Guest bastaad525
Man I LOVE that last pic... my two favorite cars nose to nose like that... think I'll make that my desktop wallpaper One day I'll be able to take a pic like that of my own cars. How you like the finished FFR product? Been some discussion on here as of late to the quality of the FFR, vs. say, the Superformance kit. The FFR sounds like a fantastic deal.. the price is awesome... but some have expressed that it doesn't make for as good of a daily driver as the FFR info package cracks it up to be. Which engine did you use? How about some pics of the engine bay? Any chance of you giving us a ballpark figure on what your final cost ended up being? Supposedly there are guys who've finished them up for a hair over $18k with really good results, running factory 5.0 drivetrain. Lord knows I'm close to having that much in my Z.... I can't wait til I have my own house and can have the space I need to build one of these myself. EDIT - dsommer, any chance of getting a sharper version of that last pic (the cobra and z face to face), a higher resolution or something? Put that on my desktop but is kinda of blurry upped to that resolution. Would really love to have a higher rez version

dsommer
Thanks for all the compliments guys. I drove it down the mountain with the Z club over the weekend. What a blast. As far as quality and drivability. Quality, I can find nothing wrong with this car it is solid, the frame is made out of 4’ round tubing the remainder is square tubing. It is solid. The engine is a .30 over EFI with forged slugs, Edelbrock intake (upper and lower) BBK throttle body B-cam (Ford) equal length headers. The gentleman that built it said every nut and bolt that he used on this car were new, I believe him. Body quality is what you put into prep, finishing and paint work. The fellow initially ordered a carbon fiber body and the quality according to him “sucked†so he loaded the body up on a trailer drove from Texas to Massachusetts hand picked this one out and drove it back to Texas, round about 3K miles, he was a bit miffed at FFR for the lousy CF work. He said in some places the body was paper thin other areas were 1†thick. That was one of their first ones so QC wasn’t up to par. He told me he put around 40K in this car and I can see how. He purchased all replacement parts from the local Ford house. This car was a non-donor build. Tubular control arms were an upgrade from FFR, new WC T-5 tranny, Auburn rear-end and new ring and pinion. Can you use it as a daily driver? We’ll I guess you could if you didn’t mind getting wet, hot and smelling like some exhaust and slowly going deaf (on longer “drives†I wear earplugs) Engine heat is present it's hot in there almost uncomfortable. But come on it's modled after a race car, throw the Simpson harness over your shoulders straping yourself you almost feel like you're about to start a race I’m 6’2†and a bit cramped in the cockpit my feet (size 13 shoe) kinda gets on two pedals at once if I don’t pay attention. The car will cruise at 80 and seems rock solid. I had it going around 110 yesterday and it wanted more. As far as pics let me see what I can do on that, I’m working on getting a new digi cam (the one I used was from work it’s OK but not as good as I’d like) Plus it was overcast outside. I’ll try again on a nice sunny day. Aux pics of my niece haha let me run the car up to Hooters and have the girls come out for a pic with the car and I’ll post here. Guest bastaad525
actually I LIKE that it's overcast, gives my desktop on my PC a nice bluish, subtle hue... a lot of broad daylight pics are too bright and make some of my icons hard to see sometimes. I figured you might have a higher resolution version of the same pic... I always take my pics in really high rez, which also makes them very large... I size them down if it's somethign I'm posting online or what have you, and that of course takes a hit on the resolution and makes them look blurry if they are blown back up again.... Or was it just the camera focus itself is blurry? Ah well... if you can get another pic of them just like that, overcast or not, I'll take it This pic is giving me something to strive for So you bought the car from someone else? How much did you pay for it? Having grown tired of working on cars thanks to my Z... I was thinking of possibly paying a shop to assemble a kit for me, I read that this service usually costs around $5k... well worth it if you ask me.
