what can 240z's weigh? aluminum-headed 302

I'm confused - I always thought that Z's were nose heavy a bit so it was a good idea to move the battery to behind the passenger seat to help even things out (at least from a static weight perspective but maybe not from a moment of inertia perspective). By the weights given above if anything moving the battery would hurt weight distribution? Can anyone clear this up?

Thanks

Cameron

The main benefit to moving the battery IMO is to put it somewhere lower in the chassis. I think it's actually in a pretty good spot from the factory (offsets some of the driver's weight) so I haven't bothered moving mine yet.

I think the Z's long nose contributes to the impression that it is nose heavy, but really it isn't at all. Most people who I've seen #'s for come up 49/51, 50/50, or 51/49. Mine is 49.5/50.5 if you wanna get particular... :D 74_5.0L_Z is obviously an exception...

As Ussual, John M. is correct. :D These cars are NOT nose heavy in foactory trim with the L6. Do a scarab mount with a chevy motor and you throw off the balance, and if you do the JTR, you correct it.

Moving the battery to the back isn't a bad thing, so long as you sink it into the floor somehow or move it behind the passenger seat area. You want the battery LOW in the car. It will aid in achieving a better PMI.

And don't spend a lot of time trying to hit specific weight distribution numbers with these cars. They can be made to hnadle very well with the stock weight distribution spread. Changing the weight distribution and then adjusting the suspension for it is really only needed for dedicated road race or autocross Zs.
