Guest iskone
I've searched around but I couldn't find anything I was wondering if anyone has moved the frame rails over to the sides of the car and up into the passenger cab? I don't think much of the frame rails would be in the cab. I was thinking that one could use new steel for the rails and maybe put in one of those 18 gauge floors from one of the vendors. Sort of like the car in Chassis Engineering. Basically I want my car to be as low as possible, right now my frame rails bottom out here and there on bumps. Any suggestions? Can some one point in the right dirrection? Thanks ISK

BillZ260
What car do you have? If you are making sub frame connectors you can built them just about any way you want. I made mine like pete paraska's but I wanted my floors to be flush on top, So i might have problems draging here and there. But you could easily build some that pop up a bit into the floor or are just made of 1x3 instead of 2x3 tubing. It really isn't that difficult if you have a chopsaw and a welder. Take lots of measurments, mock up some cardboard even, take your time, and eventually an idea of what you want will come to mind.
Jeff
You could run them inside the rocker panels and get them totally out of the way. It would be a PIA install but would accomplish your goal. I made mine out of 1x3 tubing and put the new floor pans on top of them though. I think the exhaust is going to be what hangs lowest on my car but that is just speculation since I don't have the motor in yet. Here is what mine looks like so far. Guest iskone
I have a 78 280Z I think I'll just take lots of measurments and see what I can make the best of. I think the exhaust might hang to low as well be my current exhaust isn't my lowest point so I'll have to measure the tranny tunnel and see if a dual 3" will fit, I can always smoosh the tubing a bit in a press. Has anyone ever tried to run their exhaust through their frame rails? What I am saying would be to use the frame rails as the exhuast tubes. I know there would be all sorts of problems, but it would be intersting.
JMortensen
That'd be one hot floor... Jon
Guest iskone
Yeah, not to mention noisy! Maybe one could fit exhaust tubing inside the frame rails, but it would still be hot.

DatsunBoy77
Not to stal the topic but i have been looking at others sites and pics and i havent seen how people at doing the subframe connectors up where the factory thin ones attach where th T/C rod attaches under the front subframe rail. I am in the middle of the doing floors and decided to do subframe connectors and am not sure what to do with the front before i start cutting that support rail. DatsunBoy77
Yeha i have that sute on favorites already. I was looking to see a stock subrame rail to a new subframe connector to see where they cut, and preferably from the outside of the car looking at the other side from the wheelwell.
