datsunlover
Uh, yah Glenn... something like that! and I figured I'd post a pic to prove I actually do own a Z! and support the JSR team!
dot
Oh yes the memories of the barbs we all get when the car is reduced to this state. Someone hand me a number, V12Z is jackstand racing untill spring.
z-REX
we have a new claim to the title of sickest car on jackstands! what's going in yours now glenn?
dot
Oh God were to start… The car is way too heavy. I intend to lighten the frame some. I can change that big spring to a fibreglass unit. An aluminum fuel cell. I was going to change the rear hatch to a GRP and polycarbonate combination, but a trip up to Showcars changed my mind rather quick. That guy has nothing in stock and can’t find his moulds. Completely check out the front end. I spent this evening going through some old threads on Willwood brake kits for the front….I am now more confused than ever. I would like to combine them with my Camaro rotors. My steering rack is sloppy…I might go for rebuilt stock or try the Subaru set up. But first I am plan to install some performance Iski cams that I have had on the shelf for a few years. They go in easy but adjusting the lash takes a long time. Then there is reprogramming the fuel map after the install yadda yadda yadda. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, all you dads can relate to this, my kids have grown up and are moving out on their own. Now with out the fear of bicycles, hockey nets/sticks, base balls/bats flying cats, falling snow shovels and all the other sorts of unaccounted for airborne sports and gardening paraphernalia, I can paint my car and live in peace. Aaaaaaahhh
z-REX
you have yourself a list, glenn! if you're back on the road by early next year you should make a trip down to syracuse, ny for the ne z adventure. i'm not sure of the dates off the top of my head but there's always some nice cars there. doubt i'll be running by then... but it'd be cool if some of us local jackstanders made it up there... be cool to meet up. datsunlover
Hey, I'd love to take the trip too, if I'm mobile by then of course! I think it'd be pretty cool to cruise down the highway beside the mighty V12... hey Glenn, need a wingman? My lowly I6 might not have the power to keep up to you in a race.. but I'm sure I can pass more gas stations than you!
dot
The ne z adventure sure sounds like a possibility. Keep us informed. You might pass more gas stations Matt, but the veiw always changes for the guy in front... 8)

pparaska
anybody out there know how to downsize a pic? i actually found the cd with some out-of-date pics of the garage ornament ...problem is they're freakin' HUGE! the site upload feature actually laughed at me. any advice? There are 2 issues with image "size" on the web: 1) horizontal/vertical pixel size (how much room it takes up on the screen, relative to lines of text). 2) File size. This is what kills download time for dial-up users. It's best to use an efficient compression type format for all images for use on the web. This means that non-compression type format like .BMP is very inefficient. In other words, a .BMP image might have a small vert./horiz. pixel size that uses up 100kb of file size to save or download, versus a .JPG image from the .BMP having the same vert/horiz. pixel size and 1/10 the file size. Large file size means the download time for the page being viewed with BMPs is now much longer than needed for the small (pixel) image sizes. Therefore, use a compressed format like .PNG or .JPG, not a uncompressed format like .BMP. .JPG files have lossy compression applied to the original image, which works relatively well for photographs. It will unnecessarily blur a drawn graphic like a logo, so it's better to use .PNG for these types of files. With .JPG format, try experimenting with the "quality" of the image. Packages like Ulead's PhotoImpact even have WYSIWYG before and after windows that show the effect of a selected "quality". Use the minimum quality needed to have the image get the message across - this may be less for "This is how I did it" images, than "Dude, this car looks awesome!" type images. With .PNG format, try experimenting with the number of colors used in the pallete. For example, many logos can be displayed very well with only a 4 color optimized pallete. In fact, when saving graphics files with your drawing software, save the file in .PNG format and try experimenting with the number of colors (keeping the number as small as needed) to keep the image file size down. Here are a few tutorials on image compression and their uses: http://ratedhot.com/tutorial/imagecompression.php http://www.oit.umass.edu/publications/at_oit/Archive/spring00/jv_compress.html There are several freeware software packages available for downsizing images, converting formats, etc. Here are some for the PC: http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm http://www.photo-editor.net/ http://www.ultimatepaint.com/download.htm Note: .BMP, .GIF, .JPG, .PNG and other formats can be linked with the tags on Hybridz.org. If you want to upload an image to a HybridZ.org gallery, you can only upload .JPG and .PNG formats. Please don't link .BMP images - convert them to .JPG or .PNG first. Image limits on HybridZ Albums: .JPG and .PNG only 128000 bytes maximum file size 800 pixel maximum width 600 pixel maximum height
zguy95135
paintshop pro 7 is a good one. you can "optimize" it so that it takes up much less room but looks nearly the same. oh yeah, dont buy it though, just get the demo and keep changing the date on the computer so the trial never runs out. ive had mine for over a year
PETEW
Boy, I thought I put a pick of my car to show it's true jackstand roots. It has been like this for a year or year and a half. Lots to go yet.
