Guest 1975yellowBSPZ
from everything I've heard those rates are really stiff for a z with no cage to stifffen the unibody. but to handle those the tokicos probably won't cut it, you either need the ground control units or most folks use these koni's: http://www.modern-motorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=25_38&products_id=51&PHPSESSID=90383210a0f39c783f681be95243ce94

auxilary
tokico illuminas won't handle springs over 300lb/in
JMortensen
Aux is right. Probably somewhere in the high one hundreds for a tight street car. Double duty street/track puts you in the 200's. You've got track springs there, and you will need Konis or better to dampen them. There was a big discussion on this just recently. Do a search. First, use capitalization and punctuation in your posts here on HybridZ. Please read the FAQ and Rules 'cuz its very clear about this. Second, use the Search function extensively before spending any money and posting. This will save you money and us time becuase you won't be buying parts that are incorrect for a street car and you won't be asking questions that have already been answered. As for your question: those spring rates are about right for a track car that has a 10 point cage. They are much too stiff for a street car and the only "off the shelf" shock that can handle those rates and fit in a Z strut tube are Koni 8610s. Jay at Ground Control was mistaken when he said that the Tokico Illuminas can control those spring rates. The Tokico does not have enough rebound to handle spring rates at 300 or above. You'll have to sell or return those springs and look at something in the 175 to 200 lb. in. range for a street car.
zguy95135
I looked at the springs on my ground control units in the front and all it had was a serial number and 02/97. What the heck does that mean? I have tokico illuminas on my car, are the spring rates too much 4 the shocks? The guy who put them on before the had driven it around like this for a few years. auxilary
if the kit is GC, GC uses eibach springs (red in color). On the spring there should be a set of numbers printed in following format: 10.00 / 200 / 2.5, where 10 is the length in inches of the spring, 200 is the lb/in rating, and 2.5 is the diameter of the spring in inches
zguy95135
oh i thought that was a serial # for the kit or something
