scartail
Can someone tell me the name/pn of the steel threaded plugs in the head? There are 4 of them, near the cam. Require a 10mms Allen to remove. Thanks.

scartail
Thanks for responding. I stole this image of the zcardepot website. It's item 9 in the picture (not circled).
ZHoob2004
Core plugs for the coolant passages. My machinist said there's usually no reason to remove them.
D9inger
I’m glad you could answer that, I was drawing a blank

I ended taking one out, thinking it was a head screw, and stripped the socket head during the process. zcardepot doesn't carry them. They look the run of the mill. Are there anything special with them? BSPT?
grannyknot
No there is nothing special about the core plugs but not sure where you could buy one, the only thing to be careful with is the aluminum threads in the head. That plug separates the oil from the coolant.
Neverdone
https://www.mcmaster.com/91390a210 Would something like that work? Not sure if it's the correct pitch, or even width, but it's something worth looking around on on McMaster Carr. It is just a big set screw. scartail
Thanks for the help guys. I'll browse mcmaster carr. I do think they are not straight threads, maybe pipe thread.
D9inger
I'm pretty sure they are BSPT Male. It's a metric tapered thread. https://www.mcmaster.com/metric-pipe-fitting-plugs If you google it, it'll explain allot, or look here https://www.ralstoninst.com/news/story/the-difference-between-npt-bspp-and-bspt-seals It's NOT NPT Edited July 9, 2019 by D9inger

Unfortunately, mcmaster carr only carried the lower profile ones. I ended ordering some thru ebay. And for anyone else that runs into this trouble... I measured the plug to be 1/2" pipe thread (assumed BPST) and 20mm thick. Edited July 10, 2019 by scartail
