Datsunfsu
These are the front brakes with the 5 lug conversion and vented rotors. Question on how to get the cap off to tighten the hubs? I feel like I’ve tried everything to separate or removed about all bolts. These were done from a prior owner and discontinued. Can’t find anything about these when searching either. Wondering if someone has this setup. Don’t have any image hosting to post a pic. Any help will be great.
calZ
You don't need an image hosting service. You can upload the image directly into your post. You want to tighten the hub nut? I don't know what MM hubs look like, but if they're the same as any other hub you just pop the cap off with a chisel or screwdriver. You could probably get by with a hard plastic trim tool if they have a nice finish you don't want to scratch.
Datsunfsu
Thanks. Missed the upload button. These seem different than the normal z ones
Miles
Is the cap threaded? Perhaps it will unscrew.
Datsunfsu
Tried that. Nothing to grip onto as the elite outside is smooth.
Miles
Your cap may be threaded like the attached picture. Apply heat around the outside and unscrew the cap with channel lock pliers? Propane torch would do it. Edited October 26, 2020 by Miles added picture of threaded dust cap
NewZed
How about a strap wrench?
Datsunfsu
Going to pick one up after work today and give it a try with those wrenches
pchermit
It will tear it up more than likely but a pipe wrench might do the trick if you are desperate.
Datsunfsu
Couldn’t get a strap in there but I gave in and did the pipe wrench after heat. Came off and it is threaded. Thanks for everyone’s input. Maybe this will help someone down the road.
