a link or you can just take yours out, the numbers are on the side. http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsuns30/Datsun-Z-Index/Electrical/Electric-Unit-Switch/Section-1/280Z
Sjoost
Tito, I had same issue some time ago. Did you check my quest? http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/129390-fuel-pump-and-relais/ 1. Looked like I had some thing with a stuck relais or beeper for the seat belt 2. The new ignition switch did not work correct. When pressing hard on the starter key my switch was working. I fixed that later. My relais were all fine in the end. Hope it helps
Tito
I fixed already those wires that were rusty,, now I removed the maf sensor and I sprayed starting fluid and it turned on right away and smooth,, but once again. I check all the relays with the multimeter and apparently they are fine and I still have no voltage at fuel pump. Please help guys I will appreciate so much. Sjoost
Tito, If you disconnect feed wire to the solenoid of the starter motor (so it does not start if you turn ignition to starts), and remove the left side block connector (88c, 86,88a,86b,88b) from the fuel injection relais, and turn the ignition to "start" (keep it on start), and measure the voltage on the fuel pump terminals, what do you measure (not really easy to do, and extra hands help here)? & did you check all the circuits from the icu (see page 45 onward, http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/efisystem/280zfuelinjectionbook.pdf)? Tito
I think I did that but with the feed wire still in the solenoid. Behind the passeger seat I found the connectors of the fuel pummp .i attached the multimeter and when I start it I got 0 voltage
NewZed
You're jumping around from idea to idea. Follow the power from the battery to the pump. Come back and post where you last saw voltage. The "Ign" fusible link then pin 93 of the fuel pump relay are your first two spots to check.
