JaysZ
saw this guy on ebay who is cutting datsun keys with our code: About $11 each though! Hi, I have a fixed price for keys cut to code -- US$20.95 for two keys as shown (cut to the same code) + shipping 2.95. Some of my items offer cut keys as a Buy It Now option, if it's not there or not available because there are bids then let me know. Regards, Stuart CODE-CUT KEYS VS COPY-CUT KEYS Copying uses an existing key as a template and traces the cuts onto a new key blank. If the existing key is in good condition this is fine but if the original is worn then you are reproducing the wear onto the copy. This is one reason why copies sometimes don't work well. In fact a copy will never be as good as an original, so a copy of a worn key is an even worse worn key. Cutting to code creates a new key -- a totally brand new key. If the locks are in good condition the code-cut key will continue to operate them for many years, and additionally this key could be used to make good quality copies. Additionally, a code-cut key may prolong the life of your lock. Worn and poorly cut keys which cause difficulties turning the cylinder place stress on the lock's internal components. Our keys are cut on the latest high-technology computerized key cutting equipment for precision and accuracy. We confidently guarantee our keys and our cutting. For our code-cutting warranty and further information see ----> http://www.keys4classics.com/html/code_cut_keys.html
Guest 240zJake
All I don't like is he has your key and your address...
TimZ
Any competent locksmith can do this. No magic here. The quality of a key cut to code is much, much better, btw. A competent locksmith can also make all of your locks match again, if you've had to replace one or more of them.
Hugh
Can't Nissan do this for you? I went to Nissan with my old 240sx once. The guy looked at my key (just looked at it!) and went back and made a new key for me. It worked perfectly. My old key was worn down a couple millimeters, too. He just knew how to read the code from the shape of the key. I asked him, you been doing this for a while? He says "Just 15 years"
jbc3
I just received my 2 keys from him today. Haven't had a chance to try them in the car yet, but they look great. By the way, he's in Australia... I'm in the US... not worried he's going to my house to take my 28 year old junker... Besides I had them shipped to my work, not my house. GrayZee
My Z still had the lock code on a sticker inside the glove box door. I gave the code to a locksmith and they cut me a new key.
JaysZ
yeah i am paranoid too actually, my car has different locks to the doors and i actually dont have those keys so either i dont lock them at all or i climb in through the hatch but i'm not worried since i have a PO BOX he can send it to. My Z still had the lock code on a sticker inside the glove box door. I gave the code to a locksmith and they cut me a new key. was it a Nissan specialist or was it any regular locksmith? I got a key cut at Lowe's the other day and it worked perfectly.. it was like $3. I just wish I had another Nissan blank but they go for crazy amounts on ebay! Guest Carrman
What I've always done is have a new key cut to code, and then keep it as a master for new keys to be cut from. That way my duplicate keys are no more than one generation away from an original key. Dave
BillZ260
Ok, so what about newer nissans? Got an 01 Altima and a replacment key is over 100 bucks since is has that chip in the key! The key it self is around 40 and the "ACTIVATION" is another 60 or so? Any suggestions?
