Chrome Car!!

In the past, folks have asked "Why not just chrome an entire car body?" Reasons listed why cars aren't chromed have been many, but here's an example of one I ran across - a Jaguar no less!

isn't that pollished aluminum?

I doubt they would go through the trouble of re-creating the urethane bumpers in aluminum just to polish them when they could chrome the plastic (or whatever they do to put shiny stuff on plastic pieces) instead.

That Jag is polished aluminium. I would imagine the bumpers are chrome plated plastic. I deliver sodium hydroxide to a place that plates the plastic parts for new trucks. You can now plate anything with the right combination of environmentally depleting chemicals and electricity.

Jag polished an XKE years ago. Looked about the same.

Personally, I like chrome, but in moderation. The early Z has just the correct amount for my tastes. To drive this car I would need dark glasses…ride low in the seat…and an oversized fuzzy hat...with a feather...
