Just wanted to say hi, and that I'm happy I found a decent place to hang out with other Z enthusiasts :D. I used to haunt the usenet groups, but just don't like usenet so much for information archival. I do like large forums.

I have a '78 280 that has been sitting for a couple years, and plan to dig into it for a spring project in a few months, so I'm trying to get a plan of attack together. I am also a SAHM with no real income of my own, therefore it will be a low budget project, hence my nick :).

Sometimes I'm chatty, sometimes not, so thought now would be a good time for introductions :).

I just updated my profile, I'm about an hour northeast of Atlanta GA.

The car is in pretty poor condition right now, but I think I need to start with rebuilding the suspension. I can get the motor running with little trouble (hopefully hehe) but the reason I parked it mainly was the suspenension. I want to start a checklist of things I need to start aquiring so I can go to my buddies house where it's sitting, drag it out of the weeds and start wrenching. Probably would be best for me to start a thread in the suspension area to do some brainstorming :).

Actually I would like to eventually end up with an IMSA style body kit, with the performance to match the looks :D. But then that is way past low budget, unless I luck up something fierce (there was a guy with a kit on a z that I saw, and probably could have traded cars with him, and I kick myself every time I think of that :( ).

watch the p's and q's my a$$! Women strive for equal opportunity, no sense in cutting back by being all gentleman-y! :D

Remember, we still do things a little differently down here in the south. Southern Gentlemen are still alive. :D

Welcome LB, I think that makes two women on these forums. Since you are in GA, be sure to check out our South East Zcar Shootout in this thread.

I think the first thing you will want to do is assess the rust and structural integrity of the car. Then figure out how you want the car to perform. From that you can decide what size brakes you need, spring rates, etc. Then check with our members Mike Gibson (goes by SCCA on here) at http://www.fonebooth.com/auto.html, Juan (he changes his name every few weeks) at JSK Innovations, and Ross Corrigan (goes by RossC and I probably butchered his last name) at Modern Motorsports for your parts.

Nice to meet you all :).

The body, well, yeah, it needs work but a friend of mine is taking bodyshop classes and we're gonna "play". It is a 5 speed. The car is a major project, but with little more than suspension work would be a driver, albeit a bit of a beater :). At the moment I'm just looking to have some fun with it like I used to. I trashed the front bumper, so I'm just gonna take the bumper struts off, do a bit of clean up work to the body and throw a quickie paint job on it to hold until I'm ready to get serious with the cosmetics.

Anybody in the Gainesville/Atlanta area know if there are spray booths to rent around here?

Make that 4 women on the board including me. While I don't have the car yet (looking for a good one right now), I've got the ambition! And a block in the garage waiting to get built. Just got the JTR book in the mail yesterday.

Nice to see I'm not the only girl. :-D
